Problem
During the development of #3210 it was detected the web UI didn't cope well with reused volume groups. This commit was introduced to handle the situation nicely back then... but somehow I messed up the submission and left the commit out of the mentioned pull request.
Solution
Fix the omission, adding the commit that was missing in #3210 together with the corresponding changelog entry.
Testing
Tested manually.
