Problem

OpenCode 2.1.2 omits the top-level recent field on compactions. T3’s bundled 2.0.28 client requires it, so decoding history aborts rollback before the revert request. Fixes #22656.

Change

Normalize successful history-page responses at the provider boundary: running/completed compactions missing recent receive the legacy metadata.recent string, or an empty string for native 2.1 compactions. T3 does not consume that field. Present fields retain their validation, and pagination is preserved. No dependency update.

Scope and approval

Fixes #22656

Triaged bug via the automated issue flow.

Verification

On 4f651cb10d, a real isolated @opencode/cli@2.1.2 server returned HTTP 200 for a naturally compacted session, but the unchanged provider client failed at data[3].recent. At b2c65dcc8a, that history decodes. Through the running T3 dev server, importing the native session, sending a turn, and rolling back to checkpoint zero succeeded on the first attempt; OpenCode logged revert.stage and revert.commit.

Evidence Before After
Native 2.1.2 compaction, real HTTP Missing data[3].recent History decodes
Legacy metadata compaction, 90-message real HTTP fixture Missing data[89].recent 90 decoded
Running/completed, absent metadata, legacy fields Focused regression suite Pass
Present invalid recent or invalid reason Schema error Schema error
Native compaction rollback through dev server Baseline decoder blocks history Rollback effect succeeded; revert committed

Validation: nine focused client tests, provider package typecheck, and lint on touched files pass. Both independent reviews approve the final head. Proof audit pass 2: SUFFICIENT: 52 independently replayed records with zero semantic differences; manifest hashes match.

Unverified execution: desktop/Electron, Android, iOS, relay/tunnel. This change is confined to the shared server provider adapter; no platform-specific implementation or UI changed. File restoration was disabled in the rollback reproduction.

Evidence matrix: pass 1. The stale-description and prior-head legacy findings in pass 1 have been corrected.

Exact-head dev-server flow Completed rollback Final retained boundary
Native compaction Outbox and provider revert Original five IDs retained; new T3 user messages removed; runs rolled back
Legacy metadata compaction Succeeded on first attempt; runs rolled back Provider stage and commit; compaction retained and new T3 user messages removed in the linked result

No UI render paths changed, so viewport/theme/pixel diffs are inapplicable. What else changed: successful history responses are reserialized, stale content-length is removed, and other envelope fields retain their semantic values. Failed and unrelated requests keep their existing path.

Functional captures: 16-row evidence index, exact-head manifest, scripts, fixtures and results. Nine tests and 30 semantic assertions pass. The index’s pending final rollback boundaries and prior-head legacy note are superseded by the exact-head dev-server results above. Unexecuted unchanged guard variants and multi-page pagination are explicitly source-reviewed rather than experimentally claimed.

Model/harness: GPT-6.1-Sol (Codex) and Claude Fable 5.1 (Claude), orchestrated through T3 Code; independent GPT-6.1-Sol and Claude Opus 5.5 reviews.

OpenCode 2.1 moved a compaction message's `recent` under `metadata`, while
the bundled 2.0.28 client schema still requires it at the top level, so any
session history containing a compaction failed to decode and rollback could
not read the thread before reverting.

The client now lifts `metadata.recent` to the top level on message-list
pages before the generated schema sees them. Legacy top-level payloads pass
through unchanged, and a compaction with no `recent` anywhere still fails.

Approvability

Verdict: Approved at 6d72299

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — Restores OpenCode 2.1 compaction-history decoding through a narrowly scoped response compatibility shim. It preserves downstream validation and does not change stored data, authentication, or product defaults.

@opencode/schema 2.1.2 removed `recent` from running and completed
compactions; only migrated pre-2.1 compactions keep it under
`metadata.recent`, and native ones carry `metadata.keepID` or no metadata.
The shim now fills the field the bundled 2.0.28 schema still requires
only when it is absent, from `metadata.recent` when that is a string and
otherwise with an empty string T3 never reads. A present `recent` of any
value and every other field are still validated by the real schema.

Walkthrough

The OpenCode client now fills missing recent values on running and completed compaction records in successful session message-list responses. Tests cover supported record formats and schema validation errors. The rollback-history fixture includes a non-string recent value.

Changes: OpenCode message history

Layer / File(s) Summary
Normalize compaction records
packages/provider-opencode/src/server/v2/OpenCode2Client.ts, packages/provider-opencode/src/server/v2/OpenCode2Client.test.ts, apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/Adapters/OpenCode2AdapterV2.test.ts
The client fills a missing recent value from string metadata.recent or "" for running and completed compactions. It transforms matching successful message-list responses, removes content-length from rebuilt responses, and passes the transformed authenticated client to OpenCode.make. Tests cover supported record formats and schema errors; the rollback-history fixture sets recent to 42.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "fix(opencode): decode compaction history from OpenCode 2.1" states the main change. The changeset normalizes history-page responses so compactions missing the top-level recent field decode correctly, and the tests cover that decoding path. The title is specific, uses a conventional commit format, and names the affected provider and version.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

Directly linked issue #22656 requires that rollback succeeds on OpenCode 2.1.2 when the conversation contains completed context compactions. The reported failure is SchemaError "Missing key" at ["data"][89]["recent"]. The whole-PR diff (merge base 692dd9c to head 6d72299) adds fillCompactionRecents in packages/provider-opencode/src/server/v2/OpenCode2Client.ts. It wraps the authenticated HttpClient that OpenCode.make uses. For successful GET responses whose URL matches /api/session/{id}/message, it decodes the page shape and fills a missing recent on running or completed compaction messages. The fill value is metadata.recent when that is a string, otherwise an empty string. Present recent values are not changed, so their validation stays downstream. Non-200, non-GET, non-matching URL, and unparseable page responses return the original response. Transformed responses drop content-length. The summary reports nine message-history tests in OpenCode2Client.test.ts covering running and completed compactions, native and legacy metadata cases, and invalid recent or reason values. The adapter fixture in apps/server/src/orchestration-v2/Adapters/OpenCode2AdapterV2.test.ts adds recent: 42 to a completed compaction. I did not run the tests or inspect the external rollback logs cited in the PR description. The code path and test sources support the verdict.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The whole-PR diff changes OpenCode2Client.ts and the adapter test OpenCode2AdapterV2.test.ts. The raw summary lists OpenCode2Client.test.ts as the third changed file. Its contents come from the summary, not from my diff read. The OpenCode2Client.ts change implements the decode fix for #22656. The adapter test change adds a recent field to a completed compaction fixture, which matches the required compaction shape. It is a supporting test edit. Dropping content-length is needed because the filled body length changes. The changes add no dependency, UI, platform, or unrelated provider code. I did not check for dependency or lockfile edits outside the listed files, because the summary lists no such files.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description follows the template's main sections: Problem, Change, Scope and approval, and Verification. The Problem and Change sections clearly explain the missing recent field, the provider-boundary normalization, and why T3 does not consume the field. The Scope section links issue #22656 and says the bug was triaged through the automated issue flow. The template asks for a maintainer approval comment or an explicit exemption for small fixes, and the description does not provide one. The Verification section gives detailed evidence, including test counts, real HTTP captures, and a rollback run. It also lists what was not verified. The description is long and links to many external artifacts, which makes parts of it harder to review. The template's Scope requirement is only partly met.

Resolution

Add a link to the triaged bug issue or to the discussion that shows maintainer approval of the direction and scope, including the approval comment. The template requires this for non-trivial changes. If the author treats this as a very small, focused fix of an obvious bug, the description should say why it qualifies without a prior issue or discussion. Also consider stating the changed files or the scope of the normalization in the Change section so reviewers can check it without opening external links. Verify that the linked external artifacts are reachable and that the evidence matches the final commit.

OpenCode 2.1 dropped the required recent field from compaction records,

CVE-2026-111497 is an out-of-bounds write in brotli's decoder (1.0.3 to
1.2.0) that permits remote code execution. Magnesium carried it three ways:

- OpenCode 2.0.32 bundles Bun 1.4.2, whose fetch and webfetch decode brotli
from any server. OpenCode 2.1.4 bundles the fixed Bun 1.4.4. The role and
the image move to it, checked against npm's published sha512.
- The image's git uses Debian's libbrotli1. The final stage now takes
Debian's security fixes and checks libbrotli1 is 1.0.9-2+deb12u1 or newer,
since a builder's cached apt layer kept the old one.
- The portable git that attached pods carry used EL8's brotli 1.0.6, which
has no fix yet. The bundle now builds brotli 1.0.10 from source, and the
build fails if git's copy is older.

OpenCode 2.1 drops a compaction's `recent` field, which the bundled 2.0.28
client requires, so rolling back a compacted thread failed. Upstream's open
fix (pingdotgg#22661) is ported, marked, and logged in upstream-changelog.md. The live
client and server tests pass against 2.1.4: one real turn, its event stream
and its history.

The role also restarts the server when it installs a new OpenCode, as it now
does for Node, so the old OpenCode server doesn't keep running.

Nitpick Return unchanged history pages without reserializing them.

Return unchanged history pages without reserializing them.

When a page has no compaction missing recent, Line 191 still serializes the entire page and creates a replacement response. This adds allocation and work to ordinary history requests, including paginated requests. Return the cached original response when no message changes.

As per coding guidelines, “Make sure all changes are considerate of performance impact.”

Nitpick Add a next-cursor case so the history wrapper's pagination metadata is tested.

67-91: Trivial · Maintainability & Code Quality · Quick win

Add a next-cursor case so the history wrapper's pagination metadata is tested.

Every listHistory response in this file uses cursor: {}, so no test sends a cursor.next value through fillCompactionRecents. The rewrite re-encodes every successful message.list body. A regression that drops cursor in that path would not fail any test. The history reader at adapter.ts:2913 uses OpenCode2Client.paginate, which stops when cursor.next is undefined, so a dropped cursor would truncate history after the first page.

Add one case to the existing it.effect.each table, or give listHistory an optional cursor argument. Return a non-empty cursor.next and assert that client.message.list returns that same cursor.next with the page data.

- AGENTS.md and usage docs: kept Cody's text with upstream's Kiro and Cursor wording.
- Sync notes: Effect crypto split, Kiro fixture, OpenCode auth in driver tests, two-call fork listing.

* fix(web): play completion sounds without delay (pingdotgg#29146)

Completion alerts waited two seconds after the client received a completed thread state. Audio was also fetched and decoded only when an alert needed to play, adding a first-play delay.

Notify immediately when the thread shell reports completion, and preload both sounds when a user gesture unlocks audio. Keep completion deduplication and suppression for existing, archived, and stopped runs.

This intentionally removes the continuation grace for completion alerts. A completed run can now notify before an automatic continuation starts. The sidebar's two-second placement grace and server settlement behavior remain in place.

Validation: `vp run check:changed` passes after merging current main, including 40 affected tests, formatting, lint, unused-code checks, affected typechecks, and React compiler checks. Tests cover immediate completion, duplicate suppression across reconnects, preloaded audio reuse, and retrying failed loads on alerts without retrying on every gesture. Audible timing has not been verified in a live client.

* fix(desktop): prepare macOS x64 bytecode under Rosetta (pingdotgg#29484)

* fix(server): keep PR watches active after host failures (pingdotgg#29450)

## Problem

PR watches stopped after eight failed host reads, so a prolonged network outage prevented later CI and review updates from reaching the thread.

## Change

Keep watches active after provider failures reported as `failed`. Read detail and activity concurrently without allowing an activity failure to cancel or hide a permanent detail failure. Repeated known permanent failures still stop the watch and notify the agent; rate limits still pause reads. Non-rate-limited GitHub HTTP 403 responses and GraphQL `FORBIDDEN` responses now use a distinct `forbidden` reason so access refusals are counted instead of retried indefinitely. GraphQL error types survive the client mapping, after the existing requested-reviewer fallback.

The provider's `failed` category also includes unclassified host and decode errors. Those continue retrying at the existing two-minute cadence until the watch ends or is stopped. A fixed outage deadline would recreate the recovery failure for longer outages.

## Scope and approval

This is a focused fix for an obvious bug in existing PR watch recovery, covered by the small bug-fix exception in CONTRIBUTING.md. The changes cover watcher recovery, a GitHub failure classification needed to preserve permanent-error handling, and their regression tests. The new server-side `forbidden` reason does not change RPC contracts or add settings.

## Verification

`vp run check:changed` passed, including 154 tests across five files. Regression coverage includes a 30-minute outage followed by one CI-success notification, mixed activity/detail failures, resetting a prior failure count, and repeated forbidden reads stopping the watch. Provider tests distinguish HTTP 403 and exclusively permanent GraphQL refusals from retryable HTTP 503 and mixed or untyped GraphQL errors. The mixed-failure and GraphQL classification cases failed before their fixes. Seven focused requested-reviewer fallback/refusal tests also pass.
