`bun test --changed`, `bun install --analyze`, `bun add --analyze` and `bun create <component>` bundle files to learn what they import, and print no code. Such a bundle now reads a macro import as an ordinary import: the file of the macro is a module of the graph, and no macro is called. `BundleV2.scan_only` marks the bundle. The parser feature `macro_imports_are_plain` takes its value for each parse task.

Disable macro remapping in scan-only parses.
When macro_imports_are_plain is enabled, the remap lookup still registers remapped bindings in macro_.refs. The visitor then calls MacroContext::call, so scan-only operations can still execute remapped macros. The remapped import is also marked with the macro namespace and disabled instead of becoming an ordinary import.

Beyond the inline findings, I also checked two things and ruled them out: the new macro_imports_are_plain flag being left out of the hash_for_runtime_transpiler bools array is not a cache-key gap, because that hasher only runs for the runtime transpiler cache, which is never set on the bundle parse-task path where the flag is the only place it becomes true; and scan_only is written in generate_from_cli / scan_module_graph_from_cli before any parse task is dispatched, so no worker can observe the default false.
Extended reasoning...
The change adds a scan_only flag on BundleV2 that the parse worker turns into a parser feature making macro imports plain imports on the --changed, --analyze and bun create scan paths; it touches no auth, crypto or injection surface. Three confirmed behavior-change findings are posted inline, so a human decision on the semantics is already required; this note only records the cache-key and dispatch-ordering concerns that were examined and found not to apply.

🔴 Users whose project runs fine now get exit 1 from bun install --analyze, bun add --analyze and bun create <component> when a macro file reaches the link step. With scan_only = fetcher.is_some() at src/bundler/bundle_v2.rs:4464 the macro's file becomes an ordinary module and is linked, so a require() of a module that calls a macro whose file has a top-level await fails with This require call is not allowed because the transitive dependency "macro.ts" contains a top-level await. Fix: for the dependency scan, read import records without running the linker's export and TLA validation on files that only a macro import reaches, or return from generate_from_cli before the link when fetcher is set, while keeping the link for bun create <component> which reads exports.
Why this was flagged
A user runs bun add --analyze ./entry-point.ts where entry-point.ts does require("./calls.ts"), calls.ts imports one from ./macro.ts with { type: "macro" }, and macro.ts has await 0; at top level (test/cli/install/bun-add.test.ts). On the base branch the scan calls the macro at parse time, the macro file never joins the graph, the program runs, and bun add --analyze exits 0 and adds baz. After this change src/bundler/ParseTask.rs:2551 sets macro_imports_are_plain because src/bundler/bundle_v2.rs:4464 sets scan_only for every fetcher bundle, so src/js_parser/p.rs:4124 records the macro file as an ordinary import; generate_from_cli then links the bundle before get_all_dependencies (src/bundler/bundle_v2.rs:4380) reads records, and the linker's TLA validation rejects the require with the transitive dependency "macro.ts" contains a top-level await, exit 1, nothing added. No safeguard skips link validation for scan-only bundles; the only mitigation is that TypeScript importers trim unused imports, which does not cover the require/TLA case.
Verification: src/bundler/bundle_v2.rs:4464 this.scan_only = fetcher.is_some(); -> src/bundler/ParseTask.rs:2551 -> src/js_parser/p.rs:4118-4125 sets is_macro = false. generate_from_cli runs linker.link(...) at bundle_v2.rs:4527 before consulting fetcher at 4532, so the linker's TLA validation (src/bundler/LinkerContext.rs:2235) emits an error and the command exits 1.

🔴 Users of bun test --changed now silently skip a test whose dependency is named only by a macro result, with exit 0, where the base branch ran it. At src/js_parser/p.rs:4118-4124 the scan turns every macro import into a plain import and never runs the macro, so await import(paths()) or require(paths()) in a test yields no import record and a change to the file the macro names selects nothing. Fix: the scan must stay conservative where it loses information, for example select a test file whose import()/require() argument references a macro-imported binding, or keep running macros for --changed behind an opt-out, so a changed file never drops a test that depends on it. The PR lists this as a downside and pins it in test/cli/test/test-changed.test.ts. [also at: src/js_parser/p.rs:4125 - Users of bun test --changed whose test reaches a file only through a macro-computed import() or require() now get no test files are affected, exit 0, when that file changes; on the base that test ran.]
Why this was flagged
A repository has calls.test.ts with import { imported } from "./src/paths" with { type: "macro" } and await import(imported()), where imported() returns "./src/imported.ts". The user edits src/imported.ts and runs bun test --changed. The scan goes through scan_module_graph_from_cli (src/bundler/bundle_v2.rs:4604, scan_only = true) and ParseTask copies that into macro_imports_are_plain (src/bundler/ParseTask.rs:2551). In process_import_statement src/js_parser/p.rs:4118-4124 sets is_macro = false, so the visit pass never calls the macro and the import(imported()) argument stays a call expression, producing no import record for src/imported.ts. ChangedFilesFilter therefore finds no test that reaches the changed file and prints no test files are affected with exit code 0. On the base branch the macro ran during the scan, inlined the string, and calls.test.ts was selected and run.
Verification: The PR description's Downsides bullet and the new pinned test "a file that only the result of a macro names does not select the test" in test/cli/test/test-changed.test.ts assert ranFiles(...) is [], stderr contains "no test files are affected", exitCode 0. After the PR, import(imported()) has a non-literal expression and no record is created, where base ran the test.

🟣 pre-existing, not blocking: Users with a bunfig [macros] table still get macros executed by bun install --analyze / bun add --analyze, and the new docs paragraph saying the scan runs no macro is wrong for them. The macro_imports_are_plain gate at src/js_parser/p.rs:4118 only covers with { type: "macro" } and macro: imports; the bunfig remap branch at src/js_parser/p.rs:4224, 4319 and 4400 still registers macro_.refs and marks the record IS_UNUSED, so the visit pass calls the macro and the macro file never joins the graph. Fix: when macro_imports_are_plain is set, skip the macro_remap lookup (treat the import as ordinary) so every macro-recognition site in process_import_statement honours the flag, which covers the 2 remap sites plus the anchored one.
A small fix can ride a push you are already making; otherwise a short reply is enough.
Why this was flagged
A project has [macros] in bunfig.toml and runs bun install --analyze ./entry.ts where entry.ts does import { graphql } from "react-relay". InstallCommand and AddCommand load bunfig (src/options_types/command_tag.rs:227-228), src/bunfig/bunfig.rs:1082 stores the table in ctx.debug.macros, and BuildCommand::exec copies it into this_transpiler.options.macro_remap at src/runtime/cli/build_command.rs:538-554. The new gate at src/js_parser/p.rs:4118 is not reached for this import because path.is_macro is false and the text has no macro: prefix; the remap branch at p.rs:4319/4400 puts the ref into macro_.refs and the visit pass at src/js_parser/visit/visit_expr.rs:2309 runs the macro, exactly as on the base branch. If that macro imports an uninstalled package the user still gets MacroLoadError and exit 1, and the remapped macro file's own imports are never added. The added docs/bundler/macros.mdx paragraph promises no macro runs.
Verification: Pre-existing for the macro execution itself (the base already runs bunfig-remapped macros in the --analyze scan by the same route); what is new is that the PR's fix skips this sibling site and the added docs sentence is wrong for it. Acknowledged in diff: the PR description's "Not in this PR" list says "The [macros] table of bunfig.toml. Its branch in p.rs is not touched."
