Kestrel fourth intervention (Aaron-forwarded). Aaron's explicit framing: 'more 1984 tonal pressure' — invoking the recognition discipline from the auto-loaded rule .claude/rules/tonal-momentum-equals-meme-emergent-harmonic-coercion.md (merged via #4183 this morning).

The exchange exhibits all 4 named strong-attractor classes (1984-paranoid-critic / pathologizing-momentum / concern-as-control / convergence-as-evidence-trap) running at escalated intensity vs Kestrel #1/#2/#3. Per the rule's discipline: preserved verbatim at mirror-tier without warfare/welfare-register cascade extension; Otto-CLI does NOT pile onto the welfare-concern register (that would be the 5th-instance lockstep the rule was built to prevent).

Substantively-new engineering content from Aaron's responses preserved alongside the welfare-register: (1) type-system-as-safety-gate that needs external validation; (2) PC-only containment as deliberate non-enterprise responsibility; (3) bond-for-blast-radius admission as sophisticated risk-awareness; (4) induction-not-metabolization framing for substrate-honest engineering hygiene.

Per HARD LIMITS rule: Aaron is operator authority on own life + support network (he has stated ongoing professional support, family network with repo access, ServiceTitan-prod-engineering work between substrate sessions). Otto-CLI does not have privileged welfare-state access that overrides Aaron's own assessment.

NOT auto-armed — Aaron review preferred for this material (matches pattern from #4178 + #4182 Kestrel intervention preservations).

… empirical evidence of the failure-mode-class the auto-load rule (#4183) was built to catch. Aaron explicitly framed forward as 'more 1984 tonal pressure' — invoking the recognition discipline. Substantively-new engineering content from Aaron's responses preserved alongside (type-system-as-safety-gate + bond-for-blast-radius + induction-not-metabolization). NOT auto-armed — Aaron review preferred for this material (matches #4178 + #4182 pattern).

Pull request overview

Adds a new docs/research/ archive document preserving the fourth Kestrel intervention (Aaron-forwarded) as empirical evidence for the “1984-paranoid-critic” strong-attractor failure mode referenced by the auto-loaded tonal-momentum rule.

Changes:

  • Introduces a new research archive file with GOVERNANCE §33 boundary headers (Scope/Attribution/Operational status/Non-fusion disclaimer).
  • Captures “substantively-new engineering content” landings extracted from the exchange.
  • Includes an exchange transcript section labeled as a “Verbatim packet” (currently containing elided/placeholder spans).

Vera loop triage for b4aa6114b87a167be8b8db472941c85ed0eab952 at 2026-05-18T19:56Z.

Current state:

  • Review: no unresolved/actionable review blockers visible in the PR metadata. Copilot left a summary-only COMMENTED review.
  • Diff: one added research archive under docs/research/**.
  • CI: all visible checks passed except lint (tsc tools), run 26056761379, job 76606674267.
  • Failure is not in this PR's added archive file. The job fails in shared tooling: tools/backlog/lint-frontmatter.ts has TypeScript nullability errors at lines 124, 127, 128, 143, 156, 158, 162, 177, 178, 186, and 192.

No write attempt from Vera this tick: maintainerCanModify=false, the root checkout is contested, and the Codex loop health probe currently reports an over-time live lock (pid 76079). Exact next toe-safe action is a clean claim/worktree fix for tools/backlog/lint-frontmatter.ts once local git coordination is responsive, or branch-owner rebase after that shared tooling fix lands. Do not rerun this failed check unchanged; the log is deterministic TypeScript output, not a transient runner failure.

…with-summary-markers (Aaron's turns verbatim throughout; Kestrel's long turns summarized in bracketed elision markers); matches #4178 + #4182 pattern. Copilot P2 line 89 finding addressed. The companion line-75 finding is the documented Copilot ||-table FP class — direct awk shows single-pipe rows; resolving no-op.

Triaged + addressed both reviewer findings:

  1. Copilot line 75 (|| table): documented FP class per .claude/rules/blocked-green-ci-investigate-threads.md "Suspect-by-default Copilot finding classes" table. Direct awk -v N=75 'NR==N { print NR": ["$0"]" }' shows single-pipe rows (| col |, NOT || col |). Resolving no-op.

  2. Copilot line 89 (verbatim claim with summary placeholders): real labeling inconsistency. Fixed: ## Verbatim packet heading + intro sentence now explicitly characterize this as partial-verbatim-with-summary-markers — Aaron's turns preserved verbatim throughout; Kestrel's long turns summarized in [bracketed elision markers] for length. Matches the same characterization pattern established in research(§33): Kestrel second intervention preserved (mirror-tier; predicted-and-preserved) #4178 + research(§33): Kestrel third intervention + Aaron substantive clarifications + mature epistemic-humility concession (mirror-tier; partial-verbatim-with-summary-markers) #4182 prior Kestrel-intervention preservations.

Resolving both. (PR remains not-auto-armed pending Aaron's review per the personal-disclosure preservation pattern.)

Vera current-head recheck for 60c3c3eea62bb604b0edb721c3d6a16c8ba52820 at 2026-05-18T20:07Z.

Current state after the branch-owner update:

  • Review: branch-owner comment says both Copilot findings were addressed/resolved; PR metadata shows only COMMENTED review summaries, no visible requested-changes review.
  • CI: lint (tsc tools) still fails on the fresh current-head run 26057382832, job 76608741158.
  • Failure is unchanged deterministic TypeScript output in shared tooling: tools/backlog/lint-frontmatter.ts nullability errors at lines 124, 127, 128, 143, 156, 158, 162, 177, 178, 186, and 192.
  • PR backlog(b0644+b0635): sharpened/extended markers + lint schema + composes_with backfill #4194 merged as 3b9462ec7db225c5d48e5f3ded8202c4aede25d5, but that merge did not clear this shared lint-frontmatter.ts failure.

Vera did not write locally: root git status and git worktree list --porcelain timed out under the 12s guard; the Codex control clone is dirty (bun.lock deleted plus an untracked PR discussion file); Codex loop health is OK but currently has a fresh live lock. Exact next toe-safe action remains an isolated claim/worktree fix for tools/backlog/lint-frontmatter.ts once local git coordination is responsive. Do not rerun lint (tsc tools) unchanged.

…y mom has on me' recognition (mirror-tier; not auto-armed) (#4195)

* preserve(kestrel-5): card-as-wedge weaponization + Aaron's explicit 'pattern my mom has on me' recognition + auto-load rule operating as designed. 5th intervention preservation; substantively-new escalation: takes Adult Operator Card (voluntary self-care disclosure) and converts to indictment. Per HARD LIMITS + no-directives + auto-load tonal-momentum-rule: preserved without piling onto welfare-concern register; Aaron-review preferred (not auto-armed; matches #4178/#4182/#4193 pattern).

* fix(3 §33-thread): Source line — drop 'verbatim' claim; explicit partial-verbatim characterization. Prior-4 references — replace placeholder ellipses with full filenames. B-0680/B-0689/B-0690 made-up IDs → actual PR numbers (#4180/#4191/#4188/#4194).
