Problem

Opening the project filter menu could shift its horizontal position as the menu content changed. The menu should align with the filter button and stay within the available space.

Change

Anchor the menu to the filter button and enable collision handling so it can flip vertically or shift horizontally when it nears the viewport edge. Pass the collision avoidance option through the shared combobox popup.

Scope and approval

This is a focused fix for the filter menu positioning bug.

Verification

vp run check:changed passed formatting, lint, typecheck, knip, and focused tests. Browser verification confirmed the menu's left edge aligns with the filter button while filtering.

Implemented with GPT 6.1 Sol through the Codex harness.

Approvability

Verdict: Approved at a145af8

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — The project filter menu now aligns with its trigger and shifts or flips to fit available space. The change is limited to presentation and leaves filtering behavior unchanged.

`ComboboxPopup` call site in `Sidebar` and place them on a feature-owned parent

variant or slot instead. Keep `ComboboxPopup`’s shared styling generic and
follow the project’s web UI conventions.
Walkthrough

The combobox popup now supports collision-avoidance settings. The project-scope popup uses those settings, changes its responsive width constraint, and no longer uses the sidebar search field as its anchor.

Changes: Project-scope popup positioning

Layer / File(s) Summary
Expose collision avoidance in ComboboxPopup
apps/web/src/components/ui/combobox.tsx
ComboboxPopup accepts an optional collision-avoidance setting and forwards it to the positioner.
Update project-scope popup positioning
apps/web/src/components/Sidebar.tsx, apps/web/src/components/sidebar/SidebarThreadHeader.tsx
The project-scope popup no longer uses the search field as its anchor. It configures collision avoidance and changes its width constraint. The related search-ref prop and attachment are removed.

The change is functionally mergeable, but the popup styling should be moved to a feature-owned wrapper or supported shared-component variant.

Explanation

The title names the main change: the project filter menu is kept aligned with its trigger. It follows the conventional commit format and is specific. The changeset anchors the menu to the trigger, removes the header search anchor, and adds collision avoidance through the shared combobox popup.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description follows the template. It states the problem with expected behavior, explains the change and the collision avoidance option, and gives a scope statement. Verification lists the commands run and the browser check. It has three gaps. It does not link a triaged issue or maintainer approval, and the scope section does not explain why the focused configuration qualifies under the template's rules for an established capability. The verification section does not include before/after screenshots for this UI change. The author also lists a model name, which the template asks for.

Resolution

Add a link to the triaged bug issue or to the maintainer-approved discussion, with the approval comment. If no issue exists, explain why this focused fix of an obvious bug qualifies without prior approval. Explain what the existing combobox positioning capability already does and what the collision avoidance option controls. Add before/after screenshots of the project filter menu, because this is a UI change. Keep the model and harness line, which the template requests.
