Cloning into a new directory directly beneath an existing Windows drive root can fail before Git starts because recursive mkdir tries to create the root. Destination preparation now checks the parent and creates it only when missing.

The regression uses the injected platform-native filesystem root, replacing the original POSIX-only fixture. Existing clone coverage also verifies recursive creation of missing parents. Thanks @pujitha24 for the diagnosis and original fix in #18265; the original commits are preserved.

Fixes #17927.

Verification on Linux:

• vp test run apps/server/src/sourceControl/SourceControlRepositoryService.test.ts: 19/19 passed before and after the test rewrite. Temporarily removing the production guard gives 18 passed / 1 failed on the root-mkdir regression.
• Targeted lint, formatting, server-only typecheck, and git diff --check passed.
• A headless harness using the actual repository service, Git driver, Node filesystem and child processes successfully cloned a local repository into existing and missing parents. It checked commit/content identity, observed no mkdir on the existing parent, and confirmed parent-probe permission errors propagate without mkdir.
• No visual change; focused tests and real service/Git execution provide the proof.

Not verified: real Windows drive-root cloning or a Windows test run, macOS, Electron desktop, iOS, and Android.
