fix(dashboard): log badges and brand chips on kit tones, AA in all four looks - #19094
Block 1 of #19066: the high-severity contrast problems the kit can't fix for us.
Log and status badges in src/shared/constants/colors.ts move from a parallel hex palette (white on #D97706/#10B981/#06B6D4, 2.4–3.8:1) to kit tones.
Provider brand colour no longer draws text: ProviderPageHeader, the CLI tool cards, the free-provider rankings and the onboarding tiles use a brand tint with body ink (src/shared/utils/brandTint.ts).
The batch wizard's done steps use success-bg with success ink. White on success was 1.79:1 in dark.
Tests
tests/unit/log-badge-palette-contrast.test.ts resolves every badge from the kit token files in Classic and Editions, light and dark, and fails below 4.5:1. It fails on the old hex palette. It also checks body ink on the brand tint for all 380 provider and CLI tool brands.
…ur looks
The log/status badges (provider, protocol, proxy type, level, HTTP and proxy
status) used a parallel hex palette with white text: 2.4-3.8:1 at 9-10 px.
src/shared/constants/colors.ts now maps each one to a kit tone (chart-N ink on
its subtle tint, or a status ink on its -bg), resolved per palette and theme.
Inactive provider filter chips use the ink alone instead of the brand as text.
Brand colours are no longer text or a fill under white text: the provider
header links use the primary ink, the Security tab icons the muted ink, the
free-provider rankings and CLI step avatars an 18% brand tint with body text
(brandTintStyle), the onboarding provider tiles a chart tint + ink, and the
batch wizard's done steps success-bg + success (white on success was 1.79:1
in dark).
tests/unit/log-badge-palette-contrast.test.ts resolves every badge from the
kit token files in Classic/Editions x light/dark and fails below 4.5:1 (it
fails on the old hex palette), and checks body ink on the brand tint for all
380 provider and CLI tool brands.
Refs #19066
Improved badge and label readability across dashboards, logs, provider pages, and onboarding in light and dark themes.
Updated provider and status badges to use consistent theme-based colors, including neutral styling when a color is unavailable.
Adjusted provider filters and brand-tinted icons to keep text legible against their backgrounds.
Badge colors now use UI-kit chart, status, and neutral tokens. Logger fallbacks and provider filters use the updated badge styles. Dashboard brand accents use tinted backgrounds with theme text colors. Tests check contrast across Classic and Editions in light and dark modes.
Changes: Badge and brand contrast
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Shared color contracts and tint helper src/shared/constants/colors.ts, src/shared/utils/brandTint.ts
Badge color types and helpers now resolve chart, status, and neutral tones through kit tokens. brandTintStyle creates a background tint from a supplied brand color.
Logger and conversation badge usage src/shared/components/ProxyLogDetail.tsx, src/shared/components/ProxyLogger.tsx, src/shared/components/RequestLoggerDetail.tsx, src/shared/components/RequestLoggerV2.tsx, src/app/(dashboard)/dashboard/conversations/page.tsx
Badge fallbacks now use neutral or status tones. Provider filters no longer use inactive opacity or tinted backgrounds.
Provider and CLI brand accents use tinted backgrounds with theme text colors. Provider links use theme colors, onboarding icons use chart-subtle and chart-ink tokens, and completed batch steps use success tokens.
Contrast validation and changelog tests/unit/log-badge-palette-contrast.test.ts, tests/unit/static-constants-public-surface.test.ts, changelog.d/fixes/ui-badge-brand-contrast.md
Tests check badge and brand-tint contrast across four theme variants and audit selected source files. The public-surface test expects the success token, and the changelog describes the updates.
cheaper-inference/OmniRoute issue 19066 — The PR addresses the issue’s badge and provider-brand contrast block, including the listed dashboard and logger areas.
Badge contrast improves without an established new merge-blocking risk. A pre-existing icon fallback may still be hard to read.

src/app/(dashboard)/dashboard/providers/[id]/components/ProviderPageHeader.tsx:119 Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
Use theme ink for the header icon’s text fallback.
When a remote icon fails to load, ProviderIcon renders fallbackText in fallbackColor. Line 119 still passes providerInfo.color, so a light brand color can make the fallback text unreadable on the brand tint. Use a theme foreground token for this fallback. This also makes the fallback match the new comment at Line 102. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Update the ProviderIcon usage in ProviderPageHeader so fallbackColor uses the
existing theme foreground token, matching the header icon’s fallback styling,
instead of providerInfo.color.
