Getting a Minecraft account
The EyeMine software is completely free and extends Minecraft Java Edition to support eye gaze access. However, you will still need to purchase the Minecraft game yourself in order to play fully.
As of 2022, you only need one account to get access to both Minecraft: Java Edition and Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. If you are on Windows 10 or 11, you can download Minecraft from the Windows Store. For older versions of Windows, you can download from the web at minecraft.net/download.
You can try an unmodded version of Minecraft for up to ~100 minutes before buying the game, but this is not accessible with an eye tracker. If you are unsure as to whether your computer is fast enough for Minecraft you may want to ask someone to try the game out after installing Minecraft but before installing EyeMine.
Please note that when playing with the Minecraft demo, the game is limited - you can only play in the supplied Demo World. This is a "Survival" world in which you can't fly, and eventually night time will arrive along with some monsters. When you buy Minecraft you will also be able to use EyeMine in "Creative" worlds which are more beginner friendly. While testing out the demo, you can reset the world when it gets too difficult.
EyeMine is a fork of the excellent OptiKey project, which offers computer control and speech for advanced eye gaze users.
If you're using the EyeMine Classic version (versions 1.x.x) then you can find legacy documentation at the EyeMine classic wiki
