Rebases / updates #6527 onto latest main so Whisper dictation can merge.

Conflict resolution:

  • AgentInput keeps main’s file-attachment composer and adds Whisper dictation.
  • ChannelInput keeps main’s flat / Dynamic composer chrome plus dictation controls.
  • Comment-import tests keep release_import_lock and the explicit advisory unlock.
  • Linux and Darwin node_modules hashes refreshed for @solid-primitives/stream.

Local validation:

  • Vitest dictation/composer suites: 74 passed
  • cargo test -p dictation -p ai_usage: 29 passed
  • comment_import tests: 9 passed
  • DSS compiles
  • just check passed

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added microphone dictation to AI chat, agent, channel, mobile, expanded, and collapsed composers.
    • Record audio, review volume and transcription status, then cancel or insert the transcript into the draft.
    • Dictation appends to existing text, preserves drafts when canceled, and prevents sending during recording.
    • Added support for WebM, MP4, Ogg, and WAV recordings up to five minutes and 8 MiB.
    • Added audio-based usage tracking and pricing support.
  • Documentation

    • Added guidance for using microphone dictation and its transcription behavior.

Walkthrough

This change adds Whisper-based dictation across browser composers and a new document-storage transcription endpoint. It introduces in-memory recording, audio validation, duration inspection, retries, cancellation, rate limiting, and provider integration. AI usage billing now supports audio duration and per-minute pricing. Agent, channel, and chat composers render dictation controls and block sending during active dictation. OpenAPI schemas, database migrations, service wiring, tests, and documentation are updated.

Priority: ➖ Normal

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 6b1fc

Existing deployments can lose dictation billing, while saturation can consume user quota without transcription. Resolve these issues and the smaller API, documentation, and test defects before merging.

Query the cancel control by accessible name.

Button removes label from the forwarded props and renders it as aria-label. The [label="Cancel dictation"] selector therefore returns null, and cancel.focus() throws. Use the accessible-name query.

If defined the value should be valid content type such as`application/json`. By default the content type is`text/plain` for primitive Rust types,`application/octet-stream` for`[u8]` and`application/json` for struct and mixed enum types. ... ``` #[utoipa::path( post, request_body( content( ("image/png"), ("image/jpg"), ), ), path = "/test_images" )] async fn test_images(_body: Vec<u8>) {} ... of sending`multipart` form. ... ``` #[derive(utoipa::ToSchema)] st…[truncated] <title>Implement automatic schema collection for requests</title> GitHub pull request 1066 in juhaku/utoipa (link omitted to avoid creating a cross-reference) # Implement automatic schema collection for requests - State: merged - Author: juhaku - Created: 2024-09-26T14:43:11Z - Updated: 2024-09-26T17:24:39Z - Repository: juhaku/utoipa - Number: `#1066` - +2215 -493 in 25 files - Merged: 2024-09-26T17:24:37Z - Merge commit: 5a066166f9a68e6ed5b1909abb87980457ce49b2 ## Labels - enhancement --- This PR implements functionality to recognize recursive schemas within types implementing `ToSchema` trait by (derive). These schema references will be collected to the single list of schemas which are added to the schema automatically from their usage point. If schema is registered at `schemas(MyType)` for `OpenApi` then the type and it&`#39`;s schema references found recursively will be registered to the `OpenApi`. If the type is defined in `#[utoipa::path(request_body = ...)]` the schema and it&`#39`;s recursively found schema references will be automatically added to the schema when the handler is registered to the `OpenApi`. If the framework supports request body from http handler function arguments (like `actix_web`, `axum`) then the schema will be added to the `OpenApi` as well with recursively found schema references when the handler is registered to the `OpenApi`. This commit also refactors the parsing for `#[utoipa::path(request_body = ...)]` Which enables the support for automatic schema reference recognition and collection. This also comes with the possibility to only add `request_body(content_type = "my/type")` without the schema if wanted. More over from now on the `request_body` supports defining multiple content objects allowing users to define multiple request body content&`#39`;s like the responses support. ### Breaking changes This `request_body` parsing is in over all breaking change and the changed spec need be checked from the docs or tests. In short the `content_type = ...` does not support anymore array syntax. E.g. `content_type = [...]` is not possible anymore. Instead to support multiple content types in request body on must define multiple content objects similar to responses. ```text request_body( content( (Item = "content/type"), (Item = "content/type2"), ) ) ``` Example of supported syntax to demonstrate the automatic schema collecting from `test_collect_schemas` handler when registered to the `OpenApi`. Same way if `Person` was declared to `OpenApi` via `schemas(Person)` then `Account` would also get registered. ```rust #[derive(ToSchema)] struct Account { id: i32, } #[derive(ToSchema)] struct Person { name: String, account: Account, } #[utoipa::path( post, request_body = Person, path = "/test-collect-schemas", responses( (status = 200, description = "success response") ), )] async fn test_collect_schemas(_body: Person) -> &&`#39`;static str { "" } #[derive(OpenApi)] #[openapi(paths(test_collect_schemas))] struct ApiDoc; ``` Fixes `#692` Relates `#662` `#591` `#965` `#779` ## Timeline - juhaku connected - juhaku added label "enhancement" - juhaku connected - juhaku connected - Referenced by issue `#692`: make request_body allow multiple content types like responses do - juhaku head_ref_force_pushed - someone committed - juhaku head_ref_force_pushed - juhaku merged - juhaku closed - juhaku head_ref_deleted - Referenced by issue `#44`: Version 0.2.0 (For utoipa v5) - Referenced in commit 311c3eb <title>Utoipa 5.0.0 Migration Guide · juhaku utoipa · Discussion `#1124` · GitHub</title> GitHub discussion 1124 in juhaku/utoipa (link omitted to avoid creating a cross-reference) Utoipa 5.0.0 Migration Guide · juhaku utoipa · Discussion `#1124` · GitHub # Utoipa 5.0.0 Migration Guide `#1124` juhaku announced in Announcements Utoipa 5.0.0 Migration Guide `#1124` Return to top edited ## juhaku Oct 14, 2024 Maintainer | Migration Guide 4.x.x -> 5.0.0 Nesting support All new nesting support is available since utoipa 5.0.0. Nesting needs a`path` under the`api` that is going to be nested. Optionally`tags` can be provided for all routes of the`NestableApi`. This allows better composition and enables users to split a single OpenApi declaration to multiple more reasonable pieces. `#[openapi( nest( (path = "/path/to/nest/api", api = path::to:NestableApi, tags = [...]) ) )] ` OpenAPI 3.1 only Since 5.0.0 utoipa will only support OpenAPI 3.1. This is due to nature of inlined schemas which does not adhere to discrimiantor and causes warnings with certain OpenAPI tooling for client generation. Declare all supported audio media types in the Rust OpenAPI annotation.

openapi.json is generated from crates/dictation/src/inbound/axum_router.rs. The annotation declares only audio/webm, although the route supports WebM, MP4, Ogg, and WAV. Use utoipa's multiple-content form with the same binary schema for each media type.

Roll back the ticket for capacity rejections.

RateLimitExtractor::from_request_parts increments the counter and returns a ticket. transcribe_handler ignores that ticket. When DictationService::transcribe returns DictationError::Busy, the handler returns 503 without rolling back the ticket. Repeated capacity rejections can consume the hourly quota without a transcription.

Call RateLimitService::rollback_ticket with _limit.rate_limit_success on the Busy branch only. Keep provider failures counted as documented.

Initialize the audio rate for an existing whisper-1 row.

ON CONFLICT DO NOTHING leaves price_per_audio_minute as NULL when whisper-1 already exists. PgUsageRepo::get_pricing then returns ModelPricing::Tokens. Price::compute rejects that pricing for UsageAmount::Audio, so upgraded deployments record dictation usage without a price.

Preserve an existing audio rate, but initialize the new column when it is null.

Dictation focus races inert clearing

Medium Severity

Confirm and cancel call onConfirm/onCancel in the same turn as reset('idle'), so composers still have inert on the editor when focus() runs. Focus is rejected, the dictation panel then unmounts, and focus drops to the document. Collapsible channel and chat composers can collapse immediately after a finished dictation, hiding the inserted transcript.

…async-openai Whisper

- Split crates/dictation into domain (models/ports/service), inbound
(axum router) and outbound (Whisper adapter) behind feature flags.
- Detect the audio container from the bytes with infer instead of
trusting the client Content-Type; LanguageHint newtype for the hint.
- Read OPENAI_API_KEY through a macro_env_var newtype and call Whisper
through async-openai (audio feature) with a bounded retry budget.
- Require a signed-in user (UserOnly) and rate limit each user to 60
transcriptions per hour with the shared rate_limit middleware.
- Move the DSS endpoint into the crate's inbound router; wire router
state, Redis limiter, and swagger schema in the composition root.
- Regenerate workspace-hack and dependency closures.

…t-driven tests

- Add AudioRecorder: constructed with the callbacks that receive levels,
the finished recording, limit, and errors; only one instance holds the
microphone at a time. Levels come from @solid-primitives/stream and
every MediaRecorder chunk advances both the timeline and the duration
cap, so the recorder has no timers.
- Primitives take a recorder factory instead of start-recording and
volume-meter functions; confirm() returns a promise that settles when
text is committed or the attempt is abandoned.
- Replace the 3s finish fallback with a second confirm that commits the
  words recognized so far.
- Rewrite tests around explicit recorder/recognizer events: no fake
  timers, advanceTimersByTime, or Promise.resolve flushes.

…test

The upload used a per-recording MutationObserver purely as a retry
scheduler, then opted out of every mutation feature to keep audio and
transcripts out of the cache. Replace it with a retry loop: same
capacity-only policy, same backoff and jitter, same cancellation, and the
recording is now structurally incapable of reaching a store.

The rate limit test asserted only that a fake returning Exceeded produces
a 429. Counting, windows, and rollback belong to the rate_limit crate's
own tests; what this adapter owns is the key and the allowance, which
nothing checked. Record both in the fake and assert users get separate
buckets — dropping the user id from the key now fails.
The rebase left sdk.gen.ts calling entityMessageReferences, an endpoint
that no longer exists on main, so the generated client referenced types
types.gen.ts does not define. Regenerating from the merged spec drops it
and restores the dictation exports.

Missing migration for audio billing columns

High Severity

Usage recording now reads and writes audio_seconds and price_per_audio_minute on ai_usage and ai_pricing, but no migration in the repo adds those columns or seeds whisper-1. get_pricing is used for every AI usage event, so a missing column would fail dictation billing and break usage recording across features.
