Video Nodes and Skins

Your Plex media libraries are mixed together? Your home videos are movies?

This is what you need to do to separate your Plex libraries if they are mixed together (e.g. your Kids movies appear together with your Parents movies). Kodi does not support several e.g. movies sections natively.

Kodi can be much more customized than Plex. A key element when using PKC are Video Nodes. PKC automatically sets up video nodes for each of your libraries that you can use to access your media more conveniently and especially separate your Plex libraries again.

Customize your homescreen

1. In the standard Estuary skin, you can't customize the top level vertical menu on the left. It will always show "movies" and "tv shows". The area you can customize is the top row on the right where you see the icons for genres, years, etc. You can customize that first row to have, for example Parents, Kids or any Plex library you have.
2. If you do want to change to top level navigational menu, you will first need to install a skin that does support this. Follow this Kodi tutorial. I personally like Titan or Aeon Nox. The sky is the limit
3. Only if you want to separate different Plex libraries: Customize the shortcuts on your homescreen (e.g. Movies). Unfortunately, this is dependant on the skin you are using (the default skin Estuary doesn't allow editing of nodes). For most skins, navigate to:
   Settings - Skin Settings - Configure shortcuts - Edit menu shortcuts / Add (or Change) Shortcut
   Then pick the correct Plex library, e.g.
   Video Library - Movies (with a Plex icon) - Movies
   or sometimes also
   Video Library - Video Add-On - PlexKodiConnect - Movies
   You don't need to do this step if you only have one Plex library.
   WARNING: If you pick a movie or tv show node, be sure to navigate first to Video Library. If picking a music node, navigate to Music Library. Your nodes won't work correctly otherwise!
4. For Plex-like widgets and submenus, several additional views are available per Plex library, like On deck or Recently added (see screenshot above). For most skins, navigate to
   Settings - Skin Settings - Configure shortcuts - Edit menu shortcuts / Add (or Change) Shortcut
   Scroll down to widgets (or shortcuts/submenu), then
   Widget 1 (or Select Widget or similar) - Video Library - Movies (with a Plex icon) - On Deck
