With the words snack enabled, while in visual mode, it is easy to lose track of what is selected because the whole word is highlighted.

I consider having an option to deny highlighting in some modes is the best approach, simple and configurable by the user:

Another solutions would be expanding the module with a toggle function and call it dynamically in a custom command, but the user should set it up, which is harder.
