fix(antigravity): store verify link, keep blocked accounts in error - #18661
What was broken: the Antigravity "Verify account" button added in fix(providers): surface the Antigravity verify-account link on the connection row #16532 never appears. When Google answers an account with 403 VALIDATION_REQUIRED ("Verify your account to continue"), the verification link is never stored on the connection, so the operator has no way to reach Google's unlock flow from the dashboard. Even when the error itself is recorded, a still-blocked account flips back to active within about a minute, so the dashboard hides which accounts still need verification.
Root cause:
The recorder runs in chatCore after the executor has already rebuilt the 403 into the sanitized client envelope, which (correctly) drops error.details[].metadata.validation_url. The connection test probe (dashboard Test and the hourly credential-health run) sees the raw body but never stores the link.
Three recovery paths treat Google's answers as proof the account recovered: the quota poll (maybeClearRecoveredQuotaState), the OAuth refresh (getRefreshRecoveryUpdate), and the 60 s proactive recovery tick, which clears error labels as stale noise.
The probe logged the first 500 characters of the raw 403 body, including part of the link's continuation token.
This change stores the link where the raw 403 is still in hand (sendAntigravityRequest and the test probe), masks accounts.google.com links in the probe log, clears the stored link when a probe passes, and leaves the error state alone in the three recovery paths while a Google verification link is stored.

Real-environment test (complementary) — a self-hosted instance with 62 Antigravity connections, 41 of them blocked by 403 VALIDATION_REQUIRED.
Environment: Docker image built from this code, Node 26 on linux/arm64.
Result: after the startup credential-health run, all 41 blocked connections had the link stored and showed the Verify account button; no part of the continuation token reached the logs. Snapshots taken right after a later startup run and again 15 minutes later (about 15 recovery-tick runs in between) kept every still-blocked connection flagged (error, or expired for one whose token had also expired), while connections that passed Google's verification returned to active on their next test.
Scope
Only the files the failing tests prove need changing are touched
No test was weakened or deleted to make the suite pass
Validation
Change type: provider / routing
Focused tests — the four files above: 37/37 pass
Broader run over every unit test touching Antigravity, verification, provider limits, recovery, cooldowns, token refresh and the test route (338 files): 2467/2468 pass. The one failure (migration 196 keeps existing rows…) is local-only: the prebuilt better-sqlite3 binary needs GLIBC_2.33, which the test host lacks; it is unrelated to this change.

Reviewer Notes
Recovery tick behavior change (fix(backend): Failed connection test leaves testStatus=error with no recovery path #9623): the tick still clears stale error labels as before; it only skips a connection while a Google verification link is stored. A passing connection test (manual Test, Test all, or the hourly credential-health run) drops the link, after which all three recovery paths behave exactly as before. The quota-poll and refresh guards are keyed on the same stored link, and only the Antigravity recorder ever writes that link, so no other provider's recovery changes.
Security: the probe log line used to print the first 500 characters of the raw 403 body, which includes part of the link's continuation token. It now masks every accounts.google.com link. The link itself is only stored in providerSpecificData (as fix(providers): surface the Antigravity verify-account link on the connection row #16532 intended) and is never echoed into a client-facing error body.
The executor reads the error body from response.clone(), so the downstream envelope is unchanged; the recorder is imported lazily to avoid the async ESM init cycle with ../antigravity.ts noted in that file.
tests/unit/provider-limits-recovery.test.ts already fails prettier --check on the base branch; this PR only appends one formatted test and does not reformat the rest of the file.

The Verify account button added for Antigravity's 403 VALIDATION_REQUIRED never appeared:
the recorder runs in chatCore after the executor has rebuilt the 403 into the sanitized
client envelope, which drops error.details[].metadata.validation_url, and the connection
test probe (dashboard Test and the hourly credential-health run) saw the raw body but never
stored it. The probe also logged the first 500 characters of that body, including part of

Even with the error recorded, three recovery paths flipped a still-blocked account back to
active within a minute, because Google keeps answering them: the quota poll
(maybeClearRecoveredQuotaState), the OAuth refresh (getRefreshRecoveryUpdate) and the 60 s
proactive recovery tick, which treats an 'error' label as stale.
Store the link where the raw 403 is still in hand (sendAntigravityRequest and the test
probe), mask accounts.google.com links in the probe log, clear the link when a probe
passes, and leave the error state alone in all three recovery paths while a Google
verification link is stored.
Refs cheaper-inference#16532
Google account verification links are captured when an Antigravity connection requires verification, and masked in connection-test error logs.
Bug Fixes
Connections awaiting Google verification remain in an error state instead of being reactivated by polling, token refresh, quota recovery, or other automatic recovery.
A successful connection test clears a previously stored verification link.
Antigravity executor and connection-test flows now store Google verification links from qualifying 403 responses and redact those links in failure logs. Recovery checks preserve the connection’s error state while a verification link remains stored.
The executor and connection-test flow store verification links from 403 responses. The test route redacts links in Antigravity failure logs and clears stored links after a valid probe. Tests cover link capture, response preservation, log masking, and clearing.
Preserve pending-verification error states src/lib/quota/connectionRecovery.ts, src/lib/tokenHealthCheck.ts, src/lib/usage/providerLimits.ts, tests/unit/connection-recovery-verification-pending.test.ts, tests/unit/token-refresh-keeps-verification-block.test.ts, tests/unit/provider-limits-recovery.test.ts
Recovery projections mark connections with stored verification links as pending. Cooldown recovery, token-refresh recovery, and recovered-quota handling leave those connections’ error state unchanged. Tests cover the pending and non-pending cases.
Security architecture risk: Moderate · up to 75685
The change improves blocked-account visibility, but newly captured verification links need protection throughout storage and recovery. An inconclusive connection test can remove the pending-verification signal without proving recovery. The existing escaped-link logging exposure also remains.
Retained concerns
Medium · security · inferred: Raw-403 capture broadens population of a continuation-token-bearing field that ordinary provider metadata retains. verificationUrl is outside the declared field-level secret protections and response sanitizer exclusions. This expands sensitive state in existing storage and management-response paths, although no new anonymous audience or token-replay capability was established.
Medium · reliability · inferred: The new probe cleanup does not establish that the verification challenge ended. Antigravity’s inconclusive HTTP 400 result is valid:true and therefore deletes the stored link, disabling the new recovery guards and hiding the operator’s verification action. Cleanup can also delete a newer concurrently recorded challenge because it is not conditional on the observed state. These are verification-state integrity failures, not demonstrated bypasses of Google’s enforcement.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — Each recorder write targets one selected connection. Readers of the provider database or authorized collection responses can encounter links across multiple stored connections. The inspected flow does not establish arbitrary cross-owner writes, anonymous export access, or that a continuation token alone grants account access.
Security Findings and Attack Paths
observed — Both retained findings concern raw upstream JSON containing slash-escaped verification URLs. The new literal-URL regex does not match that representation, allowing continuation-token text within the logged 500-character prefix to remain visible to log readers. The base already logged the raw prefix without redaction; this is a surviving exposure, not a new log-access boundary.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — Untrusted upstream response data becomes persistent connection state only after provider and URL checks. Transactional merging preserves unrelated metadata, but neither that transaction nor destination validation proves that a later cleanup corresponds to the latest challenge.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
inferred — The verification link now doubles as an operator action and an automatic-recovery gate. Incorrect deletion therefore propagates beyond presentation into recovery policy. A definitive-success condition and generation-aware cleanup would preserve that shared control invariant.
Hardening Proposals
proposed — Separate pending-verification status from the sensitive URL. Apply explicit secret protection to the stored URL and expose it only through an appropriately authorized operator action, preserving the existing verification workflow rather than silently stripping its link.

Explanation
The description follows the repository template closely. It has a Summary, Related Issues (Refs #16532), Target Branch checked against release/v3.8.x, Validation with the test and lint results, Tests Added (four new and one appended test file), and Reviewer Notes covering the recovery-tick behavior change, the agy gap, and security. Some template items are not addressed. The Coverage Notes section is missing, which the template requires when src/ or open-sse/ changes. The Validation checklist does not confirm a npm run lint pass; it defers the full lint to CI. The description also has a Proof Of Fix section that is not in the template.
Resolution
Add a Coverage Notes section that explains which tests cover the changes in src/ and open-sse/, and state whether coverage moved in any touched file. Optionally, confirm the full npm run lint result or state that CI is the gate.

Redact JSON-escaped verification URLs before logging.
src/app/api/providers/[id]/test/route.ts logs the raw bodyText, not parsed JSON. redactVerificationUrls matches only literal slashes, so a body containing https:\/\/accounts.google.com\/... bypasses redaction. The extractor’s JSON.parse handling does not protect this log path.

Capture verification links from the 401/403 refresh retry.
The Antigravity 400 retry case is not reachable because status 400 is configured as inconclusive. However, when an expired Antigravity token receives 401/403, the refreshed-token retry can return a final 403 before recordAntigravityVerificationUrl runs. Store the link from retryBody before that return, or the Verify button can remain unavailable.

Exclude verification-pending connections before every recovery branch.
selectRecoverableConnections checks verificationPending only inside isRecoverableCooldownConnection. A connection with a stored verification link and a credits_exhausted or expired status can still pass isCreditsExhaustedReprobeCandidate or isExpiredReprobeCandidate. The tick then calls clearAccountError, which sets testStatus to "active". Recording the link does not change the status, so this state can exist.
