fix(cli): t3 starts on a fresh Ubuntu server without libatomic - #26912
The Linux t3 binary does not start on a fresh Ubuntu 24.04 server, so the first npx t3 up (or install.sh) a new user runs fails:
t3: error while loading shared libraries: libatomic.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Node's Linux runtime links libatomic.so.1, and Ubuntu server, cloud, and container images do not ship libatomic1.
Fix
The Linux CLI archive now ships its own copy at lib/libatomic.so.1, and the build sets the t3 RUNPATH to $ORIGIN/lib with patchelf. Nothing to install, no extra step.
Why this option:
One fix for every launch path.install.sh, npx t3, the t3 up service (~/.t3/runtime/versions/<v>/t3), SSH tunnel installs, and WSL installs all extract the whole archive, so lib/ sits beside the binary. $ORIGIN resolves through the ~/.local/bin/t3 symlink. An LD_LIBRARY_PATH launcher would need changes in each of those places and would leak into agent shells.
Not fragile across glibc distros.libatomic.so.1 needs only glibc 2.14 symbols. Node already needs 2.28. Checked on rockylinux:8, debian:11, ubuntu:22.04, fedora:43, and archlinux.
scripts/build-cli-archive.ts: on Linux, find libatomic with ldd, copy it to lib/, and set RUNPATH. The arm64 64 KiB page check now runs on the patched binary. libatomic is GPL-3.0-or-later WITH GCC-exception-3.1, so the archive also ships lib/libatomic.so.1.LICENSE: the exact Ubuntu package and version, its Launchpad source link, the package copyright file, and GPL-3.
scripts/smoke-cli-archive.ts: on Linux, require lib/libatomic.so.1 and its notice, and fail unless ldd resolves libatomic to the archive copy. The runner has libatomic installed, so --version alone would not catch a regression. This check fails on the v0.1.4 archive.
release-desktop.yml: install patchelf before the archive build (the apt mirror setup moves up to run first).
With this merged, #22909 (installer hint for the same error) is no longer needed.
Before and after
Clean ubuntu:24.04 container, install.sh against a local release server. Before is the published v0.1.4 archive. After is an archive built from this branch.

+ ls /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libatomic*
ls: cannot access '/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libatomic*': No such file or directory
+ T3CODE_VERSION=0.1.4 sh install.sh

+ start the server from the installed runtime, then curl it
HTTP 200 from t3 serve
arm64 (qemu, ubuntu:24.04): the v0.1.4 binary fails with the same loader error. The same binary patched with patchelf --set-rpath '$ORIGIN/lib' and Ubuntu's arm64 libatomic in lib/ prints t3 v0.1.4 and passes assertLinuxArm64PageCompatibility. I could not build an arm64 SEA on this x64 host, so the release job's arm64 smoke step is the first full arm64 build.
I did not run t3 up inside a container (no systemd). The service starts the same extracted ~/.t3/runtime/versions/<v>/t3, which the run above covers.
vp run check:changed passes. Smoke script passes on the new archive, including with a symlinked or space-containing TMPDIR.
Proof: reproduced the loader failure on clean ubuntu:24.04, then installed and ran an archive built from this branch on the same image.

Node's Linux runtime links libatomic.so.1, which Ubuntu server, cloud, and
container images do not ship. The Linux CLI archive now carries
lib/libatomic.so.1 and sets t3's RUNPATH to $ORIGIN/lib, so every launch path
(install.sh, npx t3, the t3 up service, SSH and WSL installs) finds it.

Walkthrough
The Linux CLI archive build now bundles libatomic.so.1, sets the staged executable’s RUNPATH, and checks ARM64 page compatibility on the staged executable. The Linux archive smoke test verifies the bundled library and its license file.
Changes: Linux CLI archive
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Prepare and stage the Linux CLI archive .github/workflows/release-desktop.yml, scripts/build-cli-archive.ts
The workflow sets up apt mirrors before CLI archive packaging and installs patchelf when needed. The build bundles libatomic.so.1, writes its license and source-reference information, sets the executable’s RUNPATH, and checks ARM64 page compatibility on the staged executable.
Verify the bundled library scripts/smoke-cli-archive.ts
The Linux smoke test requires lib/libatomic.so.1 and its license file. It fails if ldd does not resolve the executable’s library to the bundled copy.

glibc 2.39 prints the ldd path as given, so a symlinked TMPDIR failed the

… (Running the fork's tests in scripts)
Failing check: Running the fork's tests in scripts
"Running the fork's tests in scripts" had two failing tests. Upstream changes in this nightly broke both of them, and in both cases the broken code was a fork-owned test. I fixed both, and both files now pass (96 tests), with lint and format clean.
**`scripts/smoke-cli-archive.test.ts`**: upstream's pingdotgg#26912 changed `smokeCliArchive` so that on Linux it now requires `lib/libatomic.so.1` and its `.LICENSE` in the archive, and checks with `ldd` that `t3` loads that copy. This test only exists in the fork (it goes with the `smoke-port-race` seam). Its fixture is a Node script, so it can't link a shared library and can never pass the new check. The test is about two concurrent smoke runs getting separate ports from the kernel, not libatomic. So I set `HostProcess.Platform` to `"darwin"` around the two `smokeCliArchive` calls, with a one-line comment. That skips upstream's Linux-only layout and `ldd` checks for this fixture. The Windows skip, the port setup and every assertion are unchanged. Upstream's libatomic check itself is untouched and still applies to real Linux archives.
**`scripts/fork/updates.test.ts`**: upstream's pingdotgg#26893 added a `releasedAt` field to each popover entry in `apps/desktop/src/updates/releaseNotes.ts`. For nightly versions it is the build day taken from the version string. The fork's popover test compared the whole entry exactly, so the new `releasedAt: "2026-10-15"` failed it. I added that field to the expected value. The assertion is just as strict; it now matches upstream's output.
I didn't touch any upstream code or seam rows.

The distribution's files on the new base, upstream T3 Code v0.1.5
(6d450a4), last in the stack: CI, the
CLI archive, release and upstream watch workflows, the image, the issue
form, README, SECURITY.md, the runbook, the overlay spec, the contract
test and the rebuild's skill. They are main's files, made current for
v0.1.5 (#148). Main's base is still v0.1.3: the v0.1.4
rebuild (#143, #144) was a dry run, so its changes come
to main with this one.
On v0.1.4:
- The allowlist gains five files: chat/ThreadServersPanel.tsx, where a
click on a thread's server opens it in the Environment browser (row 9);
sidebar/UpdateEverythingDialog.tsx and updateEverything.logic.test.ts,
for the per-server target and the continuation gate of v0.1.4's update
dialog (row 4); upstream's installer test install.test.ts, whose fixture
needs upstream's repository named (row 4); and cli/environment.ts, whose
settings take Buddy's linked-Environments guard (row 25).
ServerEnvironment.test.ts keeps the update-check guard (row 4).
- The contract test's pins follow the seams that moved: upstream deleted
LegacySidebar.tsx (pingdotgg#21039), so the shell slot's column
head is pinned in the thread sidebar only; the sidebar reads
useDelegatedUnderParent before the managed check; the empty panel and
Nová karta carry the workspace focus default; the MCP session issue
calls mcpClientScopes directly; an agent command's scope drops the
session's web origin so its thread links stay t3-thread:// links; the
Buddy composer hook takes only the environment, since v0.1.4's resting
composer has no strip of its own; the timeline has no paint-only gate
(pingdotgg#25787); the steer guard returns through
stopRunForQueuedCommand and also holds a delegated task's completion
wake; the Servers panel's click opens the Environment browser; and
Buddy's server settings layer turns linked Environments off.
- Rows 30, 32 and 33, which main carried as commits after row 31, now
sit in their rows; row 28's addenda are back in rows 7, 23 and 25.
Upstream renamed the lint rule react-effect-budget to
t3code/no-unreasoned-state-sync (pingdotgg#26161).
- The skill's inventory groups cover rows 23 to 33.
- Tests, fixtures and docs of rows 9, 10, 21, 23, 25, 26 and 27 name
only fictional people and hosts (Alena, Bob, example-person,
vm-0x.example.lazurio.io), since the repository is public.
On v0.1.5:
- CI and the contract test pin v0.1.5 and build 0.1.5-lazurio.0; the
issue form's version example is 0.1.5-lazurio.1. Node 26.12.1 and pnpm
12.14.0 are unchanged, so the toolchain pins hold. SECURITY.md's
upstream section equals the new tag's policy.
- The Linux CLI archive now ships lib/libatomic.so.1 and patchelf sets
t3's RUNPATH to it (pingdotgg#26912, pingdotgg#26932), so
lazurio-cli-archives.yml installs patchelf before the build, the way
upstream's release-desktop.yml does; the contract test pins the order.
- useUpdateEverything.ts leaves the allowlist: row 4 now keeps a
server's advertised release out of waitForNpm in
updateEverything.logic.ts (pingdotgg#26917), and the contract
test pins that seam there. The fixed test gate is unchanged, and every
gated path exists at v0.1.5.
- The contract test's pairing pins follow the constants that knip made
module-private (upstream's pre-commit hook runs knip:check since
pingdotgg#26167).
- The runbook's Overlay table describes every row on v0.1.5, the Cílový
stack names each row's new commit, the swap step names the workflows
to disable after the swap from the v0.1.3 base (agent-context-budget.yml,
mobile-fingerprint-label.yml; v0.1.5 adds none), and stage 3 and the
skill say to replay with --no-verify and run knip over the finished
stack.

The Linux
t3binary does not start on a fresh Ubuntu 24.04 server, so the firstnpx t3 up(orinstall.sh) a new user runs fails:Node's Linux runtime links
libatomic.so.1, and Ubuntu server, cloud, and container images do not shiplibatomic1.Fix
The Linux CLI archive now ships its own copy at
lib/libatomic.so.1, and the build sets thet3RUNPATH to$ORIGIN/libwithpatchelf. Nothing to install, no extra step. Why this option:
install.sh,npx t3, thet3 upservice (~/.t3/runtime/versions/<v>/t3), SSH tunnel installs, and WSL installs all extract the whole archive, solib/sits beside the binary.$ORIGINresolves through the~/.local/bin/t3symlink. AnLD_LIBRARY_PATHlauncher would need changes in each of those places and would leak into agent shells.libatomic.so.1needs only glibc 2.14 symbols. Node already needs 2.28. Checked on rockylinux:8, debian:11, ubuntu:22.04, fedora:43, and archlinux.Changes:
scripts/build-cli-archive.ts: on Linux, find libatomic withldd, copy it tolib/, and set RUNPATH. The arm64 64 KiB page check now runs on the patched binary. libatomic is GPL-3.0-or-later WITH GCC-exception-3.1, so the archive also shipslib/libatomic.so.1.LICENSE: the exact Ubuntu package and version, its Launchpad source link, the package copyright file, and GPL-3.scripts/smoke-cli-archive.ts: on Linux, requirelib/libatomic.so.1and its notice, and fail unlesslddresolves libatomic to the archive copy. The runner has libatomic installed, so--versionalone would not catch a regression. This check fails on the v0.1.4 archive.release-desktop.yml: installpatchelfbefore the archive build (the apt mirror setup moves up to run first). With this merged, #22909 (installer hint for the same error) is no longer needed.
Before and after
Clean

After:
arm64 (qemu,
ubuntu:24.04): the v0.1.4 binary fails with the same loader error. The same binary patched withpatchelf --set-rpath '$ORIGIN/lib'and Ubuntu's arm64 libatomic inlib/printst3 v0.1.4and passesassertLinuxArm64PageCompatibility. I could not build an arm64 SEA on this x64 host, so the release job's arm64 smoke step is the first full arm64 build.I did not run
t3 upinside a container (no systemd). The service starts the same extracted~/.t3/runtime/versions/<v>/t3, which the run above covers.vp run check:changedpasses. Smoke script passes on the new archive, including with a symlinked or space-containingTMPDIR.Proof: reproduced the loader failure on clean
ubuntu:24.04, then installed and ran an archive built from this branch on the same image.Council review
