Bring the package side of manaflow-ai#21423's Subrouter restore work onto current main: Codex and Claude resume routing that proves a Subrouter route from the wrapper-bound marker, captured argv or the captured CODEX_HOME config, restore planner and recovery planner hooks, and their tests. Eight of the tests fail here: the markerless fallback added for config-proven captures also reroutes argv-proven captures that carry no wrapper-bound marker, which the fail-closed tests forbid. The next commit fixes that. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
The markerless fallback was meant for older captures that prove the route through their CODEX_HOME config. It also fired for argv that names model_provider=subrouter without the wrapper-bound marker, so an inherited or untrusted marker rerouted a direct Codex restore. Use the stable `sr codex resume` launcher only when the argv names no provider and the config proves Subrouter; argv-proven routes still need the bound marker. Fixes the eight tests from the previous commit and adds a test for the config-proven path end to end. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
restoreMarkerEnvironment, the shell-command variants of usesSubrouterProvider/providerEvidence and their tokenizer are used only by manaflow-ai#21423's snapshot-import and workspace-binding code, which is not part of this change. Keep the package to what its existing callers exercise. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
LauncherResolution gained .rejected for a routed Codex record whose executable does not match its argv. The app's and the CLI's exhaustive switches did not handle it, so they no longer compiled. A rejected record is not resumed. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
capturedCodexExecutableMatches returned false when executablePath was nil, so such a capture was rejected and never restored, where main resumed it through sr codex resume. With no path, argv[0] itself must name Codex. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Replaying the captured launcher prefix in front of the planned argv duplicated the routed launcher (sr codex codex resume …) and dropped the cmux shim behind prefixes like caffeinate, reaching users who don't use Subrouter at all. It is not part of carrying Subrouter identity; remove it and its test from this change. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
…makes it ambiguous Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
The parser skipped table header lines but kept reading the keys under them, so [profiles.work] model_provider = "subrouter" made a plain Codex session restore through sr. Stop at the first [ or [[ header, treat text inside multi-line strings as opaque, match the exact key (model_providers.* no longer reads as ambiguous), and treat an unquoted value, a quoted key, an escape or a top-level profile key as ambiguous. A captured argv that selects a profile (--profile, -p, --profile=, -c profile=) also makes the config evidence ambiguous, since the profile can override the provider. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
…size files are not Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
…pened file attributesOfItem does not follow a symlink, so a linked config.toml was skipped and its route not proved; it also checked one file and then read another. Open the path (following a link, non-blocking), fstat the opened descriptor, require a regular file, and read at most 64 KiB from that handle. Document that the config is read at restore time. …back The check that refuses prepared argv carrying model_providers.subrouter.* ran only when the captured argv was empty. The .resolved(nil) and builtInKind-nil fallbacks still replayed it. Route all three through one helper. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
…custom Codex name Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
… the update override builtInKind checked the Subrouter provider with the argv-only evidence, which requires argv[0] to be named codex, so a custom Codex executable (codex-enterprise) replayed the captured dead localhost data-plane URL. The kind is known to be Codex here, so use the launcher-aware evidence. The rerouted argv also lacked the update-check suppression every cmux Codex resume carries, so a restore could stop at the update picker. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
…re planner The old test only asserted the evidence helpers. Plan a real restore for a capture that names no provider and check the CODEX_HOME config decides: subrouter routes through sr codex resume, openai does not. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
…able Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
…oute builtInKind rerouted any argv naming model_provider=subrouter to sr codex resume even when argv[0] was not the captured executable, while the same capture with a bound marker was rejected. Use the same identity rule on both paths. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Also reword the assertion message that read as if the inherited marker alone decided the route; it only means launcherResolution leaves the capture to builtInKind. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

Provider evidence and legacy command parsing Packages/macOS/CMUXAgentLaunch/Sources/CMUXAgentLaunch/SubrouterCodexResumeRouting.swift, Packages/macOS/CMUXAgentLaunch/Sources/CMUXAgentLaunch/CodexLegacyRestoreCommand.swift, Packages/macOS/CMUXAgentLaunch/Tests/CMUXAgentLaunchTests/SubrouterCodex*Tests.swift, Packages/macOS/CMUXAgentLaunch/Tests/CMUXAgentLaunchTests/CodexLegacyRestoreCommandTests.swift |
Provider evidence now accounts for Codex arguments, bounded config parsing, and bounded shell-command parsing. Legacy restore decisions route proven Subrouter assignments, refuse ambiguous commands that name Subrouter, and otherwise fall through. The captured routing environment no longer includes the Subrouter data-plane URL. |
Launcher identity and resume planning Packages/macOS/CMUXAgentLaunch/Sources/CMUXAgentLaunch/AgentResumeArgv.swift, Packages/macOS/CMUXAgentLaunch/Sources/CMUXAgentLaunch/AgentRestorePlanner.swift, Sources/RestorableAgentSession.swift, Packages/macOS/CMUXAgentLaunch/Tests/CMUXAgentLaunchTests/AgentResumeArgvTests.swift, Packages/macOS/CMUXAgentLaunch/Tests/CMUXAgentLaunchTests/CodexForkSanitizerTests.swift, Packages/macOS/CMUXAgentLaunch/Tests/CMUXAgentLaunchTests/AgentExternalLauncherTests.swift |
Codex resume routing checks provider evidence and captured executable identity before building an sr codex resume command. Restore planning filters prepared arguments and avoids external-launcher wrapping for routed arguments. Rejected launcher resolution no longer proceeds through direct resume construction. |
Legacy restore and recovery integration CLI/CMUXCLI+AdmittedRestore.swift, CLI/cmux.swift, Sources/RestorableAgentSession.swift, Packages/macOS/CMUXAgentLaunch/Sources/CMUXAgentLaunch/AgentSessionRecoveryPlanner.swift, Packages/macOS/CMUXAgentLaunch/Tests/CMUXAgentLaunchTests/AgentRestoreLaunchTests.swift, Packages/macOS/CMUXAgentLaunch/Tests/CMUXAgentLaunchTests/AgentLaunchEnvironmentPolicyTests.swift, Packages/macOS/CMUXAgentLaunch/Tests/CMUXAgentLaunchTests/AgentSessionRecoveryTests.swift, Packages/macOS/CMUXAgentLaunch/Tests/CMUXAgentLaunchTests/SubrouterCodexLegacyRestoreTests.swift |
The admitted-restore path uses legacy routing decisions, and Codex recovery does not replay a recorded launcher prefix. Tests cover restore decisions, invocation planning, and environment handling. |

Full details: Title check
-
Explanation
The title names the main change: legacy Subrouter Codex sessions now restore through
srand their persisted command is not replayed. The raw summary confirms this focus: legacy restore routes proven Subrouter commands tosr codex resume <id>, refuses unreadable Subrouter commands, and falls through for other commands. The title is specific and matches the changeset. The objective also centers on this behavior. The title is 95 characters, slightly long, but it is still clear and on topic. The '(#21423part)' reference adds issue context but does not hurt the summary.
Full details: Description check
-
Explanation
The description follows the template sections: Summary, Testing, Changelog, and Proof-related content is partly covered. The Summary explains the problem, the mechanism, and the resulting behavior, and it lists the decision outcomes (route, refuse, fall-through) and known limits. The Testing section separates tests added from tests executed, names focused commands, and includes an 'Observed / Not run' subsection, as the template asks for a bug fix. It states what was not run, including cmuxTests, the CLI legacy branch, and live restore. The Changelog has a single user-facing line. The Proof section is absent, which is a minor gap, since the change is not user-visible UI and the description does not explain why no proof is provided. The Checklist is also absent, which is a minor gap. The description also says the full package run passed 903 tests, while the objectives say 899 tests. This conflict is worth noting for the author, though it does not change the assessment. Overall the description is mostly complete, so the check passes.
Full details: Cmux Cloud Persistent Session And Early Input
-
Explanation
The pull request changes Codex/Subrouter restore parsing and planning only. The changed-file inventory contains no Cloud terminal creation, persistent cmux-tui transport, manual renderer, Ghostty runtime admission, attachment input handling, or auth/revision/lease transport changes covered by the rule.
Full details: Cmux Swift Actor Isolation
-
Explanation
The production diff does not introduce or worsen the listed actor-isolation defects. The new
SubrouterCodexProviderEvidenceenum andSubrouterCodexResumeRoutingservice-like value are explicitlySendable(SubrouterCodexResumeRouting.swift:8, 22), and the changed planners and resume models are also existingSendablevalue types. The diff adds no class, actor, service protocol,@MainActorUI store, or shared mutableSendablereference type.CMUXCLIremains a plain struct, and the changed CLI paths only construct and call Sendable restore value types.
Full details: Cmux Swift Blocking Runtime
-
Explanation
PASS. The production Swift diff adds no semaphores, blocking waits, sleeps, delayed dispatch, polling, main-queue sync, or manual locks. The new config read uses
open(... O_NONBLOCK ...)and then verifies a regular file before the bounded read (SubrouterCodexResumeRouting.swift:675-686); this is bounded file I/O, not synchronization. The synchronization-term scan of all added non-test Swift lines found no prohibited runtime primitive.
Full details: Cmux Browser Automation Off-Main
-
Explanation
PASS: The pull request changes restore and Subrouter Codex routing files only. It does not modify TerminalController.swift, ControlCommandExecutionPolicy.swift, or any browser socket automation code. The reviewed diff contains no browser.*, WebKit, processV2Command, or socketWorkerMethods changes, so this check is not applicable.
Full details: Cmux Expensive Synchronous Load
-
Explanation
The diff adds no
RestorableAgentSessionIndex.load(), hook/session-store load, transcript or trajectory read, directory scan, or large JSON/JSONL parse. The only new file read isreadCapturedConfigToml, which opens one regularCODEX_HOME/config.tomland reads at most 64 KiB. Shell evidence is also bounded to 16 KiB and 256 tokens. These focused reads support restore planning and do not load agent history.
Full details: Cmux Cache Substitution Correctness
-
Explanation
No cache substitution is introduced. The production diff changes restore planning and routing only.
SubrouterCodexResumeRoutingreadsCODEX_HOME/config.tomldirectly at restore time with boundedopen/fstat/read; it does not replace a fresh read with cached state. TheRestorableAgentSessionchange only rejects unsafe routed records. No persistence, history, undo, or snapshot consumer now trusts a cold or stale cache.
Full details: Cmux Algorithmic Complexity
-
Explanation
The changed production code uses linear scans over bounded command/config input and fixed-size collections. Shell evidence is capped at 16 KiB and 256 tokens, config reads at 64 KiB, and routing key/prefix lists contain only a few fixed entries. The diff adds no per-workspace, per-session, UI, socket, search, process, or persistence batch rescans, and no nested scan over scalable user-owned records.
Full details: Cmux Swift Concurrency
-
Explanation
The Swift diff adds synchronous restore routing, parsing, and bounded file inspection. It does not add or expand Dispatch queues, Tasks, Combine state, completion-handler APIs, callback pyramids, or other listed legacy async patterns. The added tests also contain no flagged runtime concurrency pattern.
Full details: Cmux Swift `@Concurrent`
-
Explanation
PASS. The Swift diff adds no
async, nonisolated async,@concurrent, or@MainActordeclarations. The new routing and bounded config-read logic is synchronous value/file logic inCMUXAgentLaunch. Its CLI caller is not UI-isolated, and the existing async restore flow has no changed actor isolation. No rule violation is introduced.
Full details: Cmux Swift Package Boundaries
-
Explanation
PASS. The new Subrouter Codex routing, shell evidence parsing, legacy restore decisions, and restore planning logic are implemented in the existing
CMUXAgentLaunchSwiftPM target, with focused package tests. The changed app/CLI files only compose restore requests, handle planner results, and map errors. No independently testable domain logic was added to the app target's rootSources/path, and no package-boundary violation is present.
Full details: Cmux Swiftpm Lockfiles
-
Explanation
The pull request changes only Swift source and test files. It does not change a Package.swift manifest, Package.resolved lockfile, .gitignore, workflow, or Xcode project package references. Therefore, the SwiftPM lockfile policy has no applicable violation.
Full details: Cmux Swift Logging
-
Explanation
PASS. The production diff adds no
print, debugPrint, dump,NSLog, stdout/stderr diagnostics, or ad hoc logging. The newFileHandleuse reads a bounded config file, not a log. The two newloggedRestoreErrorcalls use the existing unifiedLogger; their session detail is logged with private hash redaction. Thetee logstring is test input.
Full details: Cmux User-Facing Error Privacy
-
Explanation
PASS. The new legacy-restore refusal and planning-failure paths reach the product CLI through
CLIError, but both use the existing generic message: “this session's saved restore data is not compatible.” The addedSubrouterand session values are only in comments, argv/configuration handling, or private hashed OSLog diagnostics; they are not included in user-facing output. No changed alert, API body, or recovery copy exposes a provider name, provider flag, environment variable, raw message, or session ID.
Full details: Cmux Full Internationalization
-
Explanation
The production diff adds no new untranslated user-facing text. The only new user-visible error uses
String(localized:defaultValue:)with the existingcli.restore.error.incompleteDatakey.Resources/Localizable.xcstringsalready contains translated entries for en, ja, zh-Hans, de, fr, ar, es, zh-Hant, and ko. Other added strings are protocol/config tokens, internal diagnostics, or developer comments. No web UI, metadata, plist, or catalog files changed.
Full details: Cmux Swiftui State Layout
-
Explanation
The pull request changes only CLI and CMUXAgentLaunch restore-routing code and tests. The changed-file diff contains no SwiftUI views or SwiftUI state/layout constructs, so the cmux SwiftUI state-layout check is not applicable.
Full details: Cmux Architecture Rethink
-
Explanation
PASS. The diff adds restore-policy and argv planning logic, not a lifecycle workaround. It introduces no sleeps, delayed dispatch, polling, notification waits, locks, observers, caches, singletons, or mutable cross-surface state.
SubrouterCodexResumeRoutingowns provider evidence and legacy decisions.AgentResumeArgvandAgentRestorePlannerconsume that shared policy, andAgentResumeArgvremains the shared resume-argv source. The boundedopen/fstatpath is a documented file bridge withO_NONBLOCKto reject FIFOs; it has no timing dependency. The diff contains no SwiftUI or AppKit lifecycle ownership change.
Full details: Cmux Swift Auxiliary Window Close Shortcuts
-
Explanation
The check is not applicable. The PR changes Codex/Subrouter restore logic, CLI resume handling, and tests only. The reviewed diff adds or changes no NSWindow, NSPanel, NSWindowController, SwiftUI Window/WindowGroup, cmux.* window identifier, or close-shortcut routing code.
Full details: Cmux Source Artifacts
-
Explanation
The changed-file inventory contains only
.swiftfiles: 10 modified source files, 5 modified test files, and 2 new test files. No path matches the prohibited artifact directories or generated-output categories in.github/review-bot-rules/source-control-artifacts.md.
Full details: Cmux No Test Or Debug Seam In Production Source
-
Explanation
PASS. The changed production Swift files add no
#if DEBUGor test-build-only members, and no member uses the prohibited debug/test naming patterns. The new public members implement Subrouter provider-evidence and restore routing; production callers use them in the restore planner, resume builder, and CLI. No widened visibility plus test-only wrapper accessor is present.

Move the captured config read off the main actor.
DockSplitStore is @MainActor, and its restore path evaluates restorableAgent.resumeCommand. That reaches resumeArguments, which performs synchronous open, fstat, and FileHandle.read operations on CODEX_HOME/config.toml. This can add a file read for each hibernated restore record and can block restore UI work. O_NONBLOCK does not make the regular-file fstat or read asynchronous.
Resolve the config evidence in an off-main restore plan and pass it into command construction, or otherwise move this lookup out of the main-actor path. The package planner path shows one launcherResolution call, not three reads per invocation.

Leaving this one for maintainers to weigh, not changing it here. The read is a single bounded open(O_RDONLY|O_NONBLOCK|O_CLOEXEC), an fstat that requires a regular file, and at most 64 KiB from that handle. It happens only when argv names no provider and no profile is selected, so only for older captures. O_NONBLOCK keeps a FIFO from blocking, but you're right that it doesn't make a regular-file read asynchronous, so a CODEX_HOME on a slow network volume could stall a main-actor restore briefly. Moving it properly means resolving provider evidence in an off-main restore plan and threading it into command construction for Dock and Workspace, which is a larger change than this PR. Happy to do it as a follow-up if you'd like it before merge.

@danielraffel Understood. The 64 KiB limit bounds the read size, but not filesystem latency. The main-actor I/O concern remains valid.
I’ll leave the scope decision to maintainers and won’t request changes again here. Would you like me to open a follow-up issue for resolving config evidence off-main and passing it into Dock and Workspace command construction?

… managed wrapper Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
…wrapper A capture whose argv names Subrouter without the launch marker is rerouted to the fixed `sr codex resume <id>`, but managed-wrapper routing only recognised the marker and config-proven prefixes. So SUBROUTER_CODEX_BIN was never pointed at cmux's Codex wrapper: Subrouter ran the real Codex, SessionStart didn't fire and the resumed session lost cmux's hooks. The captured custom Codex executable was dropped for the same reason. The planner now treats that fixed prefix like the other routed prefixes, setting SUBROUTER_CODEX_BIN to the wrapper shim, CMUX_CUSTOM_CODEX_PATH to the captured executable and the restore-launch authorization. …reroute Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
…reroute A declared external launcher is skipped for routes cmux owns, but the check recognised only the marker-based Subrouter route, so a markerless capture rerouted to the fixed `sr codex resume` came back as `<launcher> sr codex resume …`. Treat the fixed prefix as owned too. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
Older snapshots kept only a hook binding whose command is a shell string. These tests expect a plain Codex invocation to report its provider and anything else - conflicting providers, shell operators, expansions, substitutions, globs, home or history expansion, comments, unterminated quotes, line breaks, control characters, a prefixed or non-Codex command, an oversized command or too many words - to be ambiguous, which never routes. … literal only providerEvidence(inShellCommand:) reads at most 16 KiB and 256 words, splits the command the way a POSIX shell would for literal text, and counts only a plain codex / sr codex / subrouter codex invocation. Any operator, expansion, substitution, glob, comment, unterminated quote, line break, control character, prefix or conflicting provider is ambiguous, which never routes. The command is evidence only; nothing here runs it. (The test file's single-quoted-backslash case now expects absent: that names a different key, so no provider is recorded.) …xed sr A record with only a persisted shell command that proves Subrouter must plan sr codex resume <id> from a canonical capture, never carrying the captured per-process endpoint; unproven, other-provider, conflicting or unparseable commands must not be routed, and an inline CODEX_HOME is kept. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
…ying it A restore record written before structured launch capture has only a persisted shell command, and its captured model_providers.subrouter route points at a provider process from the previous run. When that command proves Subrouter (a literal resume parsed by CodexLegacyRestoreCommand, or the bounded shell-command reader), restore now plans from the canonical capture codex -c model_provider=subrouter, which the planner resumes as sr codex resume <id>. A command that names Subrouter but doesn't prove it fails closed with the existing incompatible-data error instead of replaying. The legacy command's other options aren't carried. … only unreadable Subrouter Ordinary legacy commands that merely mention subrouter (a CODEX_HOME under ~/.subrouter, --cd into a subrouter checkout) with another provider or none must keep their existing restore path; only a command that proves Subrouter routes, and only one that names a Subrouter provider in a form that can't be read (conflicting, injected, a resume naming another session, a non-UUID session) refuses. Also: the tokenizer reads Unicode scalars so a combining mark can't hide a quote, an embedded newline is ambiguous, captured launch environment and verification home are carried, and a non-breaking space doesn't split CodexLegacyRestoreCommand words. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
The previous change refused any legacy Codex command whose text mentioned
both "model_provider" and "subrouter", so ordinary records that only name
Subrouter in a path (a CODEX_HOME under ~/.subrouter, or a checkout of the
Subrouter repo) with another provider stopped restoring.
legacyRestoreDecision now returns route, refuse or fallThrough:
- route only on provider("subrouter") evidence, to the fixed `sr codex
resume` capture, carrying the captured launch environment and
verification home with any inline CODEX_HOME/HOME winning;
- refuse only when the command names a Subrouter provider assignment the
reader can't parse safely;
- fall through to the existing CodexLegacyRestoreCommand path otherwise.
The shell-command reader now walks Unicode scalars (a quote followed by a
combining mark is still a quote, as in the shell), the fallback requires a
UUID session and rejects a `resume` naming another session, and
CodexLegacyRestoreCommand splits only on space and tab. The CLI applies the
decision only to resume-agent records.

…r the saved home Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
The routed path merged the record's saved environment over the decision's environment with the saved value winning, so a saved CODEX_HOME or HOME replaced the account the legacy command named and the resume could look in the wrong home. legacyRestoreDecision now layers the captured launch, then the saved environment, then the command's inline assignments, the same order the literal-resume path uses, and the CLI no longer re-merges. Summary
Older Subrouter-routed Codex sessions whose restore record has only a persisted shell command now resume through the fixed
sr codex resume <id>route when that command proves Subrouter, and are refused rather than replayed when it names Subrouter in a form that can't be read safely. Every other legacy command restores exactly as before.Depends only on #24428 (package-side Subrouter session identity). This branch is #24428's head plus the commits below.
Why. Restore records written before cmux captured structured launch data have only a persisted shell command, for example
codex -c model_provider=subrouter -c model_providers.subrouter.base_url=http://127.0.0.1:41234/v1 resume <id>. The endpoint it names belonged to a Subrouter process from the previous run, so replaying it can't reach the provider. With #24428, commands the existing literal parser (CodexLegacyRestoreCommand) accepts are already rerouted by the planner. This PR covers the commands that parser rejects (noresumepositional,sr codex …/subrouter codex …, a trailing prompt), and makes an unreadable Subrouter command fail closed instead of being replayed. What changes
CMUXAgentLaunch):SubrouterCodexResumeRouting.providerEvidence(inShellCommand:)reads provider evidence from a persisted command, as evidence only. It reads at most 16 KiB and 256 words, walks Unicode scalars (as a shell reads bytes, so a quote followed by a combining mark is still a quote), splits literal text the way a POSIX shell would, and accepts only a plaincodex …,sr codex …orsubrouter codex …invocation. These make the resultambiguous, which never routes:$or backquote expansion or substitution;~,!or#;cd … &&andVAR=value);legacyRestoreDecision(legacyCommand:sessionID:workingDirectory:capturedLaunch:)returns one of:.routeonly when the evidence isprovider("subrouter"): the canonical capturecodex -c model_provider=subrouter, carrying the captured launch environment, then the record's saved environment, then any inlineCODEX_HOME/HOMEfrom the command, which wins (the same order as the literal-resume path), plus the captured verification home. CMUXAgentLaunch: carry Subrouter session identity through restore #24428's planner resumes it assr codex resume <id>through its markerless reroute and argv[0] identity check. The command's own options and endpoint are never carried..refuseonly when the evidence is ambiguous and the command names a Subrouter provider assignment (model_provider=subrouter, ormodel_providers.subrouter.*)..fallThroughotherwise, so the existing legacy path runs unchanged. A command that merely mentions subrouter, such as aCODEX_HOMEunder~/.subrouteror a checkout of the Subrouter repo with another provider, restores as before.resumenaming a different session makes the evidence ambiguous.CodexLegacyRestoreCommandnow splits only on space and tab, as a shell does; U+00A0 and other Unicode spaces are ordinary characters.CMUXCLI+AdmittedRestore.swift): for resume-agent records only, a legacy Codex restore applies that decision: route plans from the canonical capture, refuse stops with the existing "saved restore data is not compatible" error, fall-through keeps the existing path.Trade-off. A routed legacy record's other launch options (model, approval mode and so on) aren't carried, because they live in text this PR deliberately doesn't replay. The routed capture is plain
codex, so a custom Codex binary named only in the legacy command text isn't carried; one recorded in the captured launch is, through #24428's managed-wrapper routing.Known limits (unchanged from the #24428 base):
model_providers.subrouter.*with nomodel_provider, or one that spells Subrouter in an escaped or split form together with a conflicting provider, still falls through to the existing path, which replays its options as argv (never as shell). Realsrcaptures carry both options, so this needs hand-crafted text.subrouter, so a contrived ambiguous command withmodel_provider=subrouter-ishis refused rather than falling through.Follow-ups, not in this PR:
Left out on purpose:
cmux restore <kind> <id>and the CLI re-resolves the record, so the routing fix lives in the CLI's legacy path.Testing

Fixed: restoring an older Subrouter Codex session resumes it through
srinstead of a saved command whose provider route no longer exists.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
