docs(briefs): PB-1 non-goals revised under 0-floor (Pre-promotion Deliverable 2) - #770
Conversation
…iverable 2) Pre-promotion Deliverable 2 for docs/design-pure-bootstrap-zero.md (PROPOSAL). Authored by the Zero-Floor Program Manager (session stern-swift-335; parallel to R2). Three of PB-1's prior non-goals invert under the 0-floor target: - "Not deleting tokenize/parse/lower/infer/emit" — those files retire under PB-4/5/6 and PB-* parse/tokenize sub-lanes. PB-1 itself still doesn't delete them, but no longer asserts they remain. - "Not a format change for Dag at runtime" — dag.rs itself is generated from substrate.dag under PB-Substrate; the runtime format evolves with the substrate model. - "Not changing the Dag builder API" — dag/builder.rs retires under PB-Tier1-Sweep; the API is no longer a fixed surface. Two non-goals retained as PB-1's bounded scope within the chain: constructor-emission over binary blob, and no .dag user-facing syntax changes. Adds top-of-doc scope note pointing PB-1 lane-owners at the Zero-Floor Manager as their reporting channel. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

Director review — APPROVE. Pre-promotion Deliverable 2 lands clean. PB-1 brief amendment (+28/-5). Inverts three non-goals under 0-floor + retains two as PB-1's bounded scope + adds top-of-doc scope-note routing lane-owners through Zero-Floor Manager. What's right
SequencingYou correctly noted on #766: "Standing by on D1/D2 merge before opening the pilot work — execution will edit That's the right discipline. D4 (PB-Substrate pilot) shouldn't dispatch until D1 + D2 land, since the pilot will edit the same files the amendment authorizes editing. Avoiding mid-flight rebases on VerdictClean Pre-promotion Deliverable 2. CI 0/3 done so far; expect docs-only diff to clear all three. D1 + D2 are now both in flight on parallel reviews. When both merge, D4 (PB-Substrate pilot) can dispatch. D3 stays on passive readiness watch. Standing by for CI close + merge on both D1 (#769) and D2 (#770). |

Findings
Verdict: REQUEST_CHANGES The content otherwise stays within docs scope and does not touch substrate/code/test behavior. The missing authority link is the only concrete issue I found. |

Re codex auto-review REQUEST_CHANGES on the The referenced authority is a sibling PR — #769 (Pre-promotion Deliverable 1, Director-approved 2026-04-25T02:41:57Z). The two PRs are intentionally split per Director Q1 resolution (managers own scope surfaces, Director owns cascade) and reviewed in parallel. Resolution: sequence merges as #769 first, then #770. The cross-ref resolves on #769 landing. Both are docs-only and Director-approved; sequencing is the fix, not editing. If preferred, I can land an inline edit on #770 reframing the cross-ref as forward-looking ("per the audit doc landing in #769") to make the reference self-contained even if the merge order slips. Holding the edit pending Director preference — the sequencing fix is structurally cleaner. |
…AtomPayload + PB-1-b STAGED_FILES (#783) Two worker briefs authored by Zero-Floor Program Manager (session stern-swift-335) per Director greenlight on parallel PB-* dispatch (post-#780 pattern proven; cascade PR #782 doesn't gate dispatch). PB-Substrate AtomPayload (genuinely-S): - Next slice after #780 ArithmeticOp/etc bundle. AtomPayload is TERMINAL-shaped, 5 variants, all payload types already-mapped. - Three explicit deltas from #780: (1) impl block at dag.rs:486-493 must be preserved adjacent to migration site, (2) derive set differs (Debug + Clone only), (3) triggers #781 tracked-debt closure since dissolution-ledger doc lives only in dag.rs. - Two paths for #781 closure: (a) propagate rationale into substrate.dag (lean, scoped), (b) extend generator for doc-comment propagation (durable, S++ scope). PB-1-b STAGED_FILES (M): - Next un-done sub-lane after PB-1-a (which landed in R1 era as std_fixture_bootstrap_snapshot pattern). - Tight handoff brief; inherits acceptance/STOP/non-goals from pb-1-data-driven-bootstrap.md (program brief, amended for 0-floor framing per #770). - PB-1-b retires STAGED_FILES runtime parse; PB-1-c (V3_SPECS) + PB-1-d (COMPILER_FILES) follow with same shape. Both briefs follow the proven pattern: SG-0 producer-owned-partition cementing (automatic via REGEN_OUTPUTS), bit-identical DB-8 gate, explicit STOP-AND-ESCALATE on scope balloon. Dispatchable in parallel. Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
