fix(web): clear deleted checkout labels from the sidebar - #25063
After an agent deletes a thread's branch, worktree, and Git registration, the sidebar keeps showing the stored branch and worktree indicator while the thread details card correctly shows “Initialize Git.” Reproduced in the real web app with a newly created worktree thread.
Change
Use the sidebar's live Git status to hide the branch and worktree association once the checkout is confirmed to be gone. Keep the stored association while status is unavailable, and show it again when the checkout returns. Apply the same presentation to current cards, slim and search hover details, and the legacy worktree indicator.
Triaged bug via the automated issue flow. GitCafe: #24935.
Verification
vp test run src/components/Sidebar.logic.test.ts: 59 passed.
vp run check:changed: passed format, lint, knip, affected typechecks, and focused tests.
Independent Codex and Claude code reviews found no blocking findings. Proof audit passed; independent HEAD recapture had zero changed pixels.
Merged main at 725ada6eaa; final head 870852e5b2. The three changed sidebar source files are byte-identical to the reviewed and captured 9573ae6258.
Real-app before/after captures use the same isolated project and thread. Capture proof was used because no existing rendered-sidebar test seam could express the stale label without a substantial new mock harness.
Capture base e3592efe7f → captured implementation 9573ae6258. Only the three changed source files were swapped for baseline; HEAD never moved. Final repository clean.

…s so
After an agent removes a thread's worktree and deletes its branch, the right
panel offers Initialize Git but the sidebar row kept showing the stored branch
and worktree icon. Rows now hide the stored branch and worktree when their
existing leased vcs status reports isRepo:false, and keep them while status is
unknown, loading, or failed.

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This is a small, localized web bug fix that uses existing VCS status data to hide stale checkout labels while preserving stored thread metadata and unknown-status behavior. Its runtime effect is limited to sidebar presentation, with no schema, infrastructure, security, or product-default changes.
You can add or adjust custom eligibility rules. Learn more.
The sidebar now queries local VCS status for eligible worktrees. When status reports that a worktree path is not a repository, sidebar rows and search results omit the thread’s stored branch and worktree details.

Summary
Query status and filter removed checkouts apps/web/src/components/LegacySidebar.tsx, apps/web/src/components/Sidebar.logic.ts
The legacy sidebar queries local VCS status for active rows with a worktree path. The filtering helper clears branch and worktree fields when status reports that the path is not a repository. The worktree indicator receives the filtered thread.
Use filtered checkout details in rows apps/web/src/components/sidebar/SidebarThreadRow.tsx
Thread rows and search results use filtered checkout details for branch-mismatch resolution, scratch-machine visibility, displayed branch and worktree details, and tooltips.
pingdotgg/t3code#24824: Both changes use VCS state to derive sidebar checkout information.
pingdotgg/t3code#24825: Both changes derive checkout display from VCS status, though the candidate also changes status freshness and repository-state assumptions.
pingdotgg/t3code#24843: Both changes modify how sidebar branch and worktree metadata is presented.

Explanation
The title "fix(web): clear deleted checkout labels from the sidebar" matches the main change. The diff hides a thread's branch and worktree association in the sidebar once live Git status reports the checkout is gone (isRepo: false), via the new withoutRemovedCheckout helper applied in SidebarThreadRow, SidebarSearchResultRow, and the legacy worktree indicator. The title is a conventional commit, concise, and specific enough for a teammate scanning history.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description follows the template's main sections: Problem, Change, Scope and approval, and Verification. The Problem section explains the stale branch and worktree indicator after an agent deletes the checkout, with reproduction context. The Change section explains the live-status approach and the affected surfaces. Scope links issue #24935 and an automated triage flow. Verification lists a focused test run, a changed-files check, and extensive before/after UI captures with a per-config table, and it states what was not verified (macOS desktop and native mobile). One gap: the Scope section cites an automated issue flow and a GitCafe mirror rather than an explicit maintainer approval comment, so the template's approval requirement is only partly addressed. The template's Problem section also asks for expected behavior, which the description implies but does not state outright. The description also refers to a 'Models' line at the end, which is a template requirement and is present. Overall the description is mostly complete.

Explanation
[#24935] requires the sidebar to clear a deleted branch and worktree association so that it matches the right status card. The head adds withoutRemovedCheckout in apps/web/src/components/Sidebar.logic.ts. It returns the thread with branch and worktreePath set to null only when gitStatus.isRepo === false. It returns the thread unchanged when status is null. SidebarThreadRow.tsx and SidebarSearchResultRow derive checkoutThread from this helper and use it for the branch mismatch check, the branch and ThreadWorktreeIndicator display, the scratch-machine label, and the hover tooltip. The raw summary reports the same change for the legacy worktree indicator in LegacySidebar.tsx. The PR reports a real-app lifecycle check: an exact worktree recreated, then vcs.refreshStatus, restored the icon and metadata. Removal, then refresh, cleared them. The stored metadata is not changed. Gaps: the PR adds no new unit test for withoutRemovedCheckout. The issue does not require one. Unknown initial status, root branch mismatch, and the scratch fallback are marked unproven in the PR. These are edge cases, not stated issue requirements. The isRepo signal was not compared line by line with the right status card code in this review. The PR evidence supports the match.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
All changed files are sidebar presentation code: Sidebar.logic.ts, sidebar/SidebarThreadRow.tsx, and LegacySidebar.tsx. Each change supports the single objective of hiding a removed checkout's branch and worktree association. The helper is used only in the row and search-row render paths. The diff does not change stored thread metadata, the git status query contract, or unrelated sidebar behavior. The raw summary reports that LegacySidebar.tsx change also limits the status query to live leases with a non-null worktree path and excludes remote status. This is consistent with the objective and does not add unrelated behavior. No unrelated change was found in the inspected hunks.

Refresh the status subscription for the removed worktree path.
The missing-path status returns isRepo: false, so the producer can clear the checkout. However, the sidebar subscribes with thread.worktreePath, while the removal flow refreshes threadProject.workspaceRoot. Status events are filtered by normalized cwd, so a separate worktree path can keep its retained status and remain visible.
Refresh input.path as well as input.cwd after removal.

Problem
After an agent deletes a thread's branch, worktree, and Git registration, the sidebar keeps showing the stored branch and worktree indicator while the thread details card correctly shows “Initialize Git.” Reproduced in the real web app with a newly created worktree thread.
Change
Use the sidebar's live Git status to hide the branch and worktree association once the checkout is confirmed to be gone. Keep the stored association while status is unavailable, and show it again when the checkout returns. Apply the same presentation to current cards, slim and search hover details, and the legacy worktree indicator.
