Summary

  • use the real pointer position for sidebar task split-pane drops and suppress sidebar sorting outside its horizontal bounds
  • disable both dnd-kit scrolling paths for task drags that can leave the sidebar
  • lock the Wework sidebar scroll container while an external pane drag is outside the sidebar, preventing WebKit native edge scrolling
  • document the split-drag behavior in Chinese and English

Verification

  • reproduced and verified in the Wework desktop app
  • pnpm --filter wework exec tsc --noEmit
  • focused ESLint on changed Wework files
  • pnpm --filter wework test src/components/layout/SidebarSortableList.test.tsx src/components/layout/DesktopSidebar.test.tsx src/components/layout/workbenchPaneStack.test.tsx (111 tests)
  • pre-push Wework ESLint, TypeScript, and unit tests

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added drag-and-drop task splitting from the sidebar into the workbench’s top, bottom, left, or right areas.
    • Dragging a task to the center replaces the current workbench area.
  • Bug Fixes

    • Sidebar sorting, scrolling, and auto-scroll now pause during workbench dragging and resume reliably afterward.
    • Improved desktop process cleanup detection to prevent stale sessions after processes exit.
  • Documentation

    • Added English and Chinese guidance for splitting tasks by dragging.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The change updates workbench task dragging to control sidebar sorting and scrolling. It adds Linux process-group inspection that distinguishes live processes from zombie-only members. Documentation and regression tests cover both behaviors.

Changes

Workbench task dragging

Layer / File(s) Summary
Sidebar sortable external-drag handling
wework/src/components/layout/SidebarSortableList.tsx, wework/src/components/layout/sidebarSortableAutoScroll.ts
Sidebar dragging tracks pointer boundaries, suppresses sorting and auto-scroll outside the sidebar, and dispatches external drag events with live coordinates.
Desktop sidebar drag lifecycle
wework/src/components/layout/DesktopSidebar.tsx, wework/src/components/layout/useSidebarPaneDragScrollLock.ts
DesktopSidebar locks the scroll position during external pane drags and restores normal scrolling when the drag ends or is canceled.
Drag validation and documentation
wework/src/components/layout/*.test.tsx, docs/en/wework/workbench.md, docs/zh/wework/workbench.md
Tests cover drag state, scrolling, pointer coordinates, and cancellation. Documentation describes directional splitting, center replacement, and sidebar behavior.

Linux process lifecycle

Layer / File(s) Summary
Linux process-group inspection
wework/e2e/desktop/process-lifecycle.mjs
Linux process-group checks parse /proc/<pid>/stat, ignore dead process states, and retain signal-based behavior on non-Linux platforms.
Process lifecycle validation
wework/src/e2e/desktop-process-lifecycle.test.ts
Tests cover zombie-only groups, groups with live members, and groups with no matching process statistics.

Extract the sidebar drag lifecycle into a dedicated hook.

This effect adds an independent global-event and scroll-lock lifecycle to DesktopSidebar, which already extends past Line 4,700. Move this lifecycle into a focused hook that returns the scroll-container ref, outside state, and scroll handler.

As per coding guidelines, split files over 1000 lines and keep functions focused.
