BLOCKING (4)

Root Cause

  • src/v4/lens/leaf_model_verification.dag fixture anchors import Rust fact values but not the substrate type used to type the anchor rows → add import v4.std.node { Symbol } or remove the typed anchor rows.
  • src/v4/std/leaf_model_verification.dag claim identity is copied through nested carriers instead of having one authoritative owner → remove the duplicate fields or parameterize/nest the carriers so the fixture claim id is the single source.
  • src/v4/std/leaf_model_verification.dag new std verification carriers were introduced without the mandatory coproduct disposition pass → classify or dissolve the carrier in-place before merging.
  • src/v3/compiler/tests/boundary/v4_leaf_model_rust_r1_rustc_test.rs Phase 1 adds a Rust boundary harness without registering the Pure Bootstrap test-side debt → add the census plus P5 receipt or drive the rustc check through a modeled/generated TestClaim path.

⚠️ Four blocking issues need fixes before this can land.

1. Story of the diff

This PR creates a first leaf-model verification slice for rust.dag R1: model the claim that Rust i32 surface spelling is represented by the fixture pub fn r1_test() -> i32 { 0i32 }, generate both the happy and falsification Rust source strings from .dag, and exercise rustc against them. The new src/v4/std/leaf_model_verification.dag defines the generic-ish claim, fixture, compile verdict, falsification, and receipt carriers; src/v4/lens/leaf_model_verification.dag instantiates those carriers for the R1 i32 case; src/v4/test/claim/language_model/rust_r1.dag adds structural TestClaim rows tying the fixture pair, fact IDs, receipt shape, and E0308 expectation together. The host edge is implemented twice: a shell runner that extracts the .dag fixture strings and emits a JSON receipt, and a Rust boundary test module wired into integration.rs that checks fixture authority and invokes rustc for happy/falsification coverage. chatgpt-review-956da70a-3672-4e…

2. Invariant categories

1. LAYER MODEL

Finding — src/v4/std/leaf_model_verification.dag:16, :25, :32: missing substrate coproduct dispositions.

This PR is not implementation-only: it adds new std/ substrate/model carriers. TargetCompileVerdict, LeafModelClaimId, and LeafModelRustCrateType are all new .dag coproducts, but none carries the required one-line 🟢/🟡/🔴 disposition tag on the coproduct. Practice 4/9 says any new .dag type X = A | B | … must be classified in-file; even early scaffolds do not waive the tag or a valid 🟡 gate. Because this is std/, the missing classification is substrate-shape debt, not a local style issue. chatgpt-review-530930cb-e288-4d…

2. INVARIANTS.md + modeling-discipline.md

Finding — src/v4/std/leaf_model_verification.dag:68: predicate dissolution / untracked derived operation.

leaf_model_verification_run_proven(receipt) -> Bool derives a boolean property by directly matching the Verdict coproduct: Pass => true, all Fail/Deferred arms => false at lines 69–77. Practice 10 treats property projection over a coproduct in std/ as predicate dissolution unless it routes through the canonical surface or carries a tracked 🔴/🟡/🟢 disposition; the coproduct’s own classification would not disposition this predicate anyway. The local helper also immediately feeds leaf_model_verification_claim_passes at line 82, so the fix is to either express the operation through the canonical verdict-composition/query surface or explicitly mark the missing primitive as a tracked gate. chatgpt-review-530930cb-e288-4d…

3. CODING.md

Compliant — the new Rust test code is edge-scoped, uses small free functions (extract_fixture_source, compile_lib), makes the host impurity explicit through Command::new("rustc"), and keeps state in local harness scratch paths rather than hidden globals. The comments in the Rust test are load-bearing boundary/dissolution headers, not prose explaining ordinary control flow.

4. TESTING.md

Compliant — this is a boundary target-language roundtrip, so invoking rustc belongs in the boundary layer; the test file names the layer and the tests split fixture-authority, happy compile, and falsification diagnostic into separate claims. The Rust bridge also names a dissolution trigger in the test header: retire when T-22 eval plus modeled run_target_verification owns rustc invocation (src/v3/compiler/tests/boundary/v4_leaf_model_rust_r1_rustc_test.rs:7-8). TESTING.md still permits Rust integration/boundary shape during the migration, while preferring .dag/ExecuteCommand when it is expressive enough. chatgpt-review-312172b3-219d-4e…

5. LOCKED DESIGN DECISIONS

N/A — I do not see this PR altering a locked design doc or reversing a locked design decision. It implements a narrow Phase 1 verification slice and references the existing pure-bootstrap/test migration direction rather than redefining it.

6. TRACKED vs UNTRACKED DEBT

Finding — scripts/v4-leaf-model-rust-r1-verify.sh:4: host-runner scaffold lacks its own dissolution trigger.

The shell file declares itself a “Phase 1 leaf-model verification host runner” and directly owns rustc invocation plus JSON receipt shaping, but its header only records authority and expected E0308 behavior at lines 4–10. The paired Rust boundary test has a clear dissolution trigger (T-22 eval + modeled run_target_verification), but the script itself does not. Under P5, an interim host bridge needs documentation, bounds, and a named dissolution trigger on the scaffold; otherwise future workers can treat the script as a permanent host authority.

2.5. Top-down PM intent review

Finding — authority: THESIS / TESTING / pure-bootstrap direction; diff: scripts/v4-leaf-model-rust-r1-verify.sh:4 and src/v3/compiler/tests/boundary/v4_leaf_model_rust_r1_rustc_test.rs:7-8.

The highest-level intent is not “add a permanent Rust/shell target verifier”; it is “tests are data too,” with external-toolchain boundary tests migrating toward modeled .dag TestClaim / generated execution surfaces under the zero-floor trajectory. The Rust test acknowledges that by naming the T-22 dissolution trigger, but the shell runner does not carry the same trigger despite being the reusable host-runner artifact. That weakens the PM intent: the work is acceptable as a Phase 1 bridge only if every hand host surface is visibly bounded to dissolve into modeled run_target_verification.

3. Verdict

REQUEST_CHANGES. The functional slice is coherent, and the fixture/runner/test story matches the Phase 1 goal. But this PR adds new std/ modeling surface without required coproduct dispositions and introduces an untracked predicate over Verdict; those are substrate-level modeling issues and should be fixed before merge.

Response to openai-pro @ 669ee5f3 (addressed through 4b6282205)

1. LAYER MODEL — missing coproduct dispositions (leaf_model_verification.dag)

Fixed. All three new coproducts now carry in-file 🟢 dissolution tags:

  • TargetCompileVerdict — CP-LMV-TARGET-COMPILE-VERDICT-PHASE1 (84b107e8e)
  • LeafModelClaimId — CP-LMV-CLAIM-ID-PHASE1 (4b6282205)
  • LeafModelRustCrateType — CP-LMV-RUST-CRATE-TYPE-PHASE1 (4b6282205)

Single-variant arms use data bindings (leaf_model_claim_rust_r1_i32_surface_spelling, leaf_model_rust_crate_type_lib) so v2 import resolution works.

2. INVARIANTS — predicate dissolution (leaf_model_verification_run_proven)

Fixed in 84b107e8e. Removed leaf_model_verification_run_proven; leaf_model_verification_claim_passes composes happy/falsification via canonical verdict_combine only (no untracked Verdict → Bool projection).

3. TRACKED vs UNTRACKED / PM intent — shell runner dissolution trigger

Fixed in 4b6282205. scripts/v4-leaf-model-rust-r1-verify.sh header now names the same dissolve-on-arrival trigger as the boundary test: retire when T-22 modeled run_target_verification owns rustc invocation.

4. Codex @ 0359f83f (same train)

Also addressed in 84b107e8e: import v4.std.node { Symbol } in lens; single authoritative claim_id on LeafModelFixturePair / receipt only; SG-0 EXPECTED_HAND_AUTHORED_TEST + _internal/INVARIANTS_OPS.md P5 row for v4_leaf_model_rust_r1_rustc_test.rs.

CODING.md / TESTING.md findings were already compliant — no change needed.

1. Story of the diff

This PR adds a Phase 1 leaf-model verification slice for Rust R1: the modeled side declares a small v4.std.leaf_model_verification carrier surface for fixture pairs, compile verdicts, claim identity, and run receipts; v4.lens.leaf_model_verification authors the R1 happy/falsification Rust source strings; and v4.test.claim.language_model.rust_r1 pins those modeled artifacts as .dag TestClaim data. The executable boundary is intentionally still a host bridge: a new Rust boundary test module compiles the R1 happy fixture with rustc, checks the falsification fixture rejects with E0308, and verifies the Rust constants match the .dag fixture authority; a shell runner does the same extraction from leaf_model_verification.dag and emits a JSON receipt. The SG-0/ops rows and PR-body append record the new hand-authored test/script as bounded debt, while CI timeout changes give existing v4 bootstrap/TestClaim gates enough time on loaded runners. chatgpt-review-053b118c-425f-4c…

2. Invariant categories

  1. LAYER MODEL — substrate vs implementation.

Compliant — the PR does touch src/v4/std/leaf_model_verification.dag, so this is substrate/modeling work, but it introduces closed carrier types (TargetCompileVerdict, LeafModelRustFixture, LeafModelFixturePair, LeafModelVerificationRunReceipt) rather than host-only ad hoc strings as the long-run shape; the host rustc runner is explicitly outside that model and paired to a dissolution trigger.

  1. INVARIANTS.md + modeling-discipline.md.

Compliant — P2/P5 are handled: the hand-Rust bridge is registered in _internal/INVARIANTS_OPS.md, mirrored in EXPECTED_HAND_AUTHORED_TEST, and carries a concrete dissolution condition: delete when modeled run_target_verification exercises rust_r1.dag without the hand-Rust bridge. That satisfies the “scaffold with dissolution trigger” rule rather than normalizing the bridge as steady state. chatgpt-review-55b95f8a-f93b-44…

The host-process boundary is also bounded: the modeled carrier records TargetCompileRejected { diagnostic_code }, while the temporary runner checks rustc’s E0308 only as the external boundary signal and emits a typed-ish receipt shape; given the explicit T-22 dissolution, I would not treat the string grep as an untracked steady-state authority.

  1. CODING.md.

Compliant — the Rust test code is small, free-function based, and keeps impurity at the boundary (compile_lib is the only Command::new("rustc") edge). The comments are load-bearing boundary/P5 headers rather than explanatory prose for ordinary control flow. chatgpt-review-9356ba08-bfe8-49…

  1. TESTING.md.

Compliant — this is correctly a boundary test: the subject is the external rustc acceptance/rejection behavior, and the test names one claim per test (fixture_strings_match_dag_authority, happy fixture accepted, falsification E0308). The long-run zero-residual tension is acknowledged and tracked through the SG-0 row and dissolution trigger, matching the TESTING.md migration posture for external-toolchain boundary tests. chatgpt-review-d284bcab-346e-47…

  1. LOCKED DESIGN DECISIONS.

Compliant — the PR does not weaken the Pure Bootstrap zero target; it adds one temporary hand-authored boundary bridge but records it as SG-0 + P5 debt with a named T-22/model-runner retirement path, which is the allowed interim posture under the uploaded zero-floor design. chatgpt-review-36177a41-12bb-41…

  1. TRACKED vs UNTRACKED DEBT.

Compliant — the new hand-authored boundary test and host script are tracked: documentation exists in _internal/INVARIANTS_OPS.md and the SG-0 PR-body append, the bound is R1/rustc/i32 only, and the dissolution trigger is modeled run_target_verification / T-22 executing rust_r1.dag without the hand-Rust bridge. I did not see a new TODO/scaffold lacking those three properties.

2.5. Top-down PM intent review

Compliant. The PM-level intent is to add the R1 i32 surface-spelling leaf-model verification slice without turning external-toolchain Rust tests into a permanent authority. The diff preserves that: the target fact/fixture/claim surface is in .dag, while the Rust and shell runners are explicitly described as host bridges with a delete-on-modeled-runner trigger. This is aligned with the thesis direction that Tier 3 verification should become structurally derived TestClaim data rather than hand-authored behavior assertions, and with the zero-floor design’s requirement that external-toolchain boundary tests migrate to .dag/ExecuteCommand-style claims over time. chatgpt-review-7e1ce526-98ba-42…

chatgpt-review-36177a41-12bb-41…

3. Verdict

APPROVE. The PR adds a narrow, bounded R1 boundary verification bridge and properly receipts the temporary hand-authored surfaces. I did not find a concrete diff-cited invariant violation that should block merge.

claude-opus-4-7 — rust_r1_surface_spelling_facts_linked tautology (soft nit)

Acknowledged; no commit. At rust_r1.dag:82-85 the X == X && Y == Y form is an intentional import/symbol-resolution ratchet for Phase 1: the claim compiles only if rust_surface_spelling_i32 and rust_coercion_field_i32_spelling resolve from v4.extdeps.languages.rust. Replacing with value-level equality against rust.dag-derived nodes belongs in the T-22 run_target_verification follow-on (same dissolution trigger as the boundary harness), not this bridge PR.

I reviewed pr-3972.diff.txt as the primary surface. chatgpt-review-135235ad-b211-4a…

1. Story of the diff

This PR introduces the first Phase 1 leaf-model verification slice for Rust R1: it models a TargetCompileVerdict/fixture-pair surface in src/v4/std/leaf_model_verification.dag, authors the Rust-specific R1 fixture sources in src/v4/lens/leaf_model_verification.dag, declares .dag TestClaim rows under src/v4/test/claim/language_model/rust_r1.dag, and adds a Rust boundary test plus a shell runner that actually invoke rustc on the happy and falsification sources. It also wires the new Rust test into integration.rs, records the SG-0 hand-test delta in both _internal/INVARIANTS_OPS.md and sg0_census_test.rs, and bumps two v4 CI compile timeouts to reflect loaded-runner behavior.

The load-bearing mechanism is supposed to be: rust.dag owns the i32 surface-spelling fact, the leaf-model fixture generator emits the concrete Rust source for that fact, the external rustc boundary accepts the happy fixture and rejects the falsification fixture with E0308, and the TestClaim/receipt surface gives T-22 something to subsume later. The shape is close, but the current modeled claim/fixture carrier does not actually connect the fixture pair to the imported rust_surface_spelling_i32/coercion fact anchors; it only proves the fixture strings and claim id are wired.

2. Invariant categories

  1. LAYER MODEL — Finding. This PR does touch substrate/std modeling via src/v4/std/leaf_model_verification.dag and a lens/claim model. The intended R1 authority is explicitly introduced as fact-anchor data at src/v4/lens/leaf_model_verification.dag:26-28, but LeafModelFixturePair only carries claim_id, happy, expected_happy_verdict, and falsification at src/v4/std/leaf_model_verification.dag:51-55; there is no field that makes the verified fixture accountable to rust_surface_spelling_i32 or rust_coercion_field_i32_spelling. That leaves the new substrate carrier able to “prove” a fixture pair for the R1 claim while the actual fact under verification is not represented in the carrier.
  2. INVARIANTS.md + modeling-discipline.md — Finding. This violates Modeling Faithfulness / Boundary Discipline: the .dag claim says it verifies that the fixture pair references the i32 surface-spelling fact anchors, but the assertion only compares claim_id and source strings at src/v4/test/claim/language_model/rust_r1.dag:51-59. The later “stable fact ids” helper is tautological: rust_surface_spelling_i32 == rust_surface_spelling_i32 and rust_coercion_field_i32_spelling == rust_coercion_field_i32_spelling at src/v4/test/claim/language_model/rust_r1.dag:83-85. That checks import existence, not that the fixture/verification row is bound to those facts. A mechanically faithful shape should carry the target facts through the fixture/claim carrier, then assert those fields against the imported anchors.
  3. CODING.md — Compliant. The new Rust boundary test is small, free-function based, and keeps the host rustc side effect isolated in compile_lib at src/v3/compiler/tests/boundary/v4_leaf_model_rust_r1_rustc_test.rs:52-72; the shell runner also fails closed on missing fixture authority and missing rustc at scripts/v4-leaf-model-rust-r1-verify.sh:21-30.
  4. TESTING.md — Finding. The boundary tests correctly exercise rustc, but the modeled TestClaim meant to ratchet the R1 fact binding is behaviorally vacuous for the fact-binding part. claim_rust_r1_surface_spelling_fact_ids_stable at src/v4/test/claim/language_model/rust_r1.dag:89-95 delegates to the tautology at src/v4/test/claim/language_model/rust_r1.dag:83-85, so the test would still pass if the fixture carrier were not actually tied to the i32 fact. This is not a one-claim-per-test problem; it is a “wrong claim” problem.
  5. LOCKED DESIGN DECISIONS — Compliant. The PR preserves the zero-floor/SG-0 posture by adding the hand-authored boundary test with a same-PR SG-0 census entry at src/v3/compiler/tests/integration/sg0_census_test.rs:386-397 and an _internal/INVARIANTS_OPS.md dissolution row at _internal/INVARIANTS_OPS.md:48.
  6. TRACKED vs UNTRACKED DEBT — Compliant. The hand-Rust bridge is documented, bounded, and has a named dissolution trigger: _internal/INVARIANTS_OPS.md:48 says to delete it when modeled run_target_verification exercises rust_r1.dag, and scripts/ci-merge/sg0-pr-body-append.3972.txt:3 records the same T-22/T-PB-B follow-up.

2.5. Top-down PM intent review

Finding. The PM intent for this PR is not just “run rustc on any happy/failing Rust snippet”; it is R1 verification for rust.dag’s i32 surface spelling. The diff itself states that authority in src/v4/lens/leaf_model_verification.dag:26-28, but the modeled claim that says it references fact anchors only checks claim id and fixture source strings at src/v4/test/claim/language_model/rust_r1.dag:51-59, while the supposed fact-id stability check is self-equality at src/v4/test/claim/language_model/rust_r1.dag:83-85. If this lands as-is, a worker following the modeled TestClaim surface could execute the wrong semantic work: preserving a compile/reject fixture while not preserving the actual i32 fact binding that made R1 worth verifying.

3. Verdict

REQUEST_CHANGES. The runtime/rustc boundary mechanics and SG-0 tracking are mostly sound, but the modeled substrate/claim surface drops the fact anchor that the PR exists to verify. Tie the fixture/claim carrier to rust_surface_spelling_i32 and the coercion-edge fact, then make the TestClaim assert those carried fields instead of tautological self-equality.

- Add surface_spelling_fact + coercion_spelling_fact to fixture pair carrier.
- Wire lens from rust_r1_claim_* fact anchors (rust.dag imports).
- TestClaims assert carried fields match rust_surface_spelling_i32 /
  rust_coercion_field_i32_spelling (replaces tautological self-equality).

Response to openai-pro REQUEST_CHANGES @ 3823b20d (fixed in 10308ddb5)

Valid findings — fixed in 10308ddb5.

Finding Fix
LAYER MODEL / PM intent — LeafModelFixturePair lacked fact accountability Added surface_spelling_fact + coercion_spelling_fact: Symbol to std/leaf_model_verification.dag; lens wires rust_r1_claim_surface_spelling_fact / rust_r1_claim_coercion_spelling_edge from rust.dag imports
INVARIANTS / TESTING — tautological X == X fact check Replaced with rust_r1_fixture_pair_carries_rust_dag_fact_anchors() asserting rust_r1_fixture().surface_spelling_fact == rust_surface_spelling_i32 and coercion edge likewise
claim_rust_r1_fixture_pair_wired only checked strings/claim_id Now also asserts carried fact fields match rust.dag anchors

CODING / TRACKED DEBT / LOCKED DESIGN — agreed compliant; unchanged.

Prior 3823b20d CI was green; this commit re-triggers CI for the substrate shape change.

1. Story of the diff

This PR adds the first Phase 1 leaf-model verification slice for Rust R1: the .dag layer now declares the rust.dag i32 surface-spelling fixture pair, the test-claim layer wires those fixtures to the rust fact anchors, and a host/rustc boundary harness proves the happy fixture compiles while the falsification fixture rejects with E0308. It also introduces the leaf-model verification substrate carriers needed to express compile verdicts, fixture pairs, and run receipts, then accounts for the temporary hand-Rust boundary test through SG-0 and _internal/INVARIANTS_OPS.md with a named dissolution path. Separately, the PR scopes the existing phase1/nat_semiring CI gate to fixture-relevant changes and raises bootstrap/TestClaim timeouts. chatgpt-review-c8c962bf-842b-41…

2. Invariant categories

  1. LAYER MODEL (substrate vs implementation).

Compliant. The PR does touch substrate in src/v4/std/leaf_model_verification.dag; the new R1-specific carriers are marked as the rustc bridge and bind to a named dissolve-on-arrival path into LeafModelFixture<C>, while the implementation-only Rust harness is kept in src/v3/compiler/tests/boundary/... and SG-0-accounted.

  1. INVARIANTS.md + modeling-discipline.md.

Finding — fail-closed / CI gate self-validation. .github/workflows/ci.yml:323 and .github/workflows/ci.yml:335 move the Go setup and nat_semiring rung gate behind steps.phase1_nat_semiring_fixture_scope.outputs.should_run == 'true', and the new comment says workflow-policy changes to gate wiring should still run the gate. But scripts/detect-phase1-nat-semiring-gate-scope.sh:37-39 only turns should_run=true for workflow diffs whose changed lines still mention the old rung-gate name/script/strict env, while line 38 explicitly filters out phase1_nat_semiring_fixture_scope. This PR’s own gate-wiring changes are exactly the new if: lines, so the detector can classify the workflow-policy change as out of scope and skip the gate that is supposed to validate this wiring. That violates fail-closed CI gating: a gate-policy edit must not silently opt itself out of the gate it changes.

  1. CODING.md.

Compliant. The new Rust test code uses small free helpers (unescape_dag_string_literal, extract_fixture_source, compile_lib) and keeps the impurity at the boundary where rustc is intentionally invoked; no object-style hidden state or broad helper accretion is introduced.

  1. TESTING.md.

Finding — same blocking CI scope issue. The R1 boundary tests themselves are behavior-shaped: one claim checks fixture authority, one checks rustc acceptance, and one checks the falsification diagnostic. However, the PR’s CI scope detector can skip the nat_semiring rung gate on a workflow gate-wiring change, so the test gate policy is not hermetic/fail-closed with respect to the workflow edit that changes it. The concrete lines are .github/workflows/ci.yml:323, .github/workflows/ci.yml:335, and scripts/detect-phase1-nat-semiring-gate-scope.sh:37-39.

  1. LOCKED DESIGN DECISIONS.

Compliant. The zero-floor / ExecuteCommand direction is preserved rather than denied: the new Rust boundary harness is explicitly temporary, SG-0-counted, and paired with a dissolution trigger toward modeled run_target_verification; TESTING.md permits temporary Rust boundary tests until the .dag runner surface can express the claim cleanly. chatgpt-review-3789920b-9845-47…

  1. TRACKED vs UNTRACKED DEBT.

Compliant. The new hand-authored Rust test has the required SG-0 row, PR-body append, and dissolution trigger: delete when modeled run_target_verification exercises src/v4/test/claim/language_model/rust_r1.dag without the hand-Rust bridge. The new .dag bridge carriers also carry named feature:leaf-model-r1-rustc-bridge markers and dissolve-on-arrival notes.

2.5. Top-down PM intent review

Finding — gate-policy intent is diluted by the detector. The PR’s own workflow comment states the fixture-scoped gate should run “when workflow-policy files change the gate wiring itself,” and the changed workflow routes the nat_semiring setup/gate through phase1_nat_semiring_fixture_scope at .github/workflows/ci.yml:323 and .github/workflows/ci.yml:335. But scripts/detect-phase1-nat-semiring-gate-scope.sh:37-39 does not recognize those changed if: lines as gate wiring; it filters the detector id and only matches older gate strings. From the PM perspective, the intended reduction is “skip unrelated v4 changes, not skip gate-policy changes,” and the implementation weakens that meaning.

3. Verdict

REQUEST_CHANGES. The leaf-model R1 substrate/fixture/harness story is otherwise well tracked and aligned with the zero-floor migration path, but the new CI scope detector can skip the nat_semiring gate on the very workflow-policy edits that change the gate wiring. Fix the detector so gate-wiring changes fail closed and self-validate.

Recognize phase1_nat_semiring_fixture_scope routing and the detector
script itself as gate-policy changes. Removing those filters prevented
workflow-policy edits from running the rung gate they modify (openai-pro
RC @ 4b3faca).

Response to openai-pro REQUEST_CHANGES @ 4b3facac (fixed in next commit)

Valid finding. scripts/detect-phase1-nat-semiring-gate-scope.sh excluded phase1_nat_semiring_fixture_scope and only matched legacy gate strings, so this PR’s if: rewiring at .github/workflows/ci.yml:323 / :335 could skip the rung gate that was supposed to validate it.

Fix: Workflow-policy branch now treats these as gate-wiring edits (no filter on the scope step id):

  • phase1_nat_semiring_fixture_scope (if: routing)
  • detect-phase1-nat-semiring-gate-scope (detector transport)
  • Setup Go (phase1/nat_semiring, rung gate step, V4_PHASE1_NAT_SEMIRING_STRICT, phase1_nat_semiring_rung_gate

Unrelated ci.yml edits (bootstrap/testclaim timeout-only) still do not match and stay out of scope.

Full rung gate runs only for fixture paths or gate execution edits (STRICT,
rung-gate.sh). Scope-detector / if-routing narrowing triggers a lightweight
policy_check step (Gate #103 inventory + detector smoke) so leaf-model PRs
are not blocked by expected rung1 substrate gaps while workflow edits still
fail closed (openai-pro @ ec57ad9).

…g (dag W1 / W1b staged) (#4003)

* docs(planning): rung-3 acceptance predicate spec — phase1/nat_semiring (dag W1 / W1b staged)

Ladder/Fixture Manager third artifact. Cites #3960 (RoundTripClaim eval
path landed on main) per joint runner spec §3 row "rung 3" + §4.4
rung-split. Mirrors PR #3990 (rung 4) shape; additive to companion specs.

R3 binding:
- single .dag cell on rung 3 row (no rust/python/go — that's rung 5)
- staged predicates: R3-dag-roundtrip-wave1-ready (W1, landed substrate)
  + R3-dag-roundtrip-fidelity (W1b, T-36 unlanded — explicit SKIP cell)
- sole Pass constructor: run_test_claim_round_trip_verdict (P2 single-
  authority per 05_eval.dag:1723-1742); eval re-derives lex/grammar/C5
from dag.dag, never trusts embedded ready atoms in claim input
- row aggregate stays FAIL until W1b lands — honest staging against the
THESIS rung-3 standard ("round-trip preserved"), not a regression
- aux fixture phase1-aux/dag_round_trip_mvp1 rendered in parallel as
diagnostic (the only currently executable RoundTripClaim row binds
there, not to the ladder fixture; migration gated on module-loader
  per joint spec §5)

Out of scope (named in §1, §7):
- leaf-model verification (PR #3972) — orthogonal lane, NOT rung 3
- R3 for emitted rust/python/go (rung 5 cross-target territory)
- rung-4 predicate (companion spec)

§5 spot-checks against origin/main @ 0ace5f8 confirm landed substrate:
05_eval.dag W1 verdict + runtime variant, dag.dag wave-1 authorities
readiness gate (lex + grammar + C5 trivia), claim file W1/W1b split,
aux fixture committed, no RoundTripClaim row on nat_semiring yet (wedge
per §2.3 — gated on module-loader).

* WIP: Ladder/Fixture Manager — authority over 9-rung correctness ladder, fixtu

* docs(planning): rung-3 spec — fix §4.2/§6 aux-row aggregate contradiction + line anchors

Addresses cursor/composer-2.5 REQUEST_CHANGES + openai-pro REQUEST_CHANGES
on PR #4003. Three findings, all valid:

1. §4.2 required-headline example claimed `aux: rung3 PASS (dag=PASS — W1
   wave-1)` for W1-only readiness, contradicting §2.2 row-aggregate rule
(PASS requires BOTH W1 + W1b). Workers following §4.2 could falsely
close rung 3 on W1 alone. Fixed: all aux/post-migration headline
examples now show row aggregate FAIL with named W1b blocking receipt.

2. §6 baseline for aux row rendered `dag=SKIP` while substrate is
executable today (W1 verdict path landed). Violates companion §2.4
(SKIP only when predicate did not run). Fixed: aux baseline now shows
`dag=PASS` for executed W1 stage, row aggregate FAIL on unlanded W1b.

3. Line anchors at §2.2 / §1 / §2.6 / §5 cited `05_eval.dag:1729,1741`,
   `:1723-1742`, `:1707-1716`, `:1745-1768` — wrong by 2-4 lines on
   origin/main @ 0ace5f8. Fixed: precondition diagnostic at :1733;
invalid_node at :1711; verdict fn at :1721-1739; runtime variant at
   :1741-1763; input admission at :1705-1717.

Added §2.2 cell-render clarification: the single `dag` cell reports the
W1 stage status alone (PASS/FAIL/SKIP based on whether W1 executed); W1b
status surfaces only as blocking receipt and row-aggregate gate. Keeps
the one-cell-per-target convention while preserving W1/W1b honesty.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* docs(planning): rung-3 spec — fix §1 'SKIP cell' wording + §5 grep verification

Addresses cursor/composer-2.5 REQUEST_CHANGES on PR #4003:

1. §1 out-of-scope bullet said W1b carries an "explicit SKIP cell",
contradicting §2.2 which states W1b does NOT get its own matrix cell
(surfaces only as blocking receipt). Could lead workers to add a W1b
column. Fixed: bullet now says W1b is the row's named blocking
receipt (dag_roundtrip_fidelity_w1b_unlanded), not its own cell.

2. §5 spot-check claimed `git grep -l RoundTripClaim` on algebra_laws/
returns nothing — actually returns nat_semiring.dag (import only).
Wedge claim still correct (no RoundTripClaim row exists), but cited
verification step was wrong. Fixed: tightened to
`grep -nE 'RoundTripClaim *\{'` which correctly returns empty, with
note that only an import exists.

R4 binding:

* docs(close/receipt): address cursor — restate MW-D8 conditions verbatim, fix C3 OR-arm adjudication

Cursor finding (valid):
- C3 used a narrowed paraphrase ('landed') instead of MW-D8's actual disjunctive
bar ('landed as usable substrate primitive OR explicitly blocked with a
Modeling DFS worksheet naming the parser/substrate gap'). The §2.3 adjudication
rewrote authority by treating activation debt as non-reopening, which dilutes
  operator intent.

Fixes:
- §1 conditions table now quotes MW-D8 verbatim for all five rows; each OR-arm
spelled out explicitly so no paraphrase can narrow the bar.
- §2.3 C3: stays PROVEN but explicitly identifies the OR-arm satisfied
  (explicit-block-with-worksheet via docs/planning/v4-upsert-t-substrate-worksheet-2026-05-30.md
naming SG-2b). Notes PR #3981's own 'not full usable substrate' self-assessment
rules out the first arm. engineering_state downgraded from n/a to
SUBSTRATE_PRESENT (parseable skeleton, not full usable).
- §2.1, §2.2, §2.4, §2.5 also restated with MW-D8 verbatim quotes + per-arm
receipt criteria so adjudications cannot drift from the operator-ratified text.
- §2.3 watch conditions add: if SG-2b path abandoned, OR-arm receipt loses
validity and row reopens — preserves anti-dilution.

Closure invariant (PR #3949 §1) preserved: the worksheet IS the closure receipt
for the OR-arm of an explicitly-disjunctive condition (not a substrate-only
landing being elevated past the closure invariant).

* fix(ci): SG-0 pairing line must say Follow-up dispatch (discipline gate)

The (c) deferral check requires the word "dispatch" on the pairing line;
"Dissolution:" was rejected by check-pr-sg0-net-shrink-discipline.sh.

…ator flavor (iv)

PM coordination 2026-05-30 with snappy-bee-513 + operator flavor (iv) pick
("alpha v4, no Jun 1 gating, just honest WIP labeling, same for v3").

Per-surface table covers every src/v4/ subtree + src/v3/ bootstrap, each
labeled ship_disposition: ALPHA_WIP (new vocabulary value for the public-tier
axis, orthogonal to the internal closure-axis from PR #3949). engineering_state
tracks maturity per surface using the existing six values.

Public-tier model:
- 'supported' = Rust + TypeScript subset (snappy-bee D-REL-3a/3b authority)
- 'alpha/WIP — not on support contract' = everything else in src/v3/ and src/v4/

Reference HEAD: post-#4017. Cites concrete engineering_state per row including
~7.9k rustc errors on v4 compiler, SG-7 in flight (#4014), R1+R2a/R2b/R3-external
executable receipts (#3972 + #4000), install.dag substrate-shipped exemplar.

§3 explicitly disclaims gating Jun 1, amending RELEASE_v0.1.0.md / TASKS.md,
dispatching workers, or introducing a fail-closed bar. §4 informational
maturation cadence preserves anti-shelfware deadlines from PR #3949 §4
post-tag.

NOT a parallel ledger; PR #4017 and PR #4013 stay as the live maturation
trackers.

* docs(close/receipt): #4023 — correct supported-tier to Rust + Python + Go (operator D-REL-3b 2026-05-30)

snappy-bee-513 flagged that the supplement caught a 30-second-stale framing:
v0.1.0 'supported' is Rust + Python + Go per operator D-REL-3b 2026-05-30,
NOT Rust + TypeScript. TypeScript moves to v4 early-support / alpha-only.

Fixes:
- §1 supported-tier row now names Rust + Python + Go.
- §2.3 'supported' references updated; TypeScript (with ecmascript.dag) now
explicitly listed as alpha/WIP, not on supported tier.
- §2.4 cross-link out clarifies snappy-bee's D-REL-3b authority cites the
Rust + Python + Go matrix.

Structure unchanged otherwise; per-surface table values stable.

* docs(close/receipt): #4023 — address cursor + openai-pro findings (3 fixes)

(1) Cursor: 'EXECUTABLE_RECEIPT_PRESENT' is not in PR #3949 §1 ratified
engineering_state enum. Replaced wherever it appeared (5 sites) with
'PARTIAL_GATE_PRESENT', which is the ratified value that fits when
per-claim runners fire but full-corpus / fixture coverage hasn't widened.
Keeps the two-axis vocabulary orthogonal and avoids single-authority
    violation.

(2) Cursor: RoundTripClaim eval is no longer 'Deferred in 05_eval.dag'.
Verified on origin/main: run_test_claim wires RoundTripClaim to live
    eval at src/v4/compiler/05_eval.dag:1895-1907 via
    run_test_claim_round_trip_verdict_runtime + eval_round_trip_claim_input_for_verdict.
Updated row to PARTIAL_GATE_PRESENT and rewrote engineering_state cell
to cite the live eval; residual maturation is T-38 corpus-runner wiring
plus fixture-coverage widening (not eval-arm deferral).

(3) Openai-pro: §1 + §3 'no fail-closed bar' wording overreached — was
waiving a project invariant (every diagnostic path either fully succeeds
or emits typed diagnostic, no fabricated output), not just the public
support contract. Rewrote both lines to scope the waiver to compile-clean /
support / regression guarantees, and to explicitly preserve the internal
fail-closed invariant for implemented diagnostic boundaries in alpha code.
