The cuDNN Frost MoE backends (CudnnFrost{Bf16,Mxfp8,Nvfp4,Mxfp8Mxfp4}Config) rejected every model whose SwiGLU is not the default one, which covers most current MoE releases:
DeepSeek-V4/V4.1-Flash (and its DSpark draft head) and GLM-5.3-Flash clamp at limit=10.
gpt-oss and MiniMax-M3 use SwiGLU(alpha=1.702, beta=1, limit=7).
On SM120 these models now run in all four dtypes. The SM120 kernels are also refreshed from cuDNN Frontend develop (886d7176). The PR is rebased onto #8692 (Frost GATHER/COMBINE), whose SM107 and SM120 sources come from 0d72d59e; the SM120 sources here come from its descendant 886d7176.
New sources whose fused FC1 epilogue reads alpha, beta, limit and -limit as FP32 scalar kernel inputs. This is FlashInfer's SwiGLU contract (g = min(gate, limit), u = clamp(up, -limit, limit), g * sigmoid(alpha * g) * (u + beta)), so one kernel serves every model.
activation_name() maps a non-default SwiGLU to swiglu_param. The default SwiGLU() keeps its swiglu sources.
The swiglu_param sources ship with the same tiles, orientations and output variants as swiglu.
The native executors write the scalars into their scalar slots during routing, so CUDA graph replays keep them. Each executor's private make_runner gains four trailing scalars.
SM107 packages no swiglu_param sources. Its runners decline the activation in check_support() instead of dropping the parameters.
gpt-oss geometry (H = I = 2880)
SM120 kernels take N/K in whole 32-element blocks and mask the K tail, so the SM120 catalog contract is now N/K multiples of 32. SM107 keeps 128.
On SM120, BF16 admits H/I in 32s and NVFP4 in 64s (4-column scale words).
MXFP8 and MXFP8×MXFP4 keep 128s, because their canonical weight scales are int32-packed per 128 K.
NVFP4 weight scales pad each matrix to whole 128-row atoms. When a gated I is not a multiple of 128, the gate rows of the canonical [up; gate] scale matrix start mid-atom. CudnnFrostNvfp4Config.prepare_weights (now prepare_cudnn_frost_nvfp4_weights) therefore stores fc1_weight_block_scale per branch, as [2, E, round_up(I, 128), H/16]. The rest of the view is the CUTLASS view, unchanged.
Kernel refresh
Every SM120 source of every dtype is re-exported from cuDNN Frontend 886d7176 (develop tip on 2026-11-04). #8692 moved the packaged SM107 and SM120 sources to 0d72d59e; 886d7176 is its descendant and adds the remaining SM120 audit fixes: MoE group bounds clamped to the routed rows, Int64 column-quantization scale offsets, and the SF-blob layout, zero-extent and aux-layout fixes. Relative to main, the rendered SM120 sources change by +294/−22 lines across 28 files.
What did not change:
Kernel IDs and shortlists. Every ID on main survives (SM120: 520 / 376 / 197 / 348 kernels for bf16 / mxfp8 / nvfp4 / mxfp8×mxfp4); the only additions are the swiglu_param kernels (41 / 34 / 15 / 28).
SM107 sources, catalog records and shortlists, which are exactly main's (add-frost-combine-moe #8692's 0d72d59e export, including GATHER and COMBINE).
device.py still reproduces every exported kernel's device constants and workspace.
Exporter fix (SwiGLUStep)
cuDNN's RELU_FWD continues a slope below lower_clip: x < lower ? lower + slope * (x - lower) : x. Frost implements that since cuDNN Frontend e0185b3b.
The exporter's relu(negative_slope=1, lower_clip=-7, upper_clip=7) clamped up at -7 only under the old lowering. Re-exported, it leaks below -7, with relative L2 ≈ 1 against the reference.
It is now a slope-free relu(lower_clip=-7, upper_clip=7), which is correct under both lowerings. add-frost-combine-moe #8692 landed the same spelling and re-exported SM107 with it; this PR keeps it.
Backward compatibility
No public API is removed or renamed. Behavior changes:
On SM120, the Frost runners accept a non-default SwiGLU. It used to raise NotImplementedError on every arch.
On SM120, BF16 and NVFP4 admit H/I that are not multiples of 128.
For a gated I % 128 != 0, a shape that was rejected before, CudnnFrostNvfp4Config.prepare_weights returns per-branch FC1 block scales.
Every other prepared view is unchanged.
Verified end to end through MoELayer
Real model shapes, each with its own SwiGLU; every Frost cell here was refused before this change. Each cell ran T = 1, 16, 128, 1024 and 4096, compared the output with the test references, checked that CUDA graph replay is bit-equal, and checked that cudnn_frost_* won autotuning. GPU: RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition (SM120).

Relative L2 against the reference is at most 1.7e-3 (bf16) and 5.7e-4 (block-scale).
The default-SwiGLU result differs from each model's own result by 31–83%, so the parameters are applied.
¹ prepare_cutlass_mxfp8{,_mxfp4}_weights require H/I divisible by 128. The Frost SM120 kernels themselves handle K = 2880, so MX support at 2880 needs a Frost-specific MX weight preparation, which is a follow-up.
Measurement: Frost-only MoELayer, autotuned per T. Each time is the median of 9 rounds of 20 CUDA-graph replays of one complete layer call, including routing, both grouped GEMMs, intermediate quantization and finalize.
GPU: one RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition, uniform routing.
This PR requires full-scope CI, not targeted tests (expensive; justify below).

Test setup: RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition (SM120), CUDA 13.4, PyTorch 2.14, CuTe DSL 4.7.1.
New tests/moe/test_cudnn_frost_swiglu_param.py:
activation mapping and launch scalars;
catalog coverage and tail order;
SM107 decline and SM120 geometry admission;
per-branch NVFP4 scale layout;
MoELayer with both model SwiGLUs in 4 dtypes, with CUDA graph replay;
gpt-oss geometry (bf16 and nvfp4);
a half-atom NVFP4 I.
Existing tests now also cover swiglu_param:
every BF16 tactic, with graph replay and routing changes;
NVFP4 and MXFP8×MXFP4 kernels in both orientations;
every MXFP8 kernel;
the launch ABI.
Frost test files (test_cudnn_frost_{catalog,dimensions,kernels,swiglu_param}.py, test_unified_moe_frost.py): 802 passed, 555 skipped, 0 failed. The unchanged base gives 746 passed, 555 skipped. The skips are SM107-only tests.
After rebasing onto main (c4bbce7, after add-frost-combine-moe #8692), on SM120:test_cudnn_frost_swiglu_param.py + test_cudnn_frost_catalog.py + test_cudnn_frost_dimensions.py: 88 passed, 75 skipped, 0 failed; test_cudnn_frost_kernels.py + test_unified_moe_frost.py: 720 passed, 497 skipped, 0 failed (808 / 572 / 0 in total; the skips are SM107-only tests). The end-to-end model matrix above was re-run on the rebased tree with identical results: 140 cells ok, relative L2 ≤ 1.7e-3 (bf16) and ≤ 5.7e-4 (block-scale), CUDA graph replay bit-equal, cudnn_frost_* the winner in every cell.
🔬 Experimental Track
This PR is experimental: it adds or changes code under flashinfer/experimental/ and/or an @flashinfer_experimental_api. Tracking issue: #
The tracking issue names an owner, the reason for the experimental path, and a graduation plan with a target release.
Core changes are limited to a thin entry point (signature, shared validation, feature-gate check, backend selection, handoff).
Tests live in tests/experimental/ and were validated on the intended hardware; a runnable example is included.
Nothing is registered in flashinfer/aot.py, and no experimental backend is reachable from backend="auto" without FLASHINFER_ALLOW_EXPERIMENTAL_AUTO_BACKENDS=1. (Calling an @flashinfer_experimental_api or naming a backend explicitly is itself the opt-in and needs no environment variable.)
Test scope declared below. The experimental CI lane runs exactly these targets, so keep them as narrow as the change allows.
# One target per line: a directory or a file. (A pytest ::selector is not
# supported -- the sharding runner cannot consume one.) Must be under
# tests/experimental/ and must exist. Delete these comment lines and add yours, e.g.

# tests/experimental/test_my_backend.py
# tests/experimental/my_backend/
#
# Declaring the whole tree (tests/experimental/) is allowed but means every
# experimental PR pays for every other feature's tests, in every matrix cell.
Reviewer Notes
SM107 was not run on hardware; no SM107 GPU was available.
The SM107 sources are byte-identical to main.
The SM107-reachable executor changes are the scalar-slot extension (7 FP32 slots instead of 3, same writer kernels) and the four trailing scalars of make_runner / make_gather_runner, beside add-frost-combine-moe #8692's GATHER/COMBINE plumbing.
SM107 metadata and catalog tests ran, including with an SM107 capability. Please include an SM107 runner in CI.
Shortlists were not re-measured for the refreshed SM120 kernels. Every listed ID still resolves, and runtime autotuning chooses among them.
swiglu_param scalar order follows Frost's first-use aux order: swiglu_limit, swiglu_alpha, swiglu_lower, swiglu_beta, then scale. dimension_catalog.py checks every exported tail against the expanded catalog.
The SwiGLUStep exporter spelling matches add-frost-combine-moe #8692's. Both packaged revisions post-date the cuDNN Frontend ReLU change, so no packaged source encodes the old clamp.
Rebase onto add-frost-combine-moe #8692. The executors carry both add-frost-combine-moe #8692's GATHER/COMBINE plumbing and this PR's scalar slots. The catalogs were regenerated with dimension_catalog.write_catalog from add-frost-combine-moe #8692's SM107 records plus the 886d7176 SM120 export pool, so SM107 records, sources and shortlists are unchanged, and every rendered SM120 kernel is byte-identical (per logical ID) to the one validated before the rebase.
The pull request adds parameterized SwiGLU support to cuDNN Frost MoE, expands supported SM120 dimension granularities, and updates NVFP4 weight-scale preparation. SM120 kernel templates and manifests also change to handle routed-row bounds, scale tails, packed and padded FP4 inputs, and external scheduler-counter resets.
Parameterized SwiGLU is identified as swiglu_param. Its launch scalars are passed through artifact discovery, plan construction, executor-cache keys, runtime preparation, native runner arguments, and generated kernels.
SM120 templates clamp routed group offsets and scale prefixes, mask unused scale bytes, and distinguish packed from padded FP4 operands. Reduction flushes receive a bounded routed-row count. Scheduler-counter initialization is conditional on external_counter_reset.
NVFP4 geometry and scale preparation flashinfer/fused_moe/api.py, flashinfer/fused_moe/prepare.py, flashinfer/fused_moe/backends/cudnn_frost/{support.py,nvfp4/*}, flashinfer/fused_moe/backends/cudnn_frost/csrc/moe_nvfp4.cu, tests/moe/test_cudnn_frost_swiglu_param.py
SM120 NVFP4 geometry accepts H/I multiples of 64. Scale shapes use 128-row padding, and gated FC1 with an intermediate size not divisible by 128 uses separately swizzled branch scales.
Catalogs and documentation flashinfer/fused_moe/backends/cudnn_frost/artifacts/*/cudnn_frost_selected_kernels.json, flashinfer/fused_moe/backends/cudnn_frost/README.md, tests/moe/test_cudnn_frost_kernels.py
The manifests add swiglu_param fragments and lower SM120 N/K minima and multiples to 32. Documentation and tests cover the architecture-specific activation and geometry contracts.

Reject SwiGLU scalars outside the FP32 range before launch.
SwiGLU accepts finite alpha, beta, and limit values larger than the FP32 maximum. launch_scalars returns these values as Python floats. The narrowing occurs later. make_runner takes them as double and converts them with float(...) in csrc/moe_bf16.cu and csrc/moe_nvfp4.cu. The NVFP4, MXFP8, and MXFP8×MXFP4 runtimes also pass them to torch.full(..., dtype=torch.float32). An out-of-range value can become infinity. For a gate of exactly zero, multiplying by an infinite alpha or beta then yields NaN.
Add the magnitude check in activation_scalars. Each Frost MoE path reaches this function through launch_scalars. A check in SwiGLU.__post_init__ would also change admission for the other backends that consume SwiGLU.

Pass propagate_nan=True to the swiglu_param clamps, as the ReLU-family clamps do.
The new swiglu_param fragment 61e28c519656cc78 calls cute.math.min(_c_0_a, lim) without propagate_nan. The fragment is in flashinfer/fused_moe/backends/cudnn_frost/artifacts/bf16/cudnn_frost_selected_kernels.json at line 3821. The propagate_nan default is False, so a NaN gate value is ignored and the result becomes the finite clip bound. The swiglu_param clamps in nvfp4, mxfp8, and mxfp8_mxfp4 artifacts have the same omission. The ReLU-family clamps in the same PR pass propagate_nan=True. Add propagate_nan=True to the swiglu_param min and max calls in the emitter so a NaN input reaches the output, as the reference does.

Guard Frost NVFP4 admission against canonical-only SM120 packs with I % 128 != 0.
On SM120, a gated canonical cutlass_nvfp4 pack with H=128 and I=192 now passes Frost admission. pack_inputs then raises ValueError, and MoELayer does not fall back to CUTLASS. Before this change, Frost rejected that shape, so the pack ran through CUTLASS. Reject canonical-only packs in CudnnFrostNvfp4MoeRunner.accepts when the activation is gated and intermediate_size % 128 is nonzero.

…880, kernels re-exported from cuDNN Frontend 886d7176
The cuDNN Frost MoE backends rejected every model whose SwiGLU is not the
default one: DeepSeek-V4/V4.1-Flash, its DSpark draft head and GLM-5.3-Flash
clamp at limit 10, and gpt-oss and MiniMax-M3 use SwiGLU(alpha=1.702, beta=1,
limit=7). On SM120 they now run, in all four dtypes.
- swiglu_param: SM120 sources whose epilogue reads alpha, beta, limit and
-limit as FP32 scalar kernel inputs (FlashInfer's SwiGLU contract:
g = min(gate, limit), u = clamp(up, -limit, limit),
g * sigmoid(alpha * g) * (u + beta)), so one kernel serves every model.
The default SwiGLU() keeps its swiglu sources. The native executors write
the scalars into their scalar slots during routing, so CUDA graph replays
keep them. SM107 packages no swiglu_param sources, and its runner declines
such activations instead of dropping the parameters.
- gpt-oss geometry (H = I = 2880): SM120 kernels take N/K in whole 32-element
blocks, so the SM120 catalog contract needs multiples of 32. BF16 admits
H/I in 32s and NVFP4 in 64s on SM120. MXFP8 and MXFP8 x MXFP4 keep 128s:
their canonical weight scales are int32-packed per 128 K. NVFP4 weight
scales pad each matrix to whole 128-row atoms. When a gated I is not a
multiple of 128, the gate rows of the canonical [up; gate] scale matrix
start mid-atom, so CudnnFrostNvfp4Config.prepare_weights stores the FC1
block scales per branch.
- Every SM120 source of every dtype is re-exported from cuDNN Frontend
develop 886d7176. Kernel IDs and shortlists are unchanged, and the SM107
sources are byte-identical.
- Exporter: SwiGLUStep's up clamp is now a slope-free
relu(lower_clip=-7, upper_clip=7). cuDNN's RELU_FWD continues a slope below
lower_clip, which Frost implements since cuDNN Frontend e0185b3b; the old
relu(negative_slope=1, lower_clip=-7) spelling then leaks below -7.

Allow the exporter to accept supported SM120 geometry.
When an operator exports an SM120 BF16 or NVFP4 kernel with N or K equal to 2880, _build_graph raises ValueError before compilation because 2880 is not divisible by 128. The new SM120 contracts admit that geometry, so the exporter cannot directly regenerate or validate it. Pass the target architecture into this check and apply the appropriate dtype-specific alignment. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Update the geometry validation in _build_graph to account for the target
architecture and dtype: preserve the existing alignment requirements for other
cases, while accepting N or K equal to 2880 for supported SM120 BF16 and NVFP4

tests/moe/test_cudnn_frost_swiglu_param.py:165-177 Minor · Functional Correctness · Quick win
The failure is confined to one test in the PR's own targeted CI. It is not an optional or unrelated diagnostic, so the red run blocks the validation the reviewer requested. The impact is limited to this test on SM90. No shipped code path is affected, and the fix is a localized skip. Severity is minor. The category is functional_correctness, because the guard condition is wrong. Skip test_nvfp4_per_branch_fc1_scales on architectures that CUTLASS NVFP4 does not support.
The CUDA-only guard lets H100 (SM90) reach CutlassNvfp4Config.prepare_weights. That call quantizes with fp4_quantize, which requires SM100 or newer, so the test fails on the targeted H100 run. The architecture check in CutlassNvfp4Config.supported excludes SM90 and keeps SM120 covered. The existing helper in test_unified_moe_cutlass.py uses the same check.

Rebased onto main after #8692 (Frost GATHER/COMBINE, SM107/SM120 re-export from cuDNN Frontend 0d72d59e) and resolved the conflicts:
Executors (csrc/moe_*.cu): carry both add-frost-combine-moe #8692's GATHER/COMBINE plumbing and this PR's activation-scalar slots; make_runner and make_gather_runner both take the four trailing SwiGLU scalars.
Exporter / catalog writer: add-frost-combine-moe #8692's gather/combine graph options and chunk-shared templates, plus this PR's swiglu_param graph and gated_param activation group. The SwiGLUStep up-clamp fix was made identically on both sides; add-frost-combine-moe #8692's spelling is kept.
Catalogs and sources: regenerated with write_catalog from add-frost-combine-moe #8692's SM107 records plus the 886d7176 SM120 export pool. SM107 records, sources and shortlists are exactly main's; every rendered SM120 kernel is byte-identical (per logical ID) to the one validated before the rebase. 886d7176 is a descendant of 0d72d59e, so the SM120 sources differ from main only by the later SM120 audit fixes (+294/−22 lines over 28 files).
Verification on the rebased tree (RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition, SM120):
The 8-model end-to-end matrix from the description (4 dtypes × T = 1…4096): unchanged, 140 cells ok; the 4 gpt-oss MX cells stay preparation_error as before.
pre-commit run --files over every hand-written file: all hooks pass.
The diff against main is now 56 files, +1959/−498 (the earlier +4228/−12705 included the source refresh that #8692 has since made).

Reviewed the rebase onto GATHER/COMBINE, activation scalar wiring, and regenerated catalogs. Three existing P2 issues remain; linked their current discussions to avoid duplicate inline comments.
Validation: CPU activation, catalog, dimensions, and unified Frost suites: 109 passed, 107 device-dependent tests skipped. Selected source round-trip, export, and launch ABI tests: 11 passed, 1153 deselected. All four native executor translation units compiled for sm_120a with CUDA 13.2. All 5391 base kernel IDs remain; all 4068 SM107 expanded records and source templates match the base. All 1441 rendered SM120 kernel sources and launch tails match the prior reviewed head by logical identity. The prior 12 offline SM120 compilations remain applicable; they were not repeated. CPU reproducers again confirm canonical-only half-atom NVFP4 selection raises before fallback, and NaN clamp emulation disagrees with the reference. Reused author-requested focused CI run 41996201654 on this exact head; H100 job 127140138601 is pending.
Limitations: No local GPU execution, CUDA graph replay, numerical kernel comparison, or performance benchmark. Public H100/A10G/T4 coverage does not execute SM120 or SM107 device cases; author-reported SM120 measurements were not independently repeated. Admission and NaN reproducers are CPU checks with the stated mocked metadata or emulation.

Rebase-only follow-up: all 56 PR files and the full PR patch are unchanged. The three existing P2 findings remain; linked their discussions rather than adding duplicate inline comments.
Validation: Current-head SwiGLU suite: 9 passed, 25 device-dependent tests skipped. Both CPU reproducers reran and confirm the canonical-only NVFP4 selection error and NaN clamp/reference mismatch. Verified identical blobs for all 56 PR paths and an identical full patch against the new merge base. Head-to-head changes are upstream Cake/KDA paths; repository instructions are unchanged. Prior head 4e49e90: 109 CPU tests and 11 source/launch ABI tests passed; four native executor compilations passed. These checks were not repeated on unchanged sources. Prior-head focused H100 run 41996201654 completed with 252 passed, 1 failed, 1062 skipped; the only failure is the unchanged NVFP4 test guard. All six AOT jobs were cancelled. No fresh GPU run requested pending that test fix.
Limitations: No local GPU execution, CUDA graph replay, numerical kernel comparison, or performance measurement. GPU CI evidence is from the preceding head, not this commit. It does not validate SM120 or SM107 device cases. Admission and NaN reproducers use CPU tensors with supplied metadata or arithmetic emulation.

Focused CI for 592e747f1024: run 42142439254 failed. H100: 252 passed, 1 failed, 1062 skipped. The sole failure is the existing architecture-guard issue in test_nvfp4_per_branch_fc1_scales: fp4_quantize requires SM100 or newer; got SM90. The kernel and catalog suites had no failures. 📌 Description
The cuDNN Frost MoE backends (
CudnnFrost{Bf16,Mxfp8,Nvfp4,Mxfp8Mxfp4}Config) rejected every model whose SwiGLU is not the default one, which covers most current MoE releases:limit=10.SwiGLU(alpha=1.702, beta=1, limit=7).On SM120 these models now run in all four dtypes. The SM120 kernels are also refreshed from cuDNN Frontend
develop(886d7176). The PR is rebased onto #8692 (Frost GATHER/COMBINE), whose SM107 and SM120 sources come from0d72d59e; the SM120 sources here come from its descendant886d7176.Launch-time SwiGLU parameters (

This is FlashInfer's SwiGLU contract (g = min(gate, limit),u = clamp(up, -limit, limit),g * sigmoid(alpha * g) * (u + beta)), so one kernel serves every model.activation_name()maps a non-defaultSwiGLUtoswiglu_param. RELU_FWDcontinues a slope belowlower_clip:x < lower ? lower + slope * (x - lower) : x. Frost implements that since cuDNN Frontende0185b3b.relu(negative_slope=1, lower_clip=-7, upper_clip=7)clampedupat -7 only under the old lowering. Re-exported, it leaks below -7, with relative L2 ≈ 1 against the reference.relu(lower_clip=-7, upper_clip=7), which is correct under both lowerings. add-frost-combine-moe #8692 landed the same spelling and re-exported SM107 with it; this PR keeps it.Backward compatibility
