build(deps): port AISim 0.14.0 source integration to main - #18114
Withdrawn: The agreed scope is API/DGD behavior and its regression coverage in #17583. The AISim package, dependency-pin and container-build migration is outside this work. The branch and validation evidence are retained for a separately owned integration.
Overview
Main still consumes AISimulate Nightly 87 while #18014 updates release/1.7.0 to AISim 0.14.0. Port that integration to main so the shared generator fixes land on main first: ai-dynamo/aisimulate#609 preserves runtime-selected block sizes and ai-dynamo/aisimulate#702 preserves evaluated token budgets.
Key Changes
Approximately 80 added lines of build/dependency logic, excluding tests, docs, comments and generated lockfiles.
Build the Python aisim wheel and Rust aisim-core from the same full source revision, 74dcdfcde184070d39e813ba24424b32e9627f00, in all three Cargo roots and all seven container targets. Preserve the aisimulate / aisimulate_core imports and Rust dependency alias.
Carry build(deps): pin AISim 0.14.0 RC0 sources for release/1.7.0 #18014's integration adaptations: host_caches telemetry, a 64-aligned Pareto fixture, bounded optimizer smoke grids, request-based backpressure assertions, complete build templates in test images, and planner test isolation. The connector test's outer deadline covers its existing 30-second subprocess and etcd setup/teardown.
Update source-build instructions and the 17 generated --ais-backend-version expectations from 0.24.0 to 0.30.0, matching the new H100/vLLM catalog. Newly profiled deployments can roll to those new arguments; saved DGDs with explicit prior arguments retain them.
Packaging compatibility: Container builds explicitly install the source-built wheel. Published Dynamo Python metadata declares aisim==0.14.0, which does not encode the source SHA. Plain pip installation requires that version on an index, or building/installing the matching wheel first as documented in container/deps/README.md. Public PyPI and crates.io still contained only the renamed-package placeholders when checked on November 4 at 20:05 UTC.
Validation
Behavior
Result on this main port
Exact AISim source build
Built and installed the real optimized 0.14.0 wheel on Linux arm64.
Generator limits and candidate bridge
316 upstream regression tests passed, including preserved/aligned limits and unchanged caller input. GitHub compare confirms #702 is an ancestor of the exact pin.
Dependency identity and hardware catalog
15 existing consistency, namespace and hardware-catalog tests passed against the installed wheel; all three Cargo roots pass locked/offline metadata checks.
Container build selection
All 14 amd64/arm64 CUDA Dockerfile renders include the source build and local-wheel installation.
Operator expectations
Installed SDK reports H100/vLLM 0.30.0; Go golden-comparison tests passed. Full cluster profiling remains for CI.
Rebuilt Dynamo runtime and replay
Rebuilt Dynamo against AISim 0.14.0: 53 telemetry/real DGD CLI/renderer tests, all 44 optimizer tests, and 12 connector/FPM tests passed. The four native optimizer smokes completed in 17–21 seconds under their existing 30-second limits.
All 316 native Mocker library tests passed, including the output-backpressure regression. Scoped Rust Clippy (all targets, warnings denied), Rust formatting, and pre-commit hooks passed. All four commits are signed, DCO signed off, and GitHub Verified. The source-pin port retains every unrelated locked package version and checksum. A follow-up test-only fix compares the parsed package-index hostname to address CodeQL's URL-substring finding.
Fresh PR/Pre Merge CI is running on c7417c2416054f4df0229195a5d79aad601beadb, including full image builds, clean-room shipped-wheel tests and GPU/cluster coverage. #18014's green release-branch CI is separate evidence and does not validate this main head.
This is the main counterpart of #18014. Cherry-picked Harrison King Saturley-Hall's commits 3ceef8755c78 and e686db9911d0 with original authorship and -x provenance. The release-base README change from #18079 stays on the release branch. Release approval and merging remain with the release team.
#17583 remains the separate DGD block-size regression PR without dependency-pin changes. Its Pareto alignment overlaps identically with this integration. #17878 concerns AgentX G2 replay routing and is a separate feature.

The dependency set moves to AISim 0.14.0, resolved from a pinned source revision. Container builds now build and install its wheel. Dependency checks, test inputs, and AIS backend deployment fixtures are also updated.
Python and Rust dependencies now use AISim 0.14.0, with Rust resolving aisim-core from the pinned Git revision. The dependency documentation reflects the package and source pins.
Build the AISim wheel from source .dockerignore, container/Dockerfile.test, container/deps/build_aisimulate.py, container/templates/wheel_builder.Dockerfile
The build helper validates the configured source and package metadata, fetches the pinned revision, and runs a locked maturin build. The wheel-builder image invokes the helper and stages the wheel.
Container install commands select the aisim wheel pattern across the listed images.
Check package names and wheel installation deploy/operator/hack/test_aisimulate_hardware_catalog.py, tests/dependencies/test_aisimulate_consistency.py, tests/dependencies/test_aisimulate_namespaces.py, tests/wheels/smoke_install.py
Dependency checks validate the source pin and package metadata, reject retired distribution names, and require a local aisim wheel for smoke installation. The hardware catalog test reads the aisim distribution version.
Generated decode and prefill deployment fixtures change the AIS backend version from 0.24.0 to 0.30.0.
Adjust test inputs and expectations components/src/dynamo/aisimulate/tests/dgd/e2e/configs/pareto.yaml, components/src/dynamo/planner/tests/integration/test_fpm_event_delivery.py, components/src/dynamo/planner/tests/integration/test_virtual_connector.py, components/src/dynamo/profiler/tests/test_replay_optimize.py, lib/bindings/python/tests/replay/test_replay_telemetry.py, lib/mocker/src/live/tests.rs
Tests update scheduler and optimizer inputs, subprocess environment and timeout settings, telemetry schema expectations, and live mocker counters and output assertions.
Ordinary Python installations cannot resolve AISim 0.14.0. Publish the matching wheel or defer the dependency change before release.

Explanation
The title "build(deps): port AISim 0.14.0 source integration to main" matches the main change. The PR ports the AISim 0.14.0 source pin from release/1.7.0 to main across the Cargo roots, container build templates, and dependency tests. The title is specific and uses a conventional commit style. It does not mention the test adaptations or the 0.30.0 expectation updates, which is acceptable because the title need not cover every detail.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description follows the repository template. It includes Overview, Key Changes, Validation, and Issues and Ongoing Work sections, and it contains the Pull Request Checklist block with the /pr-checklist box checked. The Overview states the goal: port the AISim 0.14.0 integration from release/1.7.0 to main, pinned to source revision 74dcdfcde184070d39e813ba24424b32e9627f00. Key Changes lists the build and dependency changes, the carried adaptations, and the 0.24.0 to 0.30.0 expectation updates. The Validation section is detailed and reports concrete results. It also states what remains for CI. The Issues section references #17581, #18074, and OPS-9094, and it gives the cherry-pick provenance. The template's 'Closes #XXXX' line is absent. The template marks it as advisory, and the PR links related issues by 'Refs' instead, so this is a minor gap and not a critical one.
