Problem

Right-click a file in Files, then click Copy mention: the menu disappears without copying or showing a toast. Add to chat is affected by the same event ordering.

The tree still considers its own context menu open while the application menu is displayed outside its shadow DOM. Its document-level mousedown listener treats pressing an application menu item as an outside click and restores tree focus. The application menu dismisses on that focus change, before its click handler can resolve the selected action.

Change

Close the tree's context-menu state with restoreFocus: false before opening the application menu, so the application menu owns focus and receives the selection. Add a browser regression test that opens the real tree menu and clicks Copy mention with the pointer.

Scope and approval

This is a small, focused fix to existing menu actions, qualifying for the obvious-bug exception in CONTRIBUTING.md. It adds no actions or changes to product scope.

Related context: #19569 proposed absolute and relative path copying and was closed pending maintainer agreement. We encountered this existing click bug while trying that functionality locally. This PR addresses only the broken existing interaction; approval for the feature remains separate.

Verification

• On upstream main (d07c0a7c7b), the new Copy mention browser test fails: the clipboard receives zero calls after clicking the visible menu item. With this fix, it receives [README.md](README.md) and passes.
• vp run check:changed passes format, lint, both knip passes, affected-package typechecks, and both adjacent browser tests.
• Manually in the running web app on Linux, using Chromium in T3's Browser panel: Copy mention now shows Mention copied and pastes a README.md mention into the composer. Add to chat also inserts the mention.
• Native Electron context-menu selection and mobile were not exercised. Mobile uses a separate file browser and is unchanged.

Before clicking Copy mention closes the menu with no toast; after it shows the success toast. The after capture also shows the mention inserted by Add to chat.

verified as-is at 054d61c434e805198df95dc458080f225fe7e63e on this linux boat vm, using the repository's playwright and /usr/bin/google-chrome against real background dev servers. no code changes or pushes were needed.
