Created tests for PoolsideV1ToolParser based off of a similar parser (Glm4MoeModelToolParser).

poolside_v1 was the only parser registered in vllm/tool_parsers/__init__.py with a full streaming + non-streaming implementation but zero test coverage. This PR adds that coverage.

Summary

  • Adds tests/tool_parsers/test_poolside_v1_tool_parser.py with 13 tests covering both streaming and non-streaming paths
  • Tests: no-tool-call passthrough, single tool call, parallel tool calls, empty arguments, surrounding text, type deserialization, and malformed input graceful handling
  • Follows the Mock(spec=ChatCompletionRequest) fixture pattern established by test_glm4_moe_tool_parser.py for parsers whose streaming path guards on request.tools

Why not a duplicate

Searched open PRs before filing:

gh pr list --repo vllm-project/vllm --state open --search "poolside tool parser test"
gh pr list --repo vllm-project/vllm --state open --search "poolside_v1"

No results. poolside_v1 has had no test file since it was introduced.

Key implementation note

PoolsideV1ToolParser.extract_tool_calls_streaming short-circuits to content pass-through when request.tools is None. The test fixture uses Mock(spec=ChatCompletionRequest) with tools and logprobs set explicitly — the same pattern as test_glm4_moe_tool_parser.py, which has the identical guard. All tests pass a single mock_request to both streaming and non-streaming paths.

Closing this — poolside_v1 test coverage has since landed on main (via #46486, #47138, #47311), which supersedes the tests added here. Thanks!
