fix(memory): avoid request/response payload clones for no-log API keys - #19052
persistAttemptLogs cloned potentially large request and response bodies even when the API key had no_log=1. saveCallLog discarded those clones later, so no-log traffic paid the allocation/GC cost with no persisted detail.
Change
Short-circuit the two bounded-clone paths for noLogEnabled before traversing payloads.
Keep the existing counters, audit handling, and normal (non-no-log) detailed logging unchanged.
Add focused regression coverage with a no-log payload that throws if cloned.
Production evidence
An observed Nov 1 pressure incident involved 59 successive 50K–174K-token OpenAI Responses requests from a single no-log API key. The Node process entered pressure with ~1.2 GiB V8 heapUsed. This change removes a demonstrably redundant copy step; it does not claim to resolve every source of heap growth.

Bug Fixes
When request and response logging is disabled, call logs now omit both bodies while retaining call status, detail state, and token counts. This also prevents disabled request-body logging from accessing the body.
Call-log saves continue to emit lifecycle events asynchronously.
When noLogEnabled is true, attempt logging stores null request and response bodies. A new test checks that the saved call-log row retains its status and input-token usage.

Summary
No-log body persistence open-sse/handlers/chatCore/attemptLogging.ts, tests/unit/chatcore-attempt-logging.test.ts
When noLogEnabled is true, request and response bodies are stored as null. The test checks that the saved row retains status 200, detail state none, and 125,000 input tokens.
The no-log optimization is sound, but the added regression test asserts a field that does not exist on the returned rows and will fail, so the unit suite will not pass as submitted. No-log responses also lose some reasoning-related metadata. Fix the test assertion before merging; the metadata gap is a minor follow-up.
Security architecture risk: Minimal · up to 8f0ac
The existing no-log protection remains enforced, and the change removes redundant payload preparation without introducing a new endpoint or additional authority. Usage counters and persistence ordering remain intact. Some response-derived reasoning diagnostics can disappear for no-log calls.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The change affects existing no-log traffic through the shared attempt logger. It removes two payload-copy paths, reducing allocation work in the serving process without adding a network entrypoint, credential capability or cross-key access path.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — The caller derives noLogEnabled from API-key metadata and passes it alongside the key identity. The sink enforces no-log when either the supplied flag or its key-policy lookup requires it; the new early omission does not replace that independent control.
