Use the pull request head SHA for the feat-cmux-next case.
The comment states that this workflow uses the pull request's own head, but github.sha is the pull request merge commit. This can include base-branch changes. Use github.event.pull_request.head.sha when github.base_ref == 'feat-cmux-next'; keep feat-cmux-next for other runs. GitHub documents this distinction. (docs.github.com)

Review comment at @.github/workflows/nightly-next-launch-smoke.yml at line 59:
Update the TOOLING_REF expression so pull requests targeting feat-cmux-next use
github.event.pull_request.head.sha instead of github.sha; retain feat-cmux-next
as the value for other runs.

Make the evidence download non-fatal so it cannot block the rollback.
actions/download-artifact has no continue-on-error. If the download fails (the artifact is missing, the upload failed, or there is a service error), the job stops. The Roll the feed back step has no if: always(), so it is skipped. The crashing build then stays on the feed.
The failure is not self-correcting. Crashes are not cached, so each tick re-smokes the build. If the upload keeps failing, each tick fails the download again and never reaches the rollback.
The rollback does not need the evidence. The File the crash step already handles a missing evidence/evidence.md. Make the download non-fatal.
IMPORTANT
Carefully review the code before committing. Ensure that it accurately replaces the highlighted code, contains no missing lines, and has no issues with indentation. Thoroughly test & benchmark the code to ensure it meets the requirements.

Make the actions/download-artifact step for launch-smoke-${{ env.BUILD }}
non-fatal so a missing or failed evidence download does not prevent the Roll the
feed back step from running; keep the existing artifact name and destination
unchanged.

Add the newest-build guard to the receiving rollback workflow.
At the reviewed revision, nightly-next-rollback.yml does not declare if_newest or check it against its live feed read. This dispatch therefore supplies an unsupported input, so a confirmed crash cannot start the automatic rollback. Add the input to the registered workflow and enforce it in the rollback plan on nightly-next. Keep this dispatch guarded. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

283 - 284:
The rollback dispatch supplies if_newest, but the receiving workflow does not
declare or enforce it. Update the nightly-next-rollback workflow’s input
declaration and rollback-plan logic to validate if_newest against the live feed
read on nightly-next; preserve the guard on this dispatch.

review. Visit https://docs.coderabbit.ai/cli?utm_source=ghpr
Do not dispatch the rollback without a newest-build guard.
If the dispatch with if_newest is rejected, the fallback sends bad_build without that guard. The rollback workflow reads the feed again and plans --bad, which pulls the requested build and every newer build. A newer publication between the smoke read and rollback read can therefore be pulled too. The compare-and-swap only detects changes after the rollback read.

In the “Roll the feed back” step, remove the fallback that dispatches
