- Line 501: Bound retries in the loop using `use()` so it cannot create servers
and connections indefinitely when no active build is observed. After the limit,
fail the test with a diagnostic if three active builds were not observed;
alternatively, keep builds pending until disposal.

Nothing blocking. The comments below are optional suggestions. There is no need to push a fix for them before merging.
Beyond the inline findings, I also checked whether the de-flake weakens what the fixture asserts: it does not — a server that was not caught mid-build is excluded from the count rather than counted as a pass, so the three samples that feed the final collected/kept check are still all disposed-while-building, and data() only fires once a build has produced a response, so a path in answered really is finished.
Extended reasoning...
The change is confined to the inline fixture string in test/js/bun/module-graph/module-graph-isolation.test.ts and touches no runtime code or security-sensitive surface. The inline findings cover the unbounded retry loop and the sockets that close or error without data; this note records the one further concern examined (silent weakening of the original assertion) and why it was ruled out.

LGTM — small, test-only fixture change with the follow-up commit naming the skipped-server case on stderr.
What was reviewed:
- The new wait condition in
disposed-while-building-pages.mjs:answeredis filled from each socket'sdata(), so the wait now ends once all six responses have started even ifpendingRequestswent 0 -> 6 -> 0 between turns;buildingis read beforedispose(), so a server that was caught mid-build still exercises the original property. - The retry loop still requires three servers actually disposed mid-build before the leak check runs, so the "collected"/"kept N" assertion is not weakened by the change.
- Both spawning tests drain stdout and
exitedtogether and keep the 30 s SIGKILL ceiling; no runtime code is touched.
Extended reasoning...
The diff touches only the inline fixture string in test/js/bun/module-graph/module-graph-isolation.test.ts (lines 488-502): it widens the poll to also stop when every response has started arriving, returns whether the server was still building at dispose time, and retries use() until three mid-build disposals are observed, with a stderr line for each skipped server. No security-sensitive surface is involved. The change is self-contained, the files are not covered by CODEOWNERS, the only other reviewer (coderabbitai) left a COMMENTED review rather than CHANGES_REQUESTED, and the author pushed a follow-up commit and replied on each open thread. The remaining design choice (no cap on retries) was already raised as optional in the prior run and is a judgment call that does not weaken what the test asserts.
What does this PR do?
Fixes the way "a server whose HTML routes were still being built is released with it" in
test/js/bun/module-graph/module-graph-isolation.test.tsfails on Windows. The file failed and passed on a retry on the Windows 2019 x64 lane in builds of 8 branches between 127026 and 127507. Of the 4 I read, 3 are this test, each time after 30 s:The fixture asks a server for six HTML routes, and disposes the graph once it sees a request that is waiting for its build:
untillooks once per turn of the event loop. #45816 ran a copy of the fixture that reports where it is after 10 s, and it was there on both Windows lanes of build 127847:All six requests had been answered. They arrived and their builds finished between two looks, so the count went from 0 to 6 and back unseen, and it stays 0.
The wait now also ends when every request has an answer. A server that was not disposed during a build shows nothing, so it does not count towards the three, and the fixture says so on stderr.
This is not the
kept 1that the same test gives on the macOS x64 lane. How did you verify your code works?
Windows 11 x64, 24 cores, with a binary CI built from main's code (f1fc570). That test alone, main's file and this PR's in alternating rounds, 48 at a time for 1500 runs of each and 96 at a time for 6000:
The four are runs that printed the new line, made another server, and passed.
Linux x64, with the binary CI built for main (47c8687). To miss the builds on purpose, the third server's wait starts 200 ms late. The two tests that run this fixture:
With every server's wait 200 ms late, the fixture is killed after 30 s as before, with "every build was done before a turn saw one" 148 times in the output.
As it is: the two tests pass 300 of 300 times on that binary and 60 of 60 on the ASAN one (5b468a6), and the whole file passes (413 pass).
A server that is kept still fails. With every server the fixture makes pushed to a global array, both tests fail with
kept 3.In CI: the file passed at the first attempt on both lanes in build 127869 (the first commit).
