⚠️ base-red inherited: #15306

Summary

The translation request carries no reasoning control, so models that reason spend most of the run thinking through a short translation task instead of emitting the translation. The request builder has no field for that control, which keeps the long thinking path on for those requests. The change adds an optional setting that stays off when unset and forwards the trimmed value to the request body only when the operator sets it.

Related Issues

  • No linked issue — reproduced on the release base

Validation

  • Change type: i18n
  • Focused tests and category gates from the golden path
  • npm run lint
  • Reconciled with the current active release base; focused checks rerun afterward
  • Production-code changes include a new or updated automated test in this PR

Tests Added Or Updated

  • tests/unit/i18n-translate-backend.test.ts: covers unset, empty and blank values (field stays absent), the trimmed forwarded value, the exact request body without the field, and the retry path keeping the field.

Coverage Notes

N/A — no touched file lives under src/, open-sse/, electron/ or bin/.
