chore(release): bump versions for v1.12.0 - #2888
Conversation
139 commits have landed since v1.11.0. Apply the release checker's bumps against v1.11.0 with VERSION_OVERRIDE=1.12.0, refresh the workspace pins and Cargo.lock, add engine-zmq-adapter and engine-servicer to the crates.io publish tiers (smg depends on both), and bump smg-grpc-servicer to 0.13.3 so PyPI picks up #2878 and #2879. Description
Problem
139 commits have landed since
v1.11.0. The crates workflow has no tier for the two crates #2727 added,engine-zmq-adapterandengine-servicer, andsmgdepends on both (the adapter as a dependency, the servicer as a dev-dependency), so the final-tier publish ofsmgwould fail on crates.io. Andsmg-grpc-servicer0.13.2 on PyPI predates #2878 and #2879, the two SGLang 0.5.21 fixes to the Python servicer (valid sampling defaults in the gRPC warmup, health signals on the tokenizer socket).Solution
Apply the version bumps the release checker proposes against
v1.11.0withVERSION_OVERRIDE=1.12.0, refresh the workspace pins andCargo.lock, add the two crates to the crates workflow as tiers 3 and 4 withsmgmoving to tier 5, and bump the servicer so the gRPC PyPI workflow republishes it.Changes
smg1.11.0 → 1.12.0, and the same version for the Python and Go bindings, the Helm chart (versionandappVersion) and the four engine Docker release workflows (TokenSpeed's included now that ci(release): build the TokenSpeed image against SMG v1.11.0 #2676 registered it with the checker).openai-protocol1.15.0,reasoning-parser1.9.0,tool-parser1.9.0,llm-tokenizer1.9.0,kv-index1.6.0,llm-multimodal1.13.0,smg-grpc-client1.14.0,engine-zmq-client0.3.0,smg-external-router0.2.0. The two new crates publish at their initial 0.1.0.smg-symphonyispublish = falseand nothing published depends on it.Cargo.tomldependency pins andCargo.lockupdated to match (cargo update -w --offline, 12 entries)..github/workflows/release-crates.yml: tier 3 becomes a matrix ofllm-multimodalandengine-zmq-adapter(its workspace dependencies areengine-zmq-clientandopenai-protocolin tier 1,smg-grpc-clientandllm-tokenizerin tier 2); a new tier 4 publishesengine-servicer(engine-zmq-adapterplus tier 1 and 2 crates);smgmoves to tier 5. The other tiers are unchanged since v1.11.0 verified them.smg-grpc-servicer0.13.2 → 0.13.3. Itssmg-grpc-proto>=0.4.24floor is unchanged: 0.4.24 on PyPI is current, since the proto's last bump landed with its last change in feat(router): support Decisions over SGLang gRPC #2867. Merging triggers the gRPC PyPI workflow. On the
!commitfeat(discovery)!: tagged discovery config with one runtime conversion(#2833) changes the Rust API of thesmgcrate:DiscoveryConfigis a tagged enum,ServiceDiscoveryConfig.enabledis gone, andServerConfig.service_discovery_configis anOption<RuntimeDiscoveryConfig>. The checker maps that marker to a major bump and proposed 2.0.0. This release ships it as a minor on purpose, as v1.11.0 did for #2532: CLI flags, Python arguments, serialized configs and the Helm chart all keep working (--service-discoverystays as the legacy spelling of--discovery-provider kubernetes), crates.io lists no reverse dependencies ofsmg, and the in-repo Python binding was migrated in the same change. The release notes carry the migration table for anyone building on the crate directly.Test Plan
make check-versions TAG=v1.11.0 VERSION_OVERRIDE=1.12.0reports every crate bumped and ends with "All versions consistent."cargo update -w --offlineproduced the 12Cargo.lockversion updates in this PR;cargo metadata --lockedresolves.rustup run nightly cargo fmt --all -- --checkandgit diff --checkclean (no Rust source changed). The publish workflow parses, with theneedschain tier1 → tier2 → tier3 → tier4 → tier5.1.11.0reference remains outsideCargo.lockhistory.smg-grpc-servicer0.13.2 andsmg-grpc-proto0.4.24 are the latest; the servicer's last bump (feat(router): support Decisions over SGLang gRPC #2867) predates fix(sglang): send valid sampling defaults in gRPC warmup #2878 and fix(sglang): handle health signals from the tokenizer socket #2879, which changesglang/request_manager.pyandsglang/server.py.cargo clippy --workspace --all-targets -- -D warningsstops inkv-index'smooncake_replaybench on Linux-onlylibcsymbols (clock_nanosleep,cpu_set_t), as it does onmain;cargo teststopped atllm-multimodal'sparallelism_poolintegration test, which expects the preprocessing pool to name three threads and finds none on macOS (the Linux-only test assumptions feat(router): support Decisions on the regular HTTP router #2863 and feat(router): support native System One API #2865 note); 21 test binaries before it passed. A--no-fail-fastrun of the whole workspace on 1.98: 170 test binaries, 7,369 passed, 3 failed, 45 ignored. The three failures are macOS-only:parallelism_poolcounts threads through/proc/self/task, and the twoallocator_artifact_testcases check that jemalloc applied the executable's embeddedmalloc_conf, which this platform's jemalloc does not take (feat(kv_index): the chain index, a lossless KV-event relay with state snapshots, and liveness-aware cache routing #2814 validated them on Linux). This version-only PR changes no Rust source, so the Linux CI lanes are the gate.Checklist
