Closes #409.

Adds rbx as a second migration source: pnpm dlx bestax-migrate rbx src/.

Why this population is stuck

Unlike react-bulma-components, which peer-depends on Bulma, rbx ships bulma@0.7.5 as a direct dependency plus bulma-badge, bulma-divider, bulma-pageloader and bulma-tooltip. An rbx app cannot choose its own Bulma version at all. Migrating deletes five dependencies and unblocks React 19, which removed the defaultProps rbx's forwardRefAs base is built on.

Shape of the change

The first two commits are pure refactors that land before any rbx code and are verified inert against RBC's existing 277 tests:

Commit What
263e74a Hoist jsx-utils.ts + props.ts to src/sources/_shared/
8cf2f4a Share the structural-handler building blocks
ef95b94 The rbx source itself
1b12845 Transform fixtures
c749a44 Corpus validation against rbx's own docs
6f5dd68 Kitchen-sink e2e
a2bdffe Docs + per-source skill split + coverage
c2147d9 Seven review fixes

src/sources/_shared/ now holds everything library-agnostic — AST helpers, the PropAction interpreter, import aliasing, the structural-handler utilities, and the whole Bulma 0.9→v1 stylesheet transform (parameterised by the source package's own specifiers). What stays per-source is data: mapping.ts, specials.ts, responsive.ts, deps.ts. #410 should be mostly a mapping table.

Three things specific to rbx

  • badge and tooltip are helper props on any element, backed by the bulma-badge/bulma-tooltip extensions. bestax has real components, so <Button tooltip="Hi" /> becomes <Tooltip label="Hi"><Button /></Tooltip> — a wrapping rewrite, not a rename.
  • Three breakpoint shapes, not one: the nested responsive helper prop plus the Column and Column.Group per-breakpoint props. The helper prop is always fully consumed — bestax has its own unrelated responsive prop ('mobile' | 'narrow'), so a partially-emptied leftover would be a type error rather than a leftover.
  • as does not carry over cleanly. rbx's forwardRefAs puts it on every component; bestax declares it on a smaller set, several narrowed to literal unions. UNIVERSAL_PROPS defaults it to a TODO and the components that genuinely accept it opt in.

Validation

Check Result
pnpm all green
bestax-migrate tests 673 (was 277)
Coverage 97%+ stmts / 89%+ branches
rbx docs corpus (validate:corpus:rbx) 43/43 pages, 254 Playgrounds, 0 crashes, 0 unknown components
Kitchen-sink e2e typechecks migrated output against real @allxsmith/bestax-bulma

Each validation layer caught what the one below it could not. The corpus found that prop:as was the largest TODO bucket at 150 — and 98 of those were <Title as="h2">, which bestax supports; fixing that and six siblings cut TODOs 540 → 412. The e2e typecheck then found six mapping errors the corpus could not see, because only tsc knows bestax's real prop names (Card.Header.Title takes centered not isCentered; Field uses grouped/hasAddons values; rbx's Tab is bestax's uncontrolled Tabs.Item, not the index-requiring Tabs.Tab).

rbx is never installed anywhere in this repo. Every fixture and the corpus are read as text at a pinned SHA into gitignored .e2e-tmp/; only migrated output is typechecked.

Notes for review

  • telemetry-worker/src/schema.ts gains 'rbx' in MIGRATE_SOURCE_VALUES. check:conformance --only=telemetry-allowlists fails without it, and that worker deploys on merge, so it has to land together.
  • The skill's references were RBC-specific; they move under references/react-bulma-components/ with an rbx sibling. css-migration.md stays shared — that work is about Bulma, not about which wrapper you came from.
  • The last commit fixes seven defects found in review, each with a regression test. The worst: the shared stylesheet transform gated on the literal string bulma appearing in the file — true for react-bulma-components by name, false for an rbx Sass entry, which meant a silently untouched stylesheet while deps.ts removed the package in the same run.

Follow-ups, not in this PR

  1. bestax-mcp#build caches data/skills/** but repo-root skills/ is not one of its inputs, so turbo replays a stale copy after any skills edit and format:check fails in a loop locally. CI starts clean, so CI is unaffected.
  2. The issue's download figures are stale: measured 2026-08-29, rbx is 1,548/mo and bloomer 1,888/mo (the issue says rbx ~4,223 and "2.3× bloomer"). The dependency-deletion and machinery-reuse arguments still hold, and rbx has 487 dependent repos, but the "largest remaining population" framing no longer does against [Feature] bestax-migrate: add bloomer as a migration source #410.

Resolved during review

  • The namespace-import prune was fixed for rbx only. Ported to react-bulma-components — along with the alias-collision guard, the parseIconClasses modifier fix, the bare-specifier stylesheet fix, and the destructured-alias/dotted-target value-reference fixes. Six defects on this branch turned out to be shared with the RBC source; all are fixed in both.
  • Should the codemod keep the old package while unmappable imports remain? No — confirmed. The package is removed; a warning now names the retained imports.

Note for merging

This PR changes react-bulma-components behaviour in six places (all improvements, all now covered by RBC tests). Release notes should say so — RBC users are affected, not just rbx adopters.

fix(create-bestax) is in the commit stack deliberately: it is what releases the rbx skill to npm create bestax. A squash-merge collapses every commit into one message, so if that message is scoped feat(bestax-migrate) the scaffolder never releases and the skill silently does not reach generated apps.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added migration support from rbx v2 to Bestax Bulma.
    • Added component, prop, responsive, stylesheet, and dependency conversions for rbx projects.
    • Added migration guides and references for both supported source libraries.
    • Added warnings and TODO guidance for unsupported or manual conversions.
  • Bug Fixes

    • Improved import handling, aliasing, shadowing detection, comment-aware source detection, and dependency diagnostics.
  • Tests

    • Added comprehensive rbx fixtures, corpus validation, documentation checks, and end-to-end migration coverage.

jsx-utils.ts and props.ts carry no react-bulma-components data — the
TransformContext bag, the AST helpers and the PropAction interpreter are
generic. Move both to src/sources/_shared/ so a second source can share
them instead of copying.

applyUniversalProps() took its table from RBC's mapping.ts by import;
it now takes it as a parameter, which is the only coupling that had to
change. Everything else moves verbatim.

responsive.ts and styles.ts stay per-source: rbx's breakpoint shape and
stylesheet story both differ from RBC's.
alignTarget, mergeClassName and parseIconClasses are source-agnostic, and
stripModifierProps only needs its source's own modifier tables — so it
becomes a factory rather than a copy. Moves them to
_shared/specials-utils.ts alongside the SpecialResult/SpecialHandler
types, cutting react-bulma-components/specials.ts from 935 to 808 lines
with no behaviour change.
`pnpm dlx bestax-migrate rbx src/` migrates an rbx v2 app onto
@allxsmith/bestax-bulma.

The mapping table and RBX_EXPORTS are derived from rbx's own barrels and
the Object.assign tails that build its dot-notation compounds, at the SHA
the corpus script pins. mapping-coverage closes that surface in both
directions.

Three things are specific to rbx:

- badge and tooltip are helper *props on any element* in rbx, backed by
the bulma-badge/bulma-tooltip extensions. bestax has real components,
so those become wrapping rewrites in transform.ts rather than renames.
- deps.ts deletes five dependencies, not one: rbx pinned bulma@0.7.5 as a
direct dependency plus four Bulma extensions, which is why an rbx app
cannot reach Bulma v1 while rbx is installed.
- responsive.ts handles three breakpoint shapes — the nested `responsive`
helper prop and the Column / Column.Group per-breakpoint props. The
helper prop must be fully consumed: bestax has an unrelated `responsive`
prop, so a leftover would be a type error rather than a leftover.

`as` is NOT a clean carry-over. rbx's forwardRefAs puts it on every
component; bestax declares it on ~16, several narrowed to a literal
union. So UNIVERSAL_PROPS defaults it to a TODO and the components that
really accept it opt in.

Also adds 'rbx' to the worker's MIGRATE_SOURCE_VALUES — telemetry-allowlists
fails without it, and events would be dropped at ingest.
Seven fixture pairs covering imports, helper props, the three breakpoint
shapes, badge/tooltip wrapping, dot-notation compounds, forms, and the
unmappable set.

Writing them found three real bugs, all fixed here:

- badge and tooltip on the same element lost the tooltip: the second
wrapper read its props off the first wrapper instead of the element.
- Select.Container and Image.Container both renamed to the same bestax
component as their child, producing nested <Select><Select>. They now
fold their props onto the child and collapse, the way RBC's
  Table.Container already did.
- a partially-converted `responsive` object was left on the element. That
is not a harmless leftover — bestax has its own unrelated `responsive`
prop, so it is a guaranteed type error on every migrated component. The
prop is now always consumed and the TODO names what could not carry.

Also drops the needless stringification of Column size/offset (bestax's
BulmaColumnSize accepts numbers) and emits bare string literals instead of
expression containers for per-viewport values.
`pnpm --filter bestax-migrate validate:corpus:rbx` fetches rbx at the
pinned SHA (text only, into gitignored .e2e-tmp/) and runs the transform
over the 254 `<Playground>` blocks in its 43 docz pages — the same role
the react-bulma-components Storybook corpus already plays, and the only
substantial rbx JSX that exists under a licence we can use. Not in CI: no
third-party fetches in the pipeline.

Result: 43/43 pages, 0 crashes, 0 unknown components — the vendored
RBX_EXPORTS surface is complete.

The scorecard also caught a real gap. `prop:as` was the single largest
TODO bucket at 150, and 98 of those were `<Title as="h2">` — bestax's
Title does take `as`, the mapping just never said so. Adding AS_OK to the
seven components that genuinely accept it (Title, Level.Item, Media,
Media.Item, Footer, Image, Control, Menu.Item) cuts that bucket to 22 and
the total from 540 to 412.

What remains is honest: Icon (140) needs a required `name` that cannot be
read out of an rbx `<FontAwesomeIcon>` child, Tile (78) was removed in
Bulma v1, and the File parts (74) have no counterpart because bestax's
File renders that structure itself.
Migrates a source-only rbx app and typechecks the OUTPUT against the real
@allxsmith/bestax-bulma types. rbx is never installed: the input is never
typechecked, and leftovers.tsx — every pattern the codemod refuses to
convert — is excluded from the typecheck and asserted via its TODO rules.

The typecheck immediately found six mapping errors that neither the
fixtures nor the docs corpus could catch, because only tsc knows bestax's
real prop names:

- Card.Header.Title takes `centered`, not `isCentered`
- Control takes `isExpanded` / `isLoading`, not the bare rbx names
- Field models grouping as `grouped` / `hasAddons` values, so rbx's
`multiline` is `grouped="multiline"` — and it has to replace `kind`
rather than sit beside it, or `grouped` would be set twice
- Modal has no `closeOnEsc` (it always closes on Escape)
- rbx's `Tab` is bestax's uncontrolled `Tabs.Item`, not `Tabs.Tab`:
Tabs.Tab is the controlled API and requires an `index` that cannot be
  derived from rbx's markup

The e2e also asserts the headline result by name — rbx plus all four
Bulma extensions gone from package.json — and that badge/tooltip helper
props became wrapping components.
… source

Adds the rbx migration guide, links it from the migration hub and from the
react-bulma-components guide's "coming from a different library?" section,
and updates the skill docs page.

The skill's references were entirely react-bulma-components-specific, so
they move under references/react-bulma-components/ and rbx gets a sibling
directory. SKILL.md is now source-parameterised — it picks the source from
the app's imports and points at the matching reference set.
css-migration.md stays shared: that work is about Bulma, not about which
wrapper you came from. The rbx component map is generated from the
mapping table itself so it cannot drift.

Also raises rbx coverage from 74%/56% to 97%/85% — the fixtures exercise
the happy paths, so these add the refusal paths: dynamic prop values, the
container-collapse fall-backs, every value-chosen target, all three
breakpoint shapes' error branches, and the deps guard that only removes
the four Bulma extensions alongside rbx itself.
All seven were reachable from ordinary rbx input, and each is covered by a
regression test in __tests__/review-fixes.test.ts.

The build-breaking one: the shared stylesheet transform gated everything on
the literal string "bulma" appearing in the file. That held for
react-bulma-components (its own name contains it) but not for rbx — whose
documented Sass entry is `@import '~rbx/rbx'`, with rbx pulling Bulma in
itself. Such a file was left untouched with no TODO and no report entry
while deps.ts deleted rbx from package.json in the same run. The
pre-filter now also accepts a file that names only the source package.

The rest:

- the source-package import regex required a `/` after the package name, so
the bare `@import '~rbx'` spelling never matched — dead intent, since the
sibling root-stylesheet regex already accepted it
- Column breakpoint objects were left on the element when a key could not
be flattened. ColumnProps spreads unknown props onto the <div>, so each
leftover was both a TS excess-property error and a React warning; the
sibling helper pass already documented that hazard and dropped the prop
- `import * as rbx` was always pruned, but resolveJsxPath supports
namespace imports and an unmapped `<rbx.Tile>` survives the run — the
import now stays alive whenever anything is retained
- the dropped-extension-stylesheet TODO was attached to the import being
pruned, so it never printed. It cannot ride on a sibling import either
(the rewrite replaces those), so it is flushed after the import block
  settles
- badge/tooltip helper props rode onto plain-element rewrites as unknown
DOM attributes: the wrapping pass runs after the rename step, which a
  `replaced: true` special skips
- RESPONSIVE_BREAKPOINTS maps touch to null, which is right for the helper
props but wrong for Column, where `isNarrowTouch` exists. The column pass
now resolves touch itself and TODOs only the keys that really have no
  counterpart

BADGE_PROPS/TOOLTIP_PROPS move to mapping.ts so specials.ts can read them
without a cycle back through transform.ts.

Merge Risk: 🟠 High · up to ea287

The migration can currently generate projects that fail to install, typecheck, or compile because retained Bulma imports may lose their dependency and some aliases or imports can be removed while still referenced; dependency updates may also be skipped or applied to unrelated manifests. Merge should wait until these concrete migration-output and dependency-handling issues are fixed.

bestax-migrate/src/sources/rbx/responsive.ts:128

  • A non-literal responsive value returns before removing the rbx prop. The migrated bestax component therefore receives the unrelated object-valued responsive prop, producing the exact type/DOM failure this function says it prevents. Consume the attribute before returning, and extend the existing non-object test to assert it is absent.
    bestax-migrate/src/sources/rbx/transform.ts:496
  • Skipping namespace bindings here strands value references. With import * as rbx from 'rbx'; const X = rbx.Box, no JSX pass marks anything retained, so the import rewrite removes the namespace while rbx.Box remains. Handle namespace member-expression values or retain the namespace import when such references remain.
    bestax-migrate/src/sources/rbx/mapping.ts:513
  • rbx exposes as universally and bestax Dropdown.Item explicitly accepts it, but this prop map does not claim it. Valid <Dropdown.Item as="button"> migrations therefore receive a false prop:as TODO. Move the misplaced root-level opt-in here.
    bestax-migrate/src/sources/rbx/mapping.ts:660
  • The bestax Navbar root is not polymorphic, so AS_OK allows an rbx as value to survive without a TODO and produce a type error. Only Navbar.Item and Navbar.Link expose as; remove this root opt-in.
    bestax-migrate/src/sources/rbx/transform.ts:280
  • When destructuring cannot be fully removed, the declaration still evaluates Card, but this branch does not retain the corresponding rbx import. For const { Content, ...rest } = Card, the later import rewrite prunes Card, leaving the TODO next to code that now throws. Mark the source root as retained before continuing.
    bestax-migrate/src/sources/rbx/transform.ts:496
  • This value-reference pass consults only direct imports, not aliases created by the destructuring pass. After const { Content } = Card is pruned, a non-JSX use such as const X = Content is left unresolved while the rbx import disappears. Resolve aliases here as well and map/retain the full canonical path.

Deep review — 1 blocking · 1 advisory

# Severity Area Finding Location
1 🟡 Minor Correctness breadcrumb-item builds its <a> by hand and never runs stripHelperComponentProps, so rbx badge*/tooltip* helper props ride onto the intrinsic <a> (TS2322 + React unknown-attr, no TODO) — the exact class the last commit fixed for replaceWithPlain. bestax-migrate/src/sources/rbx/specials.ts:476
2 🔵 Advisory Correctness field special maps truthy multiline to grouped="multiline" and drops kind, so <Field kind="addons" multiline> silently loses hasAddons. rbx's own semantics for that combo are ill-defined and the handler documents the kind="group" assumption, so it's on the record, not a blocker. bestax-migrate/src/sources/rbx/specials.ts:339

Overall: The change is sound and unusually well-defended. The _shared/ hoist is a mechanical, test-covered refactor (RBC's existing tests pass unchanged), and the rbx source is validated by three independent layers (538 unit tests, a 43-page / 254-Playground corpus, and a real tsc e2e). I confirmed all 538 tests pass under turbo; the only local failures were the two e2e suites run without the ordered @allxsmith/bestax-bulma build, which is environmental, not a defect. The riskiest surface is the per-element pass ordering in transform.ts (special → rename → responsive → props → badge/tooltip wrap), where a replaced: true special short-circuits the wrapping pass — which is exactly where the one residual leak lives. Focus review on finding #1.

Residual risk: for the "helper prop leaks onto a plain element" class the final commit addressed —

  • Manual plain-element builders: swept every SpecialHandler. All plain rewrites route through replaceWithPlain (which layers stripHelperComponentProps) except breadcrumb-item (finding #1). No others.
  • Rename-not-replace specials (level-item, media-item, navbar-segment, pagination-step): refuted — they return a target and are not replaced, so the element renames to a real bestax component and the badge/tooltip wrapping pass still runs and consumes those props.
  • Leftover breakpoint objects (the sibling fixed class): refuted — both flattenResponsiveHelper and flattenColumnBreakpoints unconditionally removeAttr the source prop and TODO any unconverted cell; the touch / only / dynamic branches all drop the attribute.

🏄 Gnarly clean refactor, dude — hoisted the whole engine into _shared/, dropped five deps for rbx apps, and stacked three validation layers deep. Just one little tooltip prop still snuck past the breadcrumb break onto a bare <a> — patch that wave and it's all glass. Good to paddle out.

Eleven findings from Copilot and the Claude deep review, each verified
against the real bestax API or by running the transform before fixing, and
each covered by a regression test.

The `as` opt-ins were the worst of it. I added them from a survey that
conflated roots with sub-components: `DropdownProps` and `NavbarProps`
declare no `as` at all — only `Dropdown.Item` and `Navbar.Item`/`Navbar.Link`
do — and `Media.Item` resolves to Left/Content/Right by its `align` value,
where only `MediaLeftProps` has one. So the codemod was carrying `as` onto
three components that cannot take it, which is the silent-rewrite failure
the TODO exists to prevent. `Media.Item` now decides per resolved target.

Also fixed:

- the MCP index generator listed only files directly under `references/`,
so moving the skill's references into per-source subdirectories dropped
all six from the MCP surface — while `gen:mcp:check` stayed green,
because the output it compared was consistently wrong. Listing is now
recursive, keyed by path so two subjects can each have a `component-map`
- a dynamic `only` was read as `false`, silently turning
`{ value: 'flex', only: cond }` into an unconditional `displayTablet`
- a default import was flagged but its specifier dropped, turning a broken
import into `RBX is not defined` wherever it was still referenced
- `navbar-item` returned early on a truthy `dropdown`, so
`<Navbar.Item dropdown up>` kept `up` with neither removal nor a TODO
- `Label` read `disabled` by presence, so `disabled={false}` became a
permanent `is-disabled` and a dynamic value was forced true
- `breadcrumb-item` builds its `<a>` by hand and was the one plain-element
rewrite not layering `stripHelperComponentProps`, so badge/tooltip props
  rode onto the intrinsic element
- `field` consumed `kind` unconditionally, but rbx applies multiline only
  when kind is "group" (`k === "is-grouped" && multiline === true`), so
  `<Field kind="addons" multiline>` was losing `hasAddons`
- the generated rbx component-map table shipped without its header row, and
the prop-map's `as` list named components that do not accept it

Corpus TODOs rise 412 → 418: the `as` corrections now report what was
previously being emitted as invalid output.

Thanks both — all eleven findings were real. Each was reproduced by running the transform (or checked against the bestax source) before being fixed, and each has a regression test in src/sources/rbx/__tests__/review-fixes.test.ts. Fixed in 7faf2d8.

The as cluster was the worst of it

Copilot was right on all three, and the root cause is that I added those opt-ins from a survey that conflated roots with sub-components:

reality
DropdownProps no as — only DropdownItemProps ('a' | 'div' | 'button')
NavbarProps no as — only NavbarItemProps and NavbarLinkProps
Media.Item resolves to Media.Left / .Content / .Right by align; only MediaLeftProps declares as

So the codemod was carrying as onto three components that cannot take it — precisely the silent-rewrite the TODO exists to prevent. media-item now decides per resolved target: align="left" keeps as, the other two drop it with a prop:as TODO.

The one with the widest blast radius

The MCP finding, because it was invisible: moving the skill's references into per-source subdirectories dropped all six from the MCP index, since the generator listed only files directly under references/. gen:mcp:check stayed green the whole time — the output it compared was consistently wrong. get_skill could not resolve any component/prop/unmappable reference for either source.

Fixed by making the listing recursive, keyed by path (rbx-component-map, react-bulma-components-component-map) so two subjects can each have a component-map and the ids stay slash-free for bestax://skills/{name}/references/{ref}. Guarded by two new tests in scripts/gen-mcp-index.test.mjs.

One correction to the deep review

Finding #2 called rbx's kind="addons" + multiline semantics "ill-defined". They're actually well-defined — rbx's field.tsx reads:

[`${k}-multiline`]: k === "is-grouped" && multiline === true

multiline is ignored unless kind="group". So this was a real bug rather than an advisory: the handler consumed kind unconditionally and <Field kind="addons" multiline> lost hasAddons and gained a modifier rbx would never render. Now it matches rbx's runtime exactly.

The rest

  • dynamic only was read as false, silently turning { value: 'flex', only: cond } into an unconditional displayTablet
  • a default import was flagged but its specifier dropped — turning a broken import into RBX is not defined where it was still referenced
  • navbar-item returned early on truthy dropdown, leaving up neither removed nor flagged
  • Label read disabled by presence, so disabled={false} baked in a permanent is-disabled
  • breadcrumb-item was the one plain-element rewrite building its <a> by hand and not layering stripHelperComponentProps (good catch — the deep review's sweep confirming it was the only one is what made this quick)
  • the generated component-map table shipped without its header row, and the prop-map's as list has been rewritten against the real API

Corpus TODOs rise 412 → 418, which is the correct direction: the as corrections now report what was previously being emitted as invalid output. pnpm all green, 551 tests.

gen:mcp ran before prettier reformatted the two reference files it had
just indexed, so skills.json carried their pre-format byte counts and
CI's `MCP index up to date` failed.

Worth noting the gap that let it through: `pnpm all` — the documented
pre-PR gate — does not run gen:mcp:check or gen:catalog:check, so a stale
generated index passes locally and only fails in CI.

  • This unconditional deletion conflicts with the transform's intentional retained imports for todo mappings such as Generic, Tile, and List. After the documented install step, those generated import … from 'rbx' statements no longer resolve, so the partially migrated app cannot run as promised. Only remove rbx after the project has no retained rbx imports, or pass retained-source state into dependency migration.

96-116: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick win

Remove the RBC-specific comments and naming from the shared factory.

The module header at Lines 6-7 states that nothing here may know which source library is being migrated. Three leftovers contradict that:

  • Lines 96-116 contain two doc comments that no longer document any declaration. The constants they described (react-bulma-components import matcher and its root subset) are now built inside the factory at Lines 252-261.
  • Line 302 names the generic index rbcRootIndex, and the comments at Lines 298-299, 486-488, and 499-502 call the source package "RBC".

Rename rbcRootIndex to sourceRootIndex and reword the comments to use packageName terms. This is comment and identifier hygiene only; behavior does not change.

As per coding guidelines, the module also carries its own rule in the header: "Nothing here may know which source library is being migrated."

Preserve each spacing prop name in this mapping.

The source cell groups m, mt, and py, but the target shows only m="3". A literal reading converts py={3} to m="3" and changes padding to margin. Document this as m={3} → m="3" and state that each spacing prop keeps its name while its numeric value becomes a string.

Search all migrated paths for TODOs.

Add a TODO for the prefix-incompatible active class. Breadcrumb.Item is intentionally mapped to raw <li><a> markup, but breadcrumb-item emits the literal is-active class. This bypasses usePrefixedClassNames, so active items do not match prefixed CSS.

Two small cleanups in the mapping table.

Either safely remove extensions after checking for surviving stylesheet references, or revise the user-facing PR/issue claims and validation expectations so the advertised dependency cleanup matches the codemod.

bestax-migrate/src/sources/rbx/transform.ts:363

  • Aliases are recorded before knowing whether this destructuring can be removed. For const { Item, Context } = Dropdown, the TODO-only Context makes allResolved false, but pass 2b still resolves the retained Item binding as an alias and rewrites the object pattern to an invalid target such as { Item: Dropdown.Item, Context }. Only expose these aliases after the declaration is pruned, or explicitly skip identifiers that remain inside binding patterns.

464-500: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | 🏗️ Heavy lift

Extract the duplicated alias resolver and value-chain reservation scan into _shared.

The two source transforms now carry byte-identical copies of aliasAt and of the new member-chain reservation scan. Both copies read only imports, aliasesByOwner, bound, and resolveMapping, so each can take those as parameters. This PR already established src/sources/_shared/ for shared transform logic, and earlier review rounds in this PR repeatedly found a fix applied to one source and not the other. Duplicating these two blocks preserves that failure mode.

  • bestax-migrate/src/sources/rbx/transform.ts#L464-L500: move the value-chain reservation scan into a shared helper, for example reserveValueChainRoots(j, root, imports, resolveMapping, bound), and call it here.
  • bestax-migrate/src/sources/react-bulma-components/transform.ts#L394-L430: replace the identical scan with a call to the same shared helper.
  • bestax-migrate/src/sources/rbx/transform.ts#L285-L325: move ownersFor and aliasAt into a shared factory, for example makeAliasResolver(aliasesByOwner), and call it here.
  • bestax-migrate/src/sources/react-bulma-components/transform.ts#L214-L254: replace the identical ownersFor and aliasAt bodies with the same shared factory.

Each source keeps its own MAPPING and resolveMapping, so pass the resolver in rather than importing it into _shared.

🔵 Needs a closer look

Ref forwarding is silently lost, and default rbx navbar dropdowns become non-interactive.

bestax-migrate/src/sources/rbx/mapping.ts:65

  • rbx components built with forwardRefAs forward ordinary React refs, but ref is absent from the universal conversion policy, so usages such as <Button ref={buttonRef}> migrate silently. Bestax's Button is a plain React.FC rather than a ref-forwarding component, so this loses the old ref contract (and is rejected under React 18). Please treat ref like as: emit a TODO by default and pass it through only for targets whose Bestax implementation has been verified to support it.
    bestax-migrate/src/sources/rbx/specials.ts:829
  • A truthy dropdown is consumed and converted without warning, but rbx's navbar item owns click/outside-click state while Bestax's Navbar.Dropdown only reflects hoverable or controlled active. Consequently, the common <Navbar.Item dropdown> migration renders a menu that no longer opens on click. Emit a TODO here so the user must choose hover behavior or add controlled state instead of silently accepting the behavioral regression.
