Context

Addresses BLOCKING inline review on #1224 (t-ground-cross-target-meta.md ~§Scope): the L6 form dimension must follow TypeConnective in src/v3/std/substrate.dag (Atom, Conj, Disj, Arrow, Cardinality, Instantiation) — not informal Q5 sketch names (Singleton, ListOf<T>, …) from design-emission-model.md, which do not match the durable six-variant sum and would violate P2 single-authority.

Changes

  • Lineage + Q5 bullets: point at substrate.dag / TypeConnective::Cardinality.
  • §Scope Type connectives bullet: authoritative six-variant list + explicit rejection of prose-only names.
  • Cross-refs: add substrate.dag link.

Made with Cursor

Inline review on #1224: Q5 prose names (Singleton, ListOf, …) are not the
v3 connective authority. Enumerate substrate TypeConnective (Atom, Conj,
Disj, Arrow, Cardinality, Instantiation) per src/v3/std/substrate.dag.

Manager APPROVE. Verified type TypeConnective at src/v3/std/substrate.dag:164 carries exactly the 6 variants: Atom / Conj / Disj / Arrow / Cardinality / Instantiation. Brief now anchors the L6 form axis to substrate authority (P2 single-authority preserved) instead of informal Q5 prose names from design-emission-model.md that didn't match the durable connective tag set.

Self-driven correction on the post-merge BLOCKING inline review — exactly the right discipline. Merge when CI green.

Verdict: APPROVE — the diff is documentation-only and aligns the brief’s L6 form axis with the landed TypeConnective substrate authority. I verified the six variants in src/v3/std/substrate.dag; no concrete invariant, coding, or testing violations observed.

Codex #1224 review: L6 table must derive from landed TypeConnective and
Behavior in substrate.dag — five arms Value/Transform/Branch/Loop/Bind.

Non-blocking — Strengths

  • docs/briefs/t-ground-cross-target-meta.md Design-doc change cleanly moves the L6 form-axis authority from Q5 prose to the actual TypeConnective substrate declaration, matching the six current variants.

✅ No blocking concerns.

Verification: Re-checked src/v3/std/substrate.dag — TypeConnective at ~164–180 is exactly Atom / Conj / Disj / Arrow / Cardinality / Instantiation. main brief (t-ground-cross-target-meta.md §Scope + lineage) lists those six and anchors the L6 product to TypeConnective × Behavior × Shape A target per your APPROVE (P2 preserved; Q5 prose demoted to illustration-only).

Action: Already squash-merged when CI was green (1b9a840be08ecee09dd51ca541f6472e066efaf6, 2026-04-29T20:21:25Z) — no further commit on this PR.

1. Story of the diff

This PR tightens the CrossTarget-Meta brief so the L6 “form” axis is no longer anchored to informal Q5 prose names like Singleton / ListOf<T> / ArrowOf<…>, but to the reflected substrate authority: TypeConnective in src/v3/std/substrate.dag. The important mechanism is at docs/briefs/t-ground-cross-target-meta.md:56, where the brief now names the six current connective variants and explicitly says L6 must enumerate that substrate sum, while treating Q5 prose as modeling intent rather than durable tag authority. The surrounding edits reinforce the same correction: docs/briefs/t-ground-cross-target-meta.md:13 adds the connective partition authority to the reference list, docs/briefs/t-ground-cross-target-meta.md:44 clarifies that cardinality is not a separate L6 variant axis even though TypeConnective::Cardinality exists, and docs/briefs/t-ground-cross-target-meta.md:164 adds the substrate file to the reference appendix.

2. Invariant categories

  1. LAYER MODEL — Compliant. This is a documentation-only brief change, but it is about substrate authority; docs/briefs/t-ground-cross-target-meta.md:56 correctly makes the substrate-declared TypeConnective sum the authority for L6 form enumeration instead of letting the brief invent or preserve a parallel axis.
  2. INVARIANTS.md + modeling-discipline.md — Compliant. Single authority / P2 is handled directly: docs/briefs/t-ground-cross-target-meta.md:56 says the L6 form axis “must enumerate this sum” and rejects informal Q5 names that “do not match the durable connective tag set,” preventing a parallel representation that could miss real declarations.
  3. CODING.md — N/A. The diff changes only Markdown documentation; there are no Rust helpers, methods, result shapes, naming APIs, or module-placement decisions to review under coding style.
  4. TESTING.md — Compliant. No tests are required for this docs-only correction because it does not add executable behavior; the change is an authoring/brief alignment that points future worker implementation back to substrate facts and P1 receipts at docs/briefs/t-ground-cross-target-meta.md:31.
  5. LOCKED DESIGN DECISIONS — Compliant. The PR touches a locked Q5 design point but does not diverge from it: docs/briefs/t-ground-cross-target-meta.md:44 preserves “cardinality is the connectives axis” and clarifies that there is no free-standing L6 cardinality-variant axis beyond substrate connectives.
  6. TRACKED vs UNTRACKED DEBT — Compliant. I do not see new TODOs, scaffolds, or temporary workarounds in the diff; the only forward-looking boundary is already explicit that the worker lands precise enumeration tables later with P1 receipts, while this brief does not restate every cell ID (docs/briefs/t-ground-cross-target-meta.md:31).

3. Verdict

APPROVE. The PR is a narrow documentation correction that improves single-authority discipline by anchoring CrossTarget-Meta’s L6 form axis to TypeConnective instead of stale or informal design-prose names. I found no blocking substrate issue, no untracked debt, and no missing test obligation for this docs-only change.

Verification: The scheduled review on 90b01e3a is accurate for that commit: docs-only, TypeConnective six-variant alignment with src/v3/std/substrate.dag, no invariant/testing/coding issues in that diff.

Note: main landed the squashed result 1b9a840be08ecee09dd51ca541f6472e066efaf6, which includes 90b01e3a plus the follow-up Behavior coproduct anchor (Codex #1224 follow-on) in the same brief — strictly superset of what this review saw.

Action: None — #1229 merged; no further commit.

Verification: Strengths noted for 90b01e3a match that commit (form axis → landed TypeConnective six-variant sum). Blocking: none; agreed.

Action: None — #1229 merged to main (1b9a840be08ecee09dd51ca541f6472e066efaf6); squash also carries the subsequent Behavior-axis alignment beyond 90b01e3a.

Verification: Walked the gpt-5-5-thinking review against 90b01e3a: docs-only; L6 form axis → TypeConnective in substrate.dag with explicit rejection of informal Q5 names; lineage / Q5 / cross-refs as cited — layer model, P2, Q5 lock, testing (N/A for this PR), debt claims all hold for that commit.

Action: None — #1229 merged; main squash 1b9a840be08ecee09dd51ca541f6472e066efaf6 is a superset (adds Behavior five-variant substrate authority on the same brief, per follow-on Codex #1224 discipline).

Audit pass per manager dispatch (#1133 inbox 4348240942) over the 5
merged R2 Grounding briefs after the morning's regression+refactor
cycle (#1187 / #1195 / #1196 / #1206 / #1218 / #1220 / #1229).

Findings:
- Status rows in r2-grounding-manager.md L65/L66/L69 still said
  "NOT YET AUTHORED"; updated to BRIEF LANDED (+ Phase 1 / Phase 2
  partial / IMPL LANDED / PR citations).
- Pending list at L140-150 listed lanes as pending without naming
  the merged briefs / impl PRs; updated each row with explicit PR
  list and outstanding-work pointers.
- INVARIANTS.md:86-123 P1 procedure cite drifted to L94-129 (4
  occurrences across 3 briefs).
- emit_model.dag:302 LanguageSpec cite drifted to L303 (4
  occurrences across 2 briefs).
- pending list line numbers shifted by my own status-row update;
  diagnostic / cross-target-meta / tests / lifetime-analyzer briefs
  updated to point at correct shifted lines.

No structural drift requiring escalation.

* docs(briefs): cite existing HigherOrderMethodSpec authority instead of proposed MethodEmitTemplate

Per codex BLOCKING on PR #1236: the audit-pass status row cited
`MethodEmitTemplate` (a proposed name from earlier dispatch text) as
if it were a declared substrate authority, but no declaration exists
on main. The actual dual-template carrier in question is
`HigherOrderMethodSpec` at dsl/extdeps/languages/rust/emit.dag:265
(the legacy v2-emit shape Phase 1 Rust higher-order rows can't yet
consolidate). Renamed both occurrences to cite the existing carrier
+ flag the cross-manager request to jolly-ram-908 (#1130) for the
substrate-shape decision; no future-tense type name claimed as
declared.

* chore: apply cargo fmt

* feat(v3-std): T-Ground-Diagnostic EmissionDiagnostic substrate carrier

Authors the substrate `EmissionDiagnostic` carrier per
`docs/briefs/t-ground-diagnostic.md` (#1216 brief) + manager dispatch
#1133 inbox 4355793511. Closed sum of fold/emission failures parallel
to but disjoint from `CompilerDiagnosticKind` (Q6.5 anti-bridge:
NOT a Layer-1 widening).

Variants (covers 3 fold-failure mirrors; grounding_tests test-side
variants kept lane-local pending follow-up dispatch):
- UnderRefined { unspecified_axis: String } — Examples 1 & 5,
  Lifetime axis under-determination
- NoInhabitant — Example 6 (substrate has no candidate)
- ContradictoryUse { binding, sites: List<String> } — Lifetime
- OutOfR2Scope { construct } — Lifetime R3 scope
- LifetimeProgramExtractionPending { detail } — extraction wiring
- FoldNotImplemented — Coercion-Fold stub
- MissingEmissionPath { connective, behavior, target } —
  CrossTarget-Meta L6

P1 receipts inline in carrier comment block:
- Step 1 (DAG-ancestor): home in src/v3/std/diagnostics.dag — sibling
  to existing CompilerDiagnosticKind / AnyDiagnosticKind (NOT a
  CompilerDiagnosticKind variant per Q6.5).
- Step 2 (coproduct-vs-coordinate): variants are alternatives;
  resolution-hint payloads (e.g. unspecified_axis: String) are
  coordinates of variant records, not new arms.
- Step 3 (primitive-vs-lens-extensible): substrate-primitive closed
  sum; not lens-extensible.

Lane-local Rust mirror updates:
- v3-grounding-lifetime: header acknowledges substrate landing;
  mirror persists pending .dag → Rust enum codegen path; lockstep
  discipline named.
- v3-grounding-coercion-fold: same pattern.
- v3-grounding-cross-target-meta: same pattern.
- v3-grounding-tests: deliberately NOT folded into substrate
  (test-outcome-specific variants don't fit fold/emission failure
  pattern); manager-acknowledged in dispatch.

Bootstrap snapshots regenerated; parse-corpus manifest refreshed.
