T3 update review: 0.1.3-nightly.20261026.3717 → 0.1.4-nightly.20261027.3770 (5 releases)

Needs you

  • Pick which renames to adopt (proposed edits below). T3 merged 18 MCP tools into a few tools that take an action (#25423). Three files still name tools that no longer exist:

    • shared skills/implement/PREVIEW.md
    • shared skills/code-review/SKILL.md
    • en-escena docs/agents/architecture-review.md

aldi's verification.md names one too. Each needs a one-line rename in its own PR; nothing else is blocked.

  • Merge the bookkeeping PR. It records the tool renames, where the settings pages moved, and the worktree-recovery change in the shared t3-dependencies.md. It also adds one path to changes.py.

Breaks / changes

  • shared · preview-tools-verification (skills/implement/PREVIEW.md step 4). #25423 replaces preview_click, preview_type, preview_hover, preview_select, preview_drag, preview_upload, preview_press and preview_scroll with one tool, preview_act. It takes action plus that action's fields.
    • Evidence: the tool says "Act on the chosen tab. Target with locator='aria-ref=<ref>' from preview_snapshot … click: button, clickCount 1 to 3. type: literal text, clear=true replaces it. … press: one key … to the focused element; click a field first to focus it."
    • Effect: step 4 sends the agent to four tools it can't find. A careful agent spots preview_act, but the step is the documented drive, and the trial counts its clicks.
    • Proposed edit to PREVIEW.md step 4: "Drive the flow with preview_act (action: click, type, select, press) and preview_navigate, targeting elements by the aria-ref refs of the latest preview_snapshot."
    • Dependency file (in this PR): evidence under the entry.
  • shared · delegate-task-reviews (skills/code-review/SKILL.md § Spawning a reviewer). t3_pending_request_list, _read and _respond are now one tool, t3_pending_request, with action: list | read | respond (#25423). The hasPendingQuestion description now reads "Answer via t3_pending_request on childThreadId".
    • Proposed edit to code-review SKILL.md lines 98–99: "read it with t3_pending_request (action: "read"), answer what the brief and the diff settle with action: "respond", and pass the rest to the user."
    • Dependency file (in this PR): the entry's Relies on names the new tool.
  • en-escena · scheduled-run-worktree. update_scheduled_task is gone. schedule_task with a scheduledTaskId updates that task instead ("only given fields change, enabled=false pauses it"; #25423).
    • The update still passes only prompt, title, schedule, enabled and bindToCurrentThread to the unchanged updateScheduledTask, so a prompt-only update still keeps the stored workspaceStrategy. The behaviour holds; only the name changed. One side effect: the update path no longer forwards filters.
    • Proposed edits (en-escena):
      • docs/agents/architecture-review.md:38: "update_scheduled_task tool" → "schedule_task tool with the task's scheduledTaskId".
      • docs/agents/t3-dependencies.md scheduled-run-worktree: the same rename in Relies on and Breaks if. The source citation becomes apps/server/src/mcp/toolkits/orchestrator/handlers.ts (schedule_task).
  • aldi · preview-file-upload. preview_upload is now preview_act with action: "upload": "absolute paths answer the file picker preview_status reports, [] cancels it, or a locator sets an ".
    • Proposed edits (aldi):
      • docs/agents/verification.md:24: "Drop a file with preview_act (action: "upload")".
      • t3-dependencies.md preview-file-upload: the same rename in Workaround, Would improve if and Watch.
  • shared · storage-cleanup-removes-thread-worktrees and storage-cleanup-orphan-folders. This meets a Breaks if condition ("the Last run report moves"), but only in name. #25651 regroups Settings:
    • "Storage becomes part of Maintenance (artifact and log cleanup) and Worktrees (worktree cleanup)", and old /settings/storage links redirect.
    • The cleanup rules are now under Settings → Worktrees → Cleanup.
    • The Last run report, with a reason for each kept worktree (CleanupResults → entry.reason), is now under Settings → Maintenance → Cleanup (MaintenanceSettingsPanel → StorageCleanupSections in StorageSettings.tsx).
    • The storageCleanup keys in settings.json are unchanged, so housekeeping step 1 still reads them.
    • Proposed edits:
      • shared skills/housekeeping/SKILL.md:9: "on the rules set in Settings → Worktrees → Cleanup, hourly, and its "Last run" (Settings → Maintenance)…".
      • en-escena scripts/worktree-sweep.ts:702: "Settings → Storage → Last run" → "Settings → Maintenance → Last run".
    • Dependency file (in this PR): both entries name the new pages.

Fixes / ready

None. Every watched issue and discussion is still open: #17889, #17813 with its fix PR #22805, #11078, and discussions 24108, 18047, 23245 and 23305.

Improves

  • shared · storage-cleanup-removes-thread-worktrees (evidence in this PR). #18359: "A thread whose managed worktree was deleted can start its next turn again. Recovery reuses an existing local thread branch, or recreates a deleted branch from the project's current named branch."
    • Before this build, a thread whose worktree and branch were both gone could never run another turn.
    • Now it resumes, but against the project's current code, without its old commits. So a live thread's branch must still never be deleted. housekeeping already judges branches by the live thread; no skill change.
  • shared · pr-linked-by-tool (evidence in this PR). When a delegated child calls link_pull_request, the result now carries next: "End your reply with: PR , head , checks and reviews ." (#25423). Our implementers open no PRs, so nothing changes.
  • shared, no entry: cheaper T3 threads. Tool schemas shrank by a third (65,789 → 43,175 characters) and the tool count went from 84 to 66 (#25423). Every T3 thread, reviewers' included, now starts with less context. Nothing to adopt.
  • Checked, nothing to change:
    • Injected instructions (orchestrationInstructions.ts): "you wait in this turn" became "it finishes in this turn"; orchestrator_capabilities is "once per thread"; "or to run fewer, task_cancel the extras"; and "Answer data with a trend or comparison with a chart" (#25766). agents/models.md and code-review already match.
    • background-subagents-keep-t3-tools: OrchestratorMcpService.ts only exported taskPrompt, and threadAccess.ts is unchanged, so the mechanism holds.
    • scheduled-reviews: creating a task with schedule_task is unchanged, and prompt and schedule are still required for a new task. ScheduledTaskService.ts and Schedule.ts are unchanged; the settings page only renamed its Connections link.
    • auto-pull-default: the user docs still say "Source control contains automatic pull".
    • t3_thread_update no longer mentions linking a PR. We link with link_pull_request.
    • redesignEnabled was dropped from client settings, and the fx provider (#18277) is disabled by default. We use neither.
    • rubens, enescena, pcp: setup scripts, cleanup and hooks are untouched. pcp's preview-odoo-login cites preview_open and preview_snapshot, which kept their names.

Drift

  • WATCHED_PATHS (fixed in this PR). scheduled-missed-runs cites apps/server/src/scheduledTasks/Schedule.ts, which changes.py did not watch. It is added now; the file didn't change in this range.
  • The proposals above cover every remaining name of a removed tool or moved page in the shared skills and the projects. Every other Used by file and heading still exists on each default branch.

Not covered

  • infra (~/.t3/projects/infra): no docs/agents/t3-dependencies.md on any branch.

Still ready

  • preview-tools-verification: step one is being adopted; captures come from preview_snapshot. Step two, dropping the browser CLI, waits for ten PRs with no lost click.

Method:

  • I triaged the 90 release items by title down to 9 and read the PR bodies of #25423, #25651 and #18359.
  • I read all 1,305 lines of watched.diff myself, so no miners.
  • I checked the new settings pages in T3 source at 7c3b3b3605ef.
  • I grepped the shared repo and all five project repos, on their default branches, for every removed tool name and old settings path.

Record T3's merged action tools (preview_act, t3_pending_request,
schedule_task updates), the settings regroup that moved Storage, and
worktree recovery after a deleted branch. Watch Schedule.ts in changes.py.
