Summary

  • expand sortable task drag activation from the title text to the full non-action title area
  • expand sortable project drag activation to the full primary project button while keeping trailing actions and device metadata outside the activator
  • keep device metadata hit-testable while visually hidden on hover/focus so pointer input cannot fall through to the drag activator
  • update the Wework sidebar interaction rule so short labels retain a usable drag target
  • align the dev-executor reload process test timeout with its intentional debounce and restart lifecycle after the full suite exposed the default 5-second timeout as intermittent

Verification

  • pnpm --filter wework test src/components/layout/DesktopSidebar.test.tsx (100 passed)
  • pnpm --filter wework test scripts/dev-executor-reload.test.mjs (1 passed)
  • pnpm --filter wework typecheck
  • focused Prettier and ESLint checks for all changed files
  • final pre-push Wework checks: ESLint, TypeScript, and all 404 unit-test files passed
  • isolated real Tauri verification: created one-character projects A and B, dragged B from center whitespace to reorder B, A into A, B, then opened the trailing project action menu successfully
  • regression coverage verifies project device metadata remains outside pointer sorting, including during hover/focus hiding

Review Change Stack

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The sidebar now starts pointer sorting from the full primary task or project row area. Device metadata and trailing actions remain excluded. Tests and design guidance reflect the updated activation behavior.

Changes

Sidebar drag activation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Primary area activator wiring
wework/src/components/layout/DesktopSidebar.tsx
Task and project drag activator markers now apply to surrounding clickable title or row containers. Project device status remains pointer-interactive.
Pointer behavior validation
wework/src/components/layout/DesktopSidebar.test.tsx, wework/DESIGN.md
Tests and guidance cover full primary-area activation, rejected metadata and trailing-region drags, pointer cleanup, and keyboard sorting support.

Estimated code review effort: 2 (Simple) | ~10 minutes

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to fe2d0

The sidebar drag-target expansion is localized, but project metadata may still allow pointer input to fall through to the sortable row and cause an unintended reorder. The change is mergeable with explicit owner awareness or follow-up on this bounded interaction risk.

2701-2705: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Keep ProjectDeviceInlineStatus hit-testable on row hover.

At DesktopSidebar.tsx:2705, group-hover/project:invisible removes the metadata from hit testing. pointer-events-auto does not override visibility: hidden. The underlying flex-1 project-item-button can then receive pointerdown and start sorting. Use an invisible-but-hit-testable style such as opacity-0, or move the hiding rule to a non-hit-test overlay. Add coordinate-based isolated real-Tauri coverage; the unit test dispatches directly to remoteMetadata.

Addressed the follow-up review in bb34463e7: project device metadata now hides with opacity instead of visibility, so it stays hit-testable during row hover/focus and cannot expose the underlying drag activator. Regression assertions cover the pointer-event and hover/focus class contract.

The subsequent full pre-push run also exposed an unrelated process integration test whose internal waits allow 10 seconds but whose suite inherited Vitest’s 5-second total timeout. 2c31989c8 aligns that suite timeout with its process lifecycle; the complete 404-file Wework unit suite then passed under the same pre-push load.
