As far as I see, there are errors on arm64 when running darwin/arm64:

Error: unsupported cross build platform darwin/arm64

here

I see the env variables to be configured:

PACKAGES="docker"
PLATFORMS="+all linux/arm64 darwin/arm64"

I'm not very familiar with those errors; that's about the build system. However, do we ship darwin/arm64 artifacts on 7.17? I cannot find any references for it at https://www.elastic.co/support/matrix.

Maybe that's the reason

Thanks! You are definitely right that we don't package darwin/arm64 for 7.17, I just confirmed on the DRA artifacts. I'll try to make the changes and see if I can make progress.

I managed to get this working, thanks! I opened #44701 with a more organized commit history.
