I feel like the workaround is more likely to be seen as a bug than a feature to be extended.

@nickolas-pohilets I'm going to make an editorial pass over your proposal document, but please feel free to go ahead and start a pitch thread. We do have an expectation that proposals will be separately pitched; the existing discussion thread (which, according to its title, is actually about captures) is not enough.
