This registers the production Cloud journey (cloud-journey-prod.yml) on main. GitHub registers schedule and workflow_dispatch only from the default branch. The job checks out feat-cmux-next and runs that branch's scripts/cmux-next/cloud-journey.ts, so main gets only this one workflow file. The same file lands on feat-cmux-next in the companion PR on that branch, which has the details and the first production run.

What it does (the stub model every hour; the real Claude login every six hours as a canary):

  • It signs in as the production agent test account, creates a machine and passes the account's Claude login the way the Mac app does.
  • It starts Claude, sends one chat and reads the reply back, then deletes the machine. In the hourly stub run, everything is real except the model endpoint. That endpoint is a stub on the machine's loopback, which checks that the passed login arrived and that one tool call round-trips. The real run uses the real model.
  • The step table goes in the run summary, and probe.json (the probe row cloud-chat-replies-production) goes in the artifact.
  • A red run opens one issue, or rewrites that issue if it is already open. The next green run closes it.

It takes the production agent account (CMUX_DOGFOOD_STACK_*) from environment cmux-next-cloud-journey, which shadows the repository's dev pair. The real run also uses the repository's CLAUDE_CODE_OAUTH_TOKEN. Companion: #35301.

Observed / Not run

  • actionlint is clean.
  • Its first scheduled run happens after this merges.

Walkthrough

The workflow runs the production Cloud journey hourly with the stub model and every six hours with the real model. Manual dispatch selects either model. Selected runs upload output and update model-specific issues under the configured schedule and dispatch conditions.

Changes: Production Cloud journey

Layer / File(s) Summary
Workflow triggers and model selection
.github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml
Documents the workflow and configures its schedules, model-selection input, permissions, concurrency, and runner selection. The job is gated to scheduled runs or dispatches on main in the manaflow-ai repository.
Journey execution and output
.github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml
Checks out feat-cmux-next, sets up Bun, and runs the journey with production test-account credentials. Only the real-model run receives the OAuth token. The workflow writes the summary when available, uses a fallback message otherwise, and uploads output for 14 days.
Model-specific issue tracking
.github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml
For selected scheduled runs and dispatches, closes the model's open issue after success or creates or updates it after other outcomes.

Possibly related issues

  • manaflow-ai/cmux#35086 — The workflow runs a scheduled production journey that reads the Claude reply and records a probe. It does not add the requested CLI script.
  • manaflow-ai/cmux#35132 — The workflow runs the journey with production credentials, but does not implement the listed follow-ups for the journey script.

Possibly related PRs

  • manaflow-ai/cmux#34698 — This PR removes earlier Cloud probe workflows. This change adds a production Cloud journey workflow.
  • manaflow-ai/cmux#35187 — This PR provisions a staging journey account. This workflow runs the journey with a production account.
Merge Risk: Moderate · previous review 39dd4

Require reviewed code before granting production credentials. Issue tracking can also leave duplicate alerts open or report recovery after an artifact upload failure, and queued manual runs can be replaced. Resolve or explicitly accept these risks before merging.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description is detailed and on-topic. It includes a strong summary, testing information, and a changelog entry. It omits the template's explicit Testing, Proof, and Checklist sections, but the available content is mostly complete for this CI-only change.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

No eligible functions found in the changed files. Skipping docstring coverage check. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 0 functions across 0 files. (1 skipped: 1 unsupported.)

Full details: Cmux Cloud Persistent Session And Early Input

Explanation

PASS: The pull request adds only .github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml. Its changes configure GitHub Actions scheduling, checkout, credentials, timeouts, artifacts, and issue handling. The diff does not change Cloud terminal creation, cmux-tui transport, manual renderer admission, input ownership, snapshots, or auth/idempotency/revision/lease handling.

Full details: Cmux Swift Actor Isolation

Explanation

The pull request changes only .github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml (+129 lines) and contains no changed Swift files. Therefore it cannot introduce or worsen the specified Swift 6 actor-isolation issues.

Full details: Cmux Swift Blocking Runtime

Explanation

The pull request changes only .github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml. It adds workflow YAML and does not modify production Swift code or introduce Swift semaphores, blocking waits, sleeps, delayed dispatch, polling, main-queue synchronization, or manual locks.

Full details: Cmux Browser Automation Off-Main

Explanation

The reviewed range changes only .github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml. It does not modify Sources/TerminalController.swift, ControlCommandExecutionPolicy.swift, browser socket commands, worker routing, WebKit/AppKit access, or policy tests. The custom check is therefore not applicable, and no existing browser-automation debt is worsened.

Full details: Cmux Expensive Synchronous Load

Explanation

The pull request changes only .github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml (+129 lines). It adds a GitHub Actions workflow that runs a TypeScript journey script; it adds or moves no Swift code, agent-history loader, transcript/file parsing, or interactive Swift path. The custom check is therefore not applicable.

Full details: Cmux Cache Substitution Correctness

Explanation

PASS: The pull request changes only .github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml. It does not change production Swift, TypeScript, or JavaScript code, and it does not replace an authoritative read with a cached value in a persistence, history, undo, or snapshot path.

Full details: Cmux No Hacky Sleeps

Explanation

The PR changes only .github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml. The rule explicitly excludes GitHub Actions workflow YAML, and the PR does not change a TypeScript, JavaScript, shell, or other covered runtime script. No in-scope hacky sleep or fixed delay is introduced by this diff.

Full details: Cmux Algorithmic Complexity

Explanation

PASS: The PR adds only .github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml. Its shell step handles a fixed two-model matrix and performs one issue-list query with a single jq selection. It introduces no nested full-collection scans, per-target rescans, repeated hot-path sorting/filtering, in-memory joins, or unbenchmarked algorithm for scalable user-owned records.

Full details: Cmux Swift `@Concurrent`

Explanation

PASS: The pull request changes only .github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml. It introduces no Swift files, Swift functions, @concurrent annotations, or nonisolated async call sites. The Swift concurrency check is therefore not applicable.

Full details: Cmux Swift Package Boundaries

Explanation

The pull request changes only .github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml. The authoritative diff contains no Swift files or Swift package changes, so it does not violate the Swift package boundary rule.

Full details: Cmux Swiftpm Lockfiles

Explanation

The pull request changes only .github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml. It does not change a cmux-owned .gitignore, Package.swift, Xcode package references, or SwiftPM Package.resolved files. Therefore, it does not trigger any failure condition in the SwiftPM lockfile policy.

Full details: Cmux User-Facing Error Privacy

Explanation

PASS. The PR changes only .github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml. Its output goes to GitHub Actions summaries, artifacts, and repository issues for CI operators. The diff provides no concrete path to a cmux end user through an app UI, product CLI, or product API. The workflow names internal services and configuration, but the rule permits those in CI and operator diagnostics, and no secret values or raw payloads are emitted by the changed text.

Full details: Cmux Full Internationalization

Explanation

PASS: The pull request adds only .github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml. Its text is CI configuration, comments, GitHub Actions labels, and operational issue/reporting text. It does not add or change Swift UI text, app catalogs, web UI messages, locale data, API responses, changelog content, or product-facing rendered content. The internationalization rule allows operational documentation and literal configuration tokens.

Full details: Cmux Swiftui State Layout

Explanation

PASS: The pull request changes only .github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml. It introduces no SwiftUI code, ObservableObject or @Published state, GeometryReader layout, lazy/list row store references, or render-time state mutation.

Full details: Cmux Architecture Rethink

Explanation

The pull request changes only .github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml. The reviewed range contains no Swift files and no Swift architecture changes. The specified failure conditions therefore do not apply.

Full details: Cmux Swift Auxiliary Window Close Shortcuts

Explanation

PASS: The reviewed range adds only .github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml. It contains no Swift changes and does not add or modify a cmux-owned window. The auxiliary-window close-shortcut rule is therefore not applicable.

Full details: Cmux Source Artifacts

Explanation

PASS. The pull request adds only .github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml, a hand-written CI configuration file. Its temporary output and uploaded artifacts are runtime workflow behavior, not source-controlled artifact paths. No scratch, cache, build-output, dependency-checkout, or broad artifact directory enters the diff.

Full details: Cmux No Test Or Debug Seam In Production Source

Explanation

PASS: The pull request changes only .github/workflows/cloud-journey-prod.yml. It adds no Swift file and no Swift diff under a production Sources/ path, so the specified production test/debug seam condition is not applicable.

Unverified finding
We couldn't verify this from the code. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.

Sparse checkout includes only the journey scripts and the Swift credentials directory. If cloud-journey.ts loads a repository file outside those paths, the workflow cannot run the journey even though the file exists in the selected revision.

The production check fails during setup or execution rather than exercising Cloud chat.

This can occur when: The journey or its invoked helper reads a root configuration file, package metadata, fixture, or script outside the two sparse-checkout paths.

86-86: Minor · Potential issue · Quick win

Unverified finding
We couldn't verify this from the code. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.

The real leg changes the probe identifier from cloud-chat-replies-production to cloud-chat-replies-production-real-model. A probe consumer configured only for the documented production row may ignore real-model results.

The six-hour real-model canary runs but its probe result is absent from the expected production monitoring signal.

This can occur when: Probe ingestion or alerting selects rows by the cloud-chat-replies-production identifier and has no registration for the real-model suffix.

Serialize the red-issue step per model so overlapping runs cannot both create an issue.

Manual dispatch runs share the group cloud-journey-prod-dispatch, and each scheduled cron has its own group. A main-branch dispatch can therefore run beside a scheduled run for the same model. If both are red and no issue is open, both can list open issues, see none, and create one each. The green-run step then closes only the first matching issue, so the duplicate stays open. Serialize the issue step per model, for example with a job-level concurrency group keyed on ${{ matrix.model }}, in place of the workflow-level group.

Require a successful artifact upload before closing the issue.

The issue step closes the open issue when only the journey step succeeded. It never reads the upload step's outcome. If the upload fails, the run is red, but the issue still closes. Record the upload outcome in the issue step and close only when both steps succeed.

The fix does not restore a missing probe.json. The upload failure still loses that artifact.

CI passes on bef965d31c (run 41875027501 attempt 1).

Written by scripts/ci/classify_failures.py (ci-failure-attribution.yml); signatures are its SIGNATURES table. A machine verdict is the runner's fault, not this PR's; yours means the failing file is one this PR changes, also red on main that main's latest full suite fails the same way, seen on other PRs that it failed on another pull request's run lately.

CI fast guards passes on bef965d31c (run). This covers only the fast guards, not CI: CI's result is ci-status.

Merge receipt for bef965d31c: every check was green at merge (11 verified; 16 skipped by policy). Full suite runs on main after merge.

Stop manual dispatches from replacing each other in the queue.

All manual dispatches share the concurrency group cloud-journey-prod-dispatch. GitHub cancels a pending run when a newer run joins its group. A third dispatch therefore cancels a queued second dispatch, and that run never produces its probe or issue update. Opt the dispatch runs into GitHub's queuing, or give manual dispatches a group that does not replace pending runs.

Update the cloud-journey-prod concurrency configuration so each manual dispatch
is retained and runs instead of replacing an earlier pending dispatch; use
supported queuing behavior or a dispatch group that prevents pending runs from
replacing one another, while preserving the scheduled-run grouping behavior.

Require review for the code that runs with production credentials.

feat-cmux-next has no review rule and no branch protection. A direct push there runs in the next scheduled journey with the production account and CLAUDE_CODE_OAUTH_TOKEN. The cmux-next-cloud-journey environment has no required reviewers and no deployment branch policy. Require review on feat-cmux-next and on this environment, or pin the checkout to a reviewed commit.

Update the checkout `ref` from the unprotected moving branch to a reviewed
immutable commit SHA, or ensure branch protection and required reviewers for
both `feat-cmux-next` and the `cmux-next-cloud-journey` environment before
retaining the branch reference. Do not select an unverified commit.

The job holds the journey environment's secrets, so no repository variable
may move it onto a reused machine (fork runner routing guard). Outside
manaflow-ai it falls back to ubuntu-24.04, where no Blacksmith runner exists.

Awareness note from an agent lane that does not own this PR; it is not a review or a request to take the PR over.

Awareness, from the lane working the prod-connect piece of the NEXT Cloud end-to-end handoff: the only red here is CI fast guards, test_a_job_with_a_secret_runs_where_no_variable_can_move_it (cloud-journey-prod.yml, job journey). This job holds the production account and CLAUDE_CODE_OAUTH_TOKEN, and its runs-on falls back to fromJSON(vars.RUNNER_POOLS).linux_2, which a variable can move off an ephemeral runner. Main's bounded selector (used by 34 jobs) fixes it:

    runs-on: ${{ github.repository_owner != 'manaflow-ai' && 'ubuntu-24.04' || contains(fromJSON('["blacksmith-4vcpu-ubuntu-2404","blacksmith-8vcpu-ubuntu-2404","blacksmith-16vcpu-ubuntu-2404","blacksmith-32vcpu-ubuntu-2404"]'), vars.LINUX_RUNNER) && vars.LINUX_RUNNER || 'blacksmith-4vcpu-ubuntu-2404' }}

The same fallback is on feat-cmux-next, in this file and in backend.yml journey-production.

Its job holds the journey environment's secrets, which the fork-routing secret
rule keeps off any runner a variable can move, so it names its label literally
like the signing jobs.

… production journey names its runner (#35717)

* ci: the backend secret-route guard covers the three Cloud journey jobs

journey-preview, journey-staging and journey-production (#35103) read secrets
and the cmux-next-cloud-journey environment, so they belong in
BACKEND_SECRET_JOBS; without them the guard's credentialed-set check fails and
their routes go unchecked. Their routes already have the bounded pool-read
shape. cloud-journey-prod.yml's job holds the production account, so it names
blacksmith-4vcpu-ubuntu-2404 literally, as on main (#35303).

* ci: the production journey reads the Blacksmith pools, not a literal size

feat-cmux-next's runner guards refuse a literal single-size label (#32457) and
one with no overflow failover (#26439), and the old linux_2 route was reachable
outside manaflow-ai. The job now takes the owner fork branch, then the overflow
pool linux_16 or linux_8, the same pools backend.yml's credentialed jobs end in.
It no longer reads vars.LINUX_RUNNER, so that variable cannot move it.
