WalkthroughThe package manager can now replace a dependency across project package files. The Svelte CSF automigration uses this method to replace the addon with the selected framework package. The migration guide adds instructions for monorepos. ChangesSvelte CSF dependency migration

- Line 461: Update the assignment in the package replacement flow in
JsPackageManager so a source `catalog:` reference is reused only when the target
framework package has a registered entry in that catalog; otherwise, use the
supplied version range.
- Around line 456-457: Update the Storybook version lookup in the
`JsPackageManager` method to include `packageJson.peerDependencies?.storybook`
alongside the dependency and devDependency lookups, preserving a peer-only
declared range instead of falling back to a broader version.
- Around line 445-447: Update the dependency-field selection in the migration
around `packageJson[field]?.[dependency]` to include `optionalDependencies`, so
addon declarations there are found and replaced along with dependencies,
devDependencies, and peerDependencies.

It replaces a dependency with another package in every package.json of the project, in the same dependency field, and gives the replacement the same version range as the file's storybook dependency. A package.json that already declares the replacement only loses the old dependency. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
…kspace package In a monorepo, the packages that own Svelte CSF stories also list @storybook/addon-svelte-csf. The automigration removed it only from the first package.json, so those packages kept the addon, which needs storybook@^10, and their stories imported a framework package they didn't declare. The fix now replaces the addon with the framework package in every package.json that lists it. The migration guide says so too. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

What I did
The QA of
storybook@11.0.0-alpha.3on real projects found that theaddon-svelte-csf-to-coreautomigration breaks npm-workspace monorepos, for example SWRdata/components. There, the Storybook config is instorybook/, and the stories are incomponents/andcomponents-map/. All threepackage.jsonfiles list@storybook/addon-svelte-csf.JsPackageManager.removeDependenciesremoves a package only from the firstpackage.jsonthat lists it, as its docs say. So the fix removed the addon fromstorybook/package.jsononly.components/andcomponents-map/kept the addon, which needsstorybook@^10, and their rewritten stories imported@storybook/svelte-vite, which they didn't declare.storybook buildfailed, and 179 of 182 entries failed in dev. Each rerun removed the addon from one more package.JsPackageManager.replaceDependency(dependency, replacement, version). In everypackage.jsonof the project (packageJsonPaths, which includes the packages that own stories), it replaces the dependency with the other package, in the same dependency field. The replacement gets the same range as that file'sstorybookdependency, so it matches the versionupgradejust wrote. If that file has nostorybookdependency, or declares it with a non-semver specifier likecatalog:orworkspace:, the replacement gets the given version. If the file already declares the replacement, it only removes the old dependency.removeDependencieskeeps its first-match behavior, because four other fixes call it.runcallsreplaceDependency(addon, framework, '^<storybook version>'), thenremoveAddonfor the main config as before. Not in this PR
node_modules, wheregetModulePackageJSONdoesn't look.Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'fonts'). The QA thought the leftover addon caused it, but it still happens with this fix, when no package needs Storybook 10 anymore.upgraderunsnpm install --forceon the existing lockfile, and npm then nests one copy of the same 11.0 version ofstorybook,@storybook/addon-docsand the Svelte packages in each workspace, without hoisting them to the root. MDX files incomponents/load their ownaddon-docscopy, so the build has twothemingchunks. A fresh lockfile hoists everything and fixes the docs pages, but it also updates unrelated dependencies. This affectsupgradein any npm-workspace monorepo, so it gets its own ticket.Checklist for Contributors
