What?

Runs the e2e-playwright job in end2end-test.yml on ubuntu-22.04 instead of ubuntu-24.04. Every other job stays on ubuntu-24.04 (set by #221).

Why?

This branch pins @playwright/test at 1.32.0, and its .nvmrc is Node.js 14, so Playwright can't be upgraded without a Node.js upgrade. Playwright 1.32.0 predates Ubuntu 24.04 support (added in 1.45), which breaks the job on ubuntu-24.04 in two ways:

• npx playwright install chromium firefox webkit --with-deps fails before downloading anything, because it tries to install Ubuntu 22.04 package names that 24.04 doesn't have (E: Package 'libasound2' has no installation candidate, E: Unable to locate package libffi7, E: Unable to locate package libx264-163).
• If the browsers are installed without --with-deps, WebKit can't run at all (libsoup2.4-1 and libvpx7 aren't available on 24.04), and Firefox crashes partway through every run with browserContext.newPage: Page closed, failing every Firefox test queued after it.

On ubuntu-22.04, --with-deps installs everything and all three browsers pass. This was confirmed in #560 (run 36460920116): all 628 tests across chromium, firefox and webkit ran, with 626 passed, 2 skipped and none failed.

wp/6.4 solves the same problem differently (#140): its stack moves to Node.js 20, so it upgrades Playwright to 1.49.1 instead.

GitHub will retire the ubuntu-22.04 image at some point after Ubuntu 26.04 runners became generally available (September 2026). When that happens, this job will need either a Playwright upgrade (which needs a Node.js upgrade) or to go back to installing browsers without --with-deps and excluding WebKit and Firefox.
