Remove the Preact 8 render branch that passed the replaceNode argument, which Preact 11 removed from its types. Develop the renderer against preact@^11.0.0. Run the preact-vite/default-ts sandbox on Preact 11 (pinned to 11.0.0-rc.2 until 11.0.0 passes the 7-day npm age gate) and keep default-js on the Preact 10 that create-vite scaffolds. Remove the preact-vite/prerelease-ts template, which pointed at the stale preact@beta tag. preact/compat 11 reports React 19, so update the addon-docs e2e expectation for default-ts. react-component-meta reports string defaults already quoted ('a') and without
computed/func keys, so the react-docgen-typescript heuristic in createPropDef
wrapped them in JSON.stringify a second time and argTypes showed "'a'".
Only apply that workaround when the value is not already a quoted literal.

wrap-getAbsolutePath always imported dirname from node:path, writing a duplicate binding next to a config's own const dirname, so the migrated main config no longer parsed.
pnpm 12 treats `pnpm install -w` as an install of the workspace root project only, so the upgrade left every other workspace project on its old Storybook version in the lockfile. Keep `-w` for `pnpm add`, where pnpm requires it at the workspace root. (cherry picked from commit ea9f390)
ConfigFile prepended every new import, so a main config that starts with a license comment got the imports above it (seen in elastic/eui). When the first statement has a leading comment, add new imports below the existing ones, or take the comment over when the file has no imports. (cherry picked from commit 22cb18c)
Clack redraws a whole task log on every update, so a log taller than the terminal repeats in the scrollback: the automigration detection over dxos' 130 Storybooks rewrote each line about 125 times, and its package.json list showed twice. Show the latest ten lines by default and retain the rest, so a log shown on error is still complete. (cherry picked from commit cfd95de)
… dependencies upgrade-storybook-related-dependencies moved @nx/storybook from 22 to 23 while every other @nx package stayed on 22 (spartan), leaving unmet peers and a version that still does not support Storybook 11. Upgrading to a prerelease took each satellite addon's `next` version, which for @storybook/addon-svelte-csf is 5.0.0-next.30 while `latest` is 5.1.4, so podman-desktop went from 5.1.2 down to a prerelease. Take whichever of the two tags is newer. (cherry picked from commit 8aa2174)
… import Removing setProjectAnnotations also removes imports that become unused, and when that was the file's first statement its leading comment went with it (dxos' tools/storybook-react/.storybook/vitest.setup.ts lost its copyright header). Clack counts a task log line's terminal rows by its length including color codes and erases that many rows on the next update. Colored lines close to the terminal width therefore erased lines printed before the log: with the manual steps of twenty's failing vitest-setup-file shown in the task log, the list of opt-in automigrations above it vanished. Drop the colors of a line only when they push it onto an extra row. (cherry picked from commit 1fad805)
… dir When no .storybook directory is found, upgrade asked for its path even with --yes, and did so while the detection spinner was still running, so an unattended run hung. Stop the spinner before prompting, and with --yes fail with a pointer to --config-dir. (cherry picked from commit 5964465)

Squash of #36401 onto the automigration transform pipeline refactor.
features.docgenServer now defaults to true when any loaded preset exports experimental_docgenProvider. Framework allowlists, the deprecated experimentalDocgenServer alias, and runtime preservation of legacy extractor settings are removed. Providers no longer gate on the flag they decide, and Svelte and Web Components stop exporting theirs until they ship. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
The fix now gates on versions in check and edits main.ts through one editConfig hook; the runner owns reading, formatting, diagnostics, and reporting skipped files. On frameworks without a docgen provider it drops experimentalDocgenServer. The Storybook 10 opt-in fix enable-experimental-docgen-server is removed because it cannot apply to Storybook 11 targets. The fix is offered whenever main.ts still sets experimentalDocgenServer, with no version gating, and renames it to docgenServer. It no longer writes docgenServer: false for legacy React and Vue docgen settings or removes the flag on frameworks without a provider. React react-docgen and react-docgen-typescript, and the Vue 3 Vite docgen option with vue-docgen-api or vue-component-meta, now warn when they run, which is only while features.docgenServer is off. Server docgen is the default, so angular-vite/docgen-server-ts and vue3-vite/docgen-server-ts duplicate their default-ts templates. The default templates now opt into componentsManifest and addon-mcp, carry the recorded baselines, and angular-vite/default-ts no longer disables docgenServer. The renderer only passed args whose docgen argType is in the slots category as slots. Under server docgen the preview has no docgen argTypes, so every args-driven slot rendered empty. addon-svelte-csf is no longer a satellite, so the upgrade test asserted an empty list. The lit attribute oracle took 8.3s on Linux and crossed the 10s default on Windows. Co-authored-by: Cursor <cursoragent@cursor.com>
