The problem: otelhttp v0.65.0 has a known deadlock bug (upstream issue #8524) that breaks containerd's pipe-based push body. The containerd v1.7.30 → v1.7.31 dependabot bump triggered MVS to re-resolve otelhttp from v0.63.0 → v0.65.0, exposing the bug.
The fix: pinned otelhttp to v0.68.0 (which contains the fix from PR #8618).
Tests run and things appear back to working order.
