05. Paragraph reading task
Next, subjects were instructed to complete a phonetically-balanced paragraph reading task (60 seconds). The four paragraphs used in this task included the caterpillar passage, the grandfather passage, the rainbow passage, and the North Wind and the Sun passage from Aesop’s Fables. These tasks were designed to be phonetically-balanced and most of these passages (except the North Wind and the Sun passage) have been used as standard protocol in other [speech and language biomarker]-related studies. Subjects were not able to stop the timer early and had to speak for the entire 60 seconds.
