⚠️ base-red inherited: #18791

Summary

Clears the two reds left in the Release-Green run 41919294707 (head 570dbd06).

check:pack-boot TIMEOUT

The tarball boot-smoke packs the tree and installs the real tarball, under a 15-minute limit in validate-release-green.mjs. #18869 added 8,885 docs mirrors to the package, and the gate no longer fits. It now uses the same 40-minute limit as the package lane next to it. The validate job has no timeout-minutes of its own, so the workflow doesn't need a change.

tests/integration/compression-pipeline.test.ts

#18818 runs a configured lite as a scoped one-step stacked pipeline. Three tests still expected the old selector result: end-to-end: lite mode…, combo override selects lite… and auto-trigger activates compression. Only the first showed up in the report, because the other two sat behind it. The tests now check the real contract: plan.mode is stacked, plan.reportedMode is lite, and the pipeline is the single lite step. The compression result and stats assertions are unchanged.

Validation

  • tests/integration/compression-pipeline.test.ts: 7/7.
  • All integration files that touch compression mode: 26/26.
  • check:pack-boot itself is not run locally; the next Release-Green run is what exercises the new limit.

Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Chores
    • Increased the allowed runtime for the package validation check from 15 to 40 minutes.
  • Tests
    • Updated compression pipeline checks to verify that lite mode reports as lite while using the stacked compression plan. The automatic mode checks also confirm stacked compression above the activation threshold and no compression below it.

The Release-Green check:pack-boot timeout increases from 15 to 40 minutes. Compression pipeline integration tests now verify that lite plans dispatch as stacked plans while reporting lite.

Merge Risk: Low · up to a18d5

Correct the release note and make the lite tests exercise the selected stacked plan before merging.

Security architecture risk: Low · up to a18d5

The release check can run longer, but its command, permissions, and failure criteria remain unchanged. Residual uncertainty concerns cleanup after forced interruption; that cleanup behavior predates this change.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The changed exposure is additional execution time for the same release-runner command. That command installs the tarball into a temporary prefix and boots against a dedicated temporary data directory; the PR does not introduce a new production caller or tenant-data path. This does not establish that the inherited runner environment is fully isolated.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The deadline remains finite. On timeout or cancellation, the runner attempts process-group termination, escalates from SIGTERM to SIGKILL, and records a nonpassing outcome. Per-run logs and receipts use exclusive creation rather than overwriting another run’s evidence.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • inferred — An inherited containment limitation remains: the smoke-test server starts in a separate process group, so terminating the enclosing gate’s group may bypass the smoke script’s normal server shutdown and workspace cleanup. Both implementations are unchanged from the base. Whether the external runner reaps surviving processes is unknown; this is not established as a new PR vulnerability.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title follows the Conventional Commits form with the allowed type "chore" and scope "release". It matches the main change: the tarball boot-smoke limit is raised in validate-release-green.mjs, and the lite pipeline tests are aligned in compression-pipeline.test.ts.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description follows the template's main sections: Summary, Validation, and Tests Added Or Updated. It explains the cause of the pack-boot timeout, the reason for the 40-minute limit, and the test contract changes. It also gives local test results. It omits the Related Issues section, the Target Branch checklist, the Coverage Notes, and the Reviewer Notes. The Validation checklist items are not ticked. The Tests Added Or Updated section does not list the changed test file by name, though the Summary does name it.

Full details: Tests For Production Code

Explanation

PASS — The PR changes only a release script, a changelog entry, and tests/integration/compression-pipeline.test.ts. No files under src/, open-sse/, electron/, or bin/ changed. The check is therefore inapplicable, and the PR also updates integration tests.

Full details: No Ai Attribution

Explanation

No prohibited attribution appears. All three commits in the reviewed range have only normal subjects and no Co-Authored-By or Generated with footer. The authored PR body also contains neither marker. The AI-generated summary label is review metadata, not part of the PR body.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 0.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 1 functions across 2 files. (1 skipped: 1 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

- **chore(release): raise the Release-Green tarball boot-smoke limit and align the lite pipeline tests**: `check:pack-boot` gets the same 40-minute limit as the package lane, because the translated docs mirrors (#18869) added 8,885 files to the tarball. `tests/integration/compression-pipeline.test.ts` now expects lite as a scoped stacked step (#18818) reporting `lite`.

Minor · Maintainability & Code Quality · Quick win

Correct the package-lane comparison.

The changelog says that check:pack-boot has the same 40-minute limit as the package lane. However, pack-artifact uses a 60-minute timeout in scripts/quality/validate-release-green.mjs Line 1133. State only that check:pack-boot now uses a 40-minute limit, or name the 40-minute lane explicitly.

Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win

Apply the selected plan in both integration tests.

The hardcoded "lite" calls bypass plan.stackedPipeline, including its tool-preservation settings. Both tests can pass even if the selected stacked pipeline fails to compress or truncates tool results. The standalone result also makes the existing stats.mode assertion check a different path from production. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Pass plan.mode and plan.stackedPipeline to compression, and assert the stacked result. As per path instructions: “Flag weakened or removed assertions.”
