Summary

Bind Command Code restore requests to dedicated client-scoped URLs, including preview and fingerprint-bound restore. Older proxies reject these URLs; the CLI rejects redirects and never falls back to a generic restore. The management API checks the optional expected identity before profile delegation or mutation, refuses mismatched operations, and preserves generic unscoped restore behavior. Client-specific restore also rejects client/profile overrides.

Addresses the remaining restore-scope review on #6728. English/Korean usage documentation and the integration contract describe the resulting behavior.

Verification

  • CI follow-up: registered the client-bound Command Code restore/preview capabilities and regenerated the operating reference. This fixes the confirmed route-parity failure from run 37754725696 (test 4/4), without exempting routes or weakening the test. Capability/help/generated-reference tests: 106 pass, 0 fail; final typecheck passes. Final head: f61e177. CI 37757200772 subsequently exposed the independent chapter-group fixture missing this new root; updated that one fixture entry without changing any assertions. Both generated-skill files now pass all 23 tests and typecheck passes. Independent Sol review APPROVE for the final one-line delta at f61e177. New exact-head PR CI: run 37757663565, attempt 1, pending. Independent Sol delta review APPROVE at f3ddd45; no actionable findings. The earlier independent security/code approval covers the implementation through 806aeb; this review covers all subsequent metadata changes.

  • New regressions ran before the implementation: CLI 10 pass / 8 fail; management 5 pass / 26 fail. Production source hashes were unchanged during that baseline run.

  • After the final scoped-path fix: management integration routes 106 pass, Aside profile routes 38 pass, CLI integration preview 107 pass, route registry 21 pass (272 total), all with zero failures. Existing ZCode controls passed separately (13 cases); its implementation remains unchanged. Tests cover plain/preview/bound requests, invalid and unknown identities, foreign and Aside operations, drift confirmation, and unchanged config bytes/ownership/snapshots/journal on refusal.

  • bun run typecheck, bun run structure:check, bun run privacy:scan, and git diff --check passed. File-size ratchet: 9 pass. Docs build: 569 pages, 79,090 internal links, exit 0.

  • Full local suite deferred because parallel release lanes share the host; focused regression/control files ran, and exact-head PR CI plus final integrated release CI provide broader coverage. No personal client config or running proxy was used. Legacy-proxy regression uses an explicit response model, not a live old-proxy run; source inspection separately confirmed old POST paths return 404 before mutation.

  • Independent reviewer Beauvoir approved SECURITY and CODE at exact final head 806aeb8200c08693167c2a8d9c0cba8ec0f4d0a3. The earlier legacy-proxy finding is addressed by dedicated paths, path-derived identity, redirect refusal and no generic fallback. Hosted CI run 37754725696 is pending and will be checked before merge.

Maintainer integration evidence

The owner authorized finishing and releasing the 2.81.0 train, which includes this Command Code restore-ownership fix. I am choosing the dev-only maintainer-integration path under MAINTAINERS.md, separately from technical approval. Independent security/code review approved the implementation at 806aeb8; independent Sol reviews approved each later delta at f3ddd45 (capability metadata) and f61e177 (chapter fixture) with no findings. Cross-platform CI 37757663565, pull_request event, attempt 1, completed successfully at exact head f61e177290b469a673bea5f0db32c3fef6901cea, including all four test shards, gates, npm-global on Ubuntu and Windows, docker smoke and docs build. All review threads are resolved. Union check: git merge-tree --merge-base origin/dev of #6755 (f61e177) and #6756 (73ae2df) on dev 89cad95 composes cleanly; on that union tree, CLI capability/help/generated-reference and Command Code contract tests pass (145/0) and typecheck passes.

Checklist

  • Scope stays focused and avoids unrelated cleanup.
  • Docs or release notes were updated when needed.
  • Security-sensitive changes were reviewed for secrets, auth, and unsafe defaults. This preserves authenticated caller intent; it adds no local-process isolation claim.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Command Code restores now remain scoped to Command Code operations, including preview and plan-fingerprint requests. Client or profile overrides are rejected, and restores fail rather than falling back to a generic endpoint when the scoped path is unavailable.
    • Restore requests with an expected client identity now check that the operation belongs to that client. Generic journal restores remain available, and Aside operations continue to use their profile-specific commands.
  • Documentation
    • Updated integration guidance to explain restore options and which commands to use for Command Code, journal, and Aside operations.

Walkthrough

Command Code restore and preview requests now include an expected client identity and use dedicated client-specific paths. Management routes validate the identity against the operation before continuing. Generic restore requests without an identity retain their existing behavior.

Restore preview and restore routes validate an optional expected client identity against the operation. The route registry includes dedicated Command Code endpoints. Tests cover invalid identities, missing operations, client mismatches, successful restores, and unscoped compatibility. The documentation describes scoped and generic restore behavior.

- Line 299: Add a capability or minimum-version check in the restore request
flow before sending a request with expectedClientId; reject client-specific
restores when the proxy cannot enforce that scope. Do not rely on checking the
response receipt, since the restore may already have affected a foreign
operation.
