ApprovabilityVerdict: Not approved Macroscope's review found this PR not approvable — This PR changes several production UI surfaces and moves actionable server-update, parked-thread, and context-compaction behavior between the composer, header, toolbar, and timeline. The cross-component state and update-action wiring create a broader runtime impact than a small isolated presentation change. Notes:

Settled, snoozed, compaction, and server update notices stacked above the composer on every idle thread. None of them change what pressing Enter does, so they do not belong attached to the input. The compaction offer is now the last timeline row, in the slot the compaction separator takes once the user compacts. Settled and snoozed show as a pill in the thread header and as the empty composer placeholder. Server update available is one word after the server name in the context strip under the composer, scoped to the server the thread runs on. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Knip flagged the export. Nothing outside the derive reads it. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
A queued message has already decided the next send, so the offer row was stale and rendered above the queued bubble instead of last. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>

The header pill is a Button, the timeline Compact is an InlineButton, and the strip Update keeps only typography over the xs ghost Button it wraps. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…arked release The strip now mounts when the sole primary server has an update waiting, and the narrow run-context menu carries the update as an item. The parked pill keeps a per-thread pending key so a second click cannot send a duplicate un-settle or wake. The pill uses a new Button pill size instead of overriding xs. The PR is about the banner stack. The narrow-layout menu item, the render prop on ServerUpdateAction, and the two Button variants were review-driven scope. The header pill goes back to a styled xs Button. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
An up arrow takes the machine icon's place on the context strip's server chip while an update is waiting. Where the chip is a static label it becomes the update action. Where it is the environment picker the arrow marks the trigger and the server's row. The one-word Update control is gone. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>

With several servers the chip is a picker, so the arrow alone had no action. The picker now ends with an update row that runs the same flow as the chip. Picking it never changes the selected environment. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…e one The trigger hook now reports actionable and does nothing for an old desktop-managed server, matching the component's instruction-only branch. The picker hides its update row in that case. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
EnvironmentId is any non-empty string, so the picker's action rows and the environment rows now live in separate prefixes. No server-minted id can collide with the update or auto-balance row. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>

1004-1010: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winExtract the shared "setup handed off while running" condition.
This file recomputes, for the background-setup chip, the same condition that
MessagesTimeline.logic.tsuses internally (assetupHandedOff && phase === "running") to decide whether to omit theworktree-setuprow from the timeline. The row is absent exactly when the chip should appear, so both computations encode one business rule with no shared source.Export a single predicate from
MessagesTimeline.logic.ts, for exampleworktreeSetupHandedOffWhileRunning(worktreeSetup, latestTurn), and use it in both places. This removes the risk that a future change to one side leaves the row and the chip out of sync (both showing, or neither showing).♻️ Proposed refactor

An old desktop-managed server keeps its arrow on the picker trigger. The update row now stays, disabled, and says to update the desktop app on that machine instead of vanishing. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Taking over this one. Main has already replaced the settled and compaction presentation, so I will rebuild the remaining idle server-update notice work against current main as a focused replacement stack, preserving the update paths and crediting this PR. I will link the replacement before closing this original. No merge from this batch. |
|
Thanks @t3dotgg — the original correctly identified that routine notices were crowding the composer. Rebuilt the remaining idle server-update portion as the single replacement #21950, based on current main and sharing the existing update flow. I compared the whole original diff with the replacement. Main already supersedes the settled/snoozed and compaction presentation, so those old changes and their release/timeline helpers were intentionally not carried over. The environment update indicator, static-chip action, picker action and narrow-layout access are in the replacement. Running/failed and automatic-balancing banners retain current behavior. Fresh tests and independent Opus/Sol review cover the applicable historical findings; the replacement body contains actual before/after client evidence and verification limits. Closing this superseded proposal; landing remains with the central coordinator. |
Idle threads stacked up to three banners above the composer: "This thread is settled", "Resume with less context", and "Server update available". None of them change what pressing Enter does, so they were clutter attached to the input. Hover the stack and it grew taller than the composer itself.
Each notice now lives where its scope is:
The banner stack still exists for the cases that block send: environment offline, provider signed out, branch changed, clone failed, plus activity like agents working.

The environment picker's update row. My test data has one environment, so the chip never becomes a picker here. It is covered by typecheck and lint only.

Web only. Mobile does not render the banner stack today. The compaction offer row is derived in the shared timeline logic, so mobile can pick it up once it renders that row kind.
