feat(agentx): allow multi-replica and shared G2 for AgentX replay [AISIM-1893, AISIM-1894] - #688
Resolves AISIM-1893 and AISIM-1894 (AISimulate side). AISIM-1894's shared-G2 qualification was folded in from #689, since it only adds docs and tests for the behavior enabled here.
AgentX G2 was limited to one aggregated worker or 1P1D by _require_agentic_g2_scope (Python sweeper) and the native JSON entrypoint (crates/core/src/python.rs). Both gates now accept any number of workers per role. The rest of the boundary is unchanged: offline vLLM, attention DP1 on every role, static pools, no speculation, no G3. Zero or non-integer worker counts are still rejected.
No new residency path is added. Multi-worker G2 and HostPinned event publication already exist. Snapshot and profile plays already use play-local token namespaces with a distinct cache_id, so G2 hits cannot cross a recycled play.
Shared-G2 contract (AISIM-1894)
docs/replay/engine/kv-cache.md now documents the cluster_shared G2 contract under AgentX:
Ownership and discovery: the deployment owns one pool, and capacity is counted once.
Visibility: a block is published as HostPinned to every subscribed rank when its D2H completes, and pool-wide LRU removals are published the same way.
Identity: conversations in a play share G2 prefixes; recycled snapshot/profile plays never share them.
Contention: concurrent restores split pool bandwidth max-min fairly and deterministically.
Stale entries: if residency is evicted before admission, the request falls back to recompute.
The Dynamo Router side (event-driven placement, event-stream validation, multi-replica tests) is in ai-dynamo/dynamo#17878. Dynamo's Python replay API goes through this sweeper gate, so Dynamo needs a nightly that contains this change.
Validation
tests/test_agentx_g2.py (38) and the agentic/G2 subset of tests/test_runner.py pass (316 total). New tests: multi-replica aggregated and 2P2D runs through the public API, multi-replica P/D native JSON for every scope combination, and a 2P2D run on one shared pool that reports a single 8-block domain and whose dp_rank_local variant reproduces the private-G2 report exactly, even with shared-only bandwidth fields left set.
cargo test -p aisimulate-core --features python public_agentic_json passes.
ruff check / ruff format --check / cargo fmt --check are clean.
In the full -m unit run, the only failures come from the local environment (missing requests and collector modules in FPM/e2e-accuracy tests). None is in a touched area.
Validation boundaries: Confirm the Python sweeper and native JSON entrypoint accept multiple workers per role and reject zero or non-integer counts.
G2 residency and play isolation: Confirm HostPinned events and play-local token namespaces prevent G2 hits from crossing recycled plays.
Downstream integration: Dynamo Router event-driven placement and event-stream validation are out of scope. Check replay against a nightly that includes this change.
Behavior and public contracts
AgentX G2 now supports multiple workers per supported role, replacing the single-worker aggregated and 1P1D limits. The existing constraints remain: offline vLLM, attention DP1 on every role, static pools, no speculation, and no G3. Documentation and CLI help describe the expanded support. No exported declarations change.
Evidence and remaining gaps
The supplied source results show tests for multi-replica G2 behavior, invalid worker counts, and validation across Python and native JSON boundaries. The reported test results are not execution output from this inspection.
The PR description reports passing results for tests/test_agentx_g2.py (38 tests), the agentic/G2 subset of tests/test_runner.py (316 tests total), and cargo test -p aisimulate-core --features python public_agentic_json. It also reports clean Ruff and Cargo formatting checks. These results were not independently verified.
The author attributes failures in the full -m unit run to missing local requests and collector modules in FPM/e2e-accuracy tests, and reports no failures in touched areas. Qualification remains functional_only.
No current review findings were supplied. Review severity counts are unavailable. The supplied evidence does not establish downstream Dynamo Router validation or qualification beyond functional_only.
Technical quality and merge readiness
The reported tests cover multi-replica aggregated and 2P2D runs through public APIs, and native JSON validation cases across scope combinations. Merge readiness still depends on confirming the validation and residency boundaries above and checking downstream replay against a nightly containing the change. Bot-generated summaries are not approval evidence.
Agentic G2 host offload now accepts static aggregated or prefill/decode worker pools with any positive worker count. The existing DP1, vLLM, and speculative-decoding constraints remain. Tests cover multi-worker compatibility and execution, and documentation describes the expanded scope and KV-cache behavior.
Host-offload validation no longer requires exactly one worker per role. The sweeper requires each worker count to be an exact integer of at least one. Capability tests cover multiple workers and retain rejection cases for zero and boolean counts.
The public-agentic test runs with two prefill and two decode workers. AgentX G2 tests compare single- and two-replica results and check routing across two logical workers. Shared-pool tests check domain capacity, completed requests, and dp_rank_local results.
Documentation and CLI help describe static aggregated or prefill/decode pools of any size. KV-cache documentation describes HostPinned KV events, play-local token identities, the cluster_shared pool contract, and kvcr qualification status. Existing constraints remain documented.
The implementation appears functional, but important multi-replica behavior is not fully protected by tests and the public documentation can suggest rejected configurations.

Explanation
The PR changes AgentX G2 eligibility logic, not a formula, performance model, model data, or predicted-output baseline. The new logic accepts positive worker counts and retains the existing boundary checks in python/aisimulate/src/aisimulate/sweeper/replay.py:312-337 and crates/core/src/python.rs:249-270. Reproducible evidence is present: runner tests cover accepted multi-worker counts and reject zero, boolean, and missing-role counts (tests/test_runner.py:490-518); native tests execute multi-replica JSON for all scope combinations (crates/core/src/python.rs test block); and AgentX tests compare single- and multi-replica machine-readable reports, worker routing, domain capacity, private/shared behavior, completed requests, and committed tokens (tests/test_agentx_g2.py:58-72, 145-172). The tests also compare public Python, CLI, and native reports. This is not binary-only validation, and no unexplained model or data refresh is introduced.
Full details: Review Evidence
Explanation
The description names the relevant test commands and results, including the AgentX G2 tests, the agentic/G2 runner subset, cargo test -p aisimulate-core --features python public_agentic_json, Ruff checks, and cargo fmt --check. It includes boundary validation for zero and non-integer worker counts and reports the retained configuration constraints. It separates local full-unit failures from the reported validation runs, and it makes no hosted-CI or production-success claim. The reviewed diff changes no workflow files, so it does not cite an inactive nested workflow as hosted CI evidence.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description clearly explains the behavior change, retained constraints, shared-G2 contract, affected components, and validation results. It is mostly complete, although it does not use all template headings or provide explicit review-map and tracking fields.
Full details: Cross-Layer Contract
Explanation
The public feature-support matrix remains stale. The PR changes both AgentX G2 gates to accept any positive worker count in crates/core/src/python.rs and python/aisimulate/src/aisimulate/sweeper/replay.py, and updates docs/replay/features.md. However, pages/feature-support-matrix/features.toml:255-259 still states “One aggregated worker or 1P1D.” pages/README.md:31-36 identifies this TOML file as the public matrix source for validator boundaries. The PR diff does not update that file.
Resolution
Update pages/feature-support-matrix/features.toml:259 to state aggregated or disaggregated deployments with any positive worker count, while retaining the attention-DP1, static-pool, and no-speculation constraints. Validate or regenerate the public feature matrix with the page workflow.
Full details: Compatibility Boundaries
Explanation
The AgentX G2 boundary is synchronized in the changed Python gate, Rust JSON gate, and replay documents, but the public Feature Support Matrix remains stale. pages/feature-support-matrix/features.toml:254-259 still states One aggregated worker or 1P1D, while the changed validators and docs/replay/features.md accept aggregated or P/D deployments with any worker count. The matrix source itself requires updates to stay in step with docs/replay/features.md. The package and crate manifests, versions, maturin binding, and workspace membership are unchanged, and the PR adds no Dynamo dependency or binding. The failure is limited to the omitted public documentation boundary.
Resolution
Update pages/feature-support-matrix/features.toml:259 to state the new AgentX G2 limit: aggregated or P/D with any positive worker count, attention DP1 on every role, static pools, and no speculation. Keep the existing matrix cells unless their qualification changes. Run the feature-matrix validation and documentation consistency checks.

State the valid worker-count boundary.
require_compatible accepts only positive int counts. It rejects 0 and bool, even though bool is an int subclass. The phrase “any worker count” is broader than the runtime contract and is repeated in the workload, SDK, AgentX, and CLI text.
Replace it with “any positive integer worker count” in all copies.
As per path instructions, public claims must match executable behavior.

Update the “any worker count” wording in the Agentic G2 documentation and its
repeated workload, SDK, AgentX, and CLI copies to say “any positive integer
worker count,” matching the accepted runtime boundary.

Assert G2 reuse in the multi-replica runs.
Completion and domain equality can pass even if no request restores a host block. Add a case that forces eviction and asserts first_admission_host_reused_input_tokens for both G2 scopes.

Update the G2 multi-replica test that compares report and single so it includes
a case that forces host-block eviction, then assert
first_admission_host_reused_input_tokens for both G2 scopes. Preserve the
existing completion and domain equality assertions.

Check routing separately for each P/D pool.
Prefill and decode assign worker IDs independently. This union can contain two IDs even if only one pool uses its second worker. Assert two distinct IDs per pool. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Update the routing assertion over report["per_request"] and routing_history to
count distinct logical_worker_id values separately for the prefill and decode
pools, requiring two in each; do not rely on a combined union that can hide a
pool using only one worker.

…SIM-1893, AISIM-1894]
Lift the one-aggregated-worker/1P1D limit on AgentX G2 in both the Python
sweeper gate and the native JSON entrypoint. Each worker publishes its G2
residency as native HostPinned KV events, so a KV-aware placement policy
(such as Dynamo's Router) follows a G2-resident prefix to its owner, and
snapshot/profile plays keep play-local token identities so hits never cross
a recycled play. vLLM, attention DP1 on every role, static pools, and no
speculation or G3 remain required; zero or non-integer worker counts are
still rejected.
Document ownership, discovery, play-scoped identity, contention, stale-entry
fallback, membership, and disable semantics of a cluster-shared G2 pool under
AgentX.
Tests cover multi-replica aggregated and P/D runs through the public API
and native JSON payloads, plus a 2P2D run on one shared pool (capacity
counted once) whose dp_rank_local variant reproduces the private-G2 report
exactly, even with shared-only fields left set. Docs and CLI help describe
the new boundary.

State the positive worker-count boundary.
“Pools of any size” also suggests zero or non-integer worker counts. The AgentX G2 contract rejects both. Document that each pool supports any positive integer number of workers.

The multi-replica test still uses one play, so it cannot detect reuse of G2 entries from an earlier snapshot or profile play. Add a final-consumer test that populates G2 in one play and verifies that the next recycled play does not reuse those entries with multiple workers configured.

Resolves AISIM-1893 and AISIM-1894 (AISimulate side). AISIM-1894's shared-G2 qualification was folded in from #689, since it only adds docs and tests for the behavior enabled here.
AgentX G2 was limited to one aggregated worker or 1P1D by

Zero or non-integer worker counts are still rejected. No new residency path is added. Multi-worker G2 and
HostPinnedevent publication already exist. Snapshot and profile plays already use play-local token namespaces with a distinctcache_id, so G2 hits cannot cross a recycled play.Shared-G2 contract (AISIM-1894)
docs/replay/engine/kv-cache.mdnow documents thecluster_sharedG2 contract under AgentX:HostPinnedto every subscribed rank when its D2H completes, and pool-wide LRU removals are published the same way.dp_rank_localreproduces private G2.The Dynamo Router side (event-driven placement, event-stream validation, multi-replica tests) is in ai-dynamo/dynamo#17878.
