What this PR does / why we need it:

Fixes tests in release-0.5 by backporting following prs:

• for the linting issue: 🐛 upgrade golangci-lint for go 1.18 support #1184 I also had to include changes from ✨ Bump golangci-lint to 1.43.0 #1042 and 🌱 Standardize api import aliases #1082 to get a successful make lint
• for the sshuttle issue: 🐛 Install sshuttle using pip instead of from source #1185
