1-5: Invalid test case covers the core scenario. The case-insensitive duplicate detection is tested. Consider adding additional test cases for exact duplicates (e.g.,
TEST TEST) or multiple duplicate pairs to strengthen coverage, but this baseline is acceptable.

Learning: In the Biome codebase, each lint rule has its own options type declaration (e.g., `type Options = RuleNameOptions`) as part of the codegen process, even if the options struct is empty or unused. This is standard practice and should not be flagged as an issue.

Learning: When defining lint rules (declare_lint_rule!), only specify fix_kind if the rule implements an action(...) function. Rules that only emit diagnostics without a code fix should omit fix_kind. This applies to all Rust lint rule definitions under crates/.../src/lint (e.g., crates/biome_js_analyze/src/lint/...).

crates/biome_rule_options/src/use_unique_enum_value_names.rs (1)
1-6: Options struct follows all conventions. The struct correctly derives all required traits and uses proper serde attributes per the codebase guidelines. An empty options struct is appropriate when the rule requires no configuration.
crates/biome_graphql_analyze/src/lint/nursery/use_unique_enum_value_names.rs (2)
46-65: Rule implementation is correct. The logic properly detects case-insensitive duplicate enum value names using a HashSet. The early return on first duplicate is appropriate for diagnostic emission.
67-81: Diagnostic message is clear and helpful. The error message and note provide actionable guidance to developers.

Its a bit unfortunate we can't really use TokenText here (because of the lowercasing), but maybe we could minimize the allocations in the ideal case. String allocations (essentially, small object allocations), can be pretty bad.
Could we store a Cow instead? Consider what the formatter/other rules does to the casing and convert the token to that casing instead of defaulting to lowercase. (idk what the formatter does by default).
If that doesn't entirely make sense, maybe a binary search using eq_ignore_ascii_case would make more sense as a good middle ground? Or a sort and then check for duplicates?

It seems we can't use Cow, I think it's fine to use String. Let's just leave a comment explaining why.

crates/biome_graphql_analyze/src/lint/nursery/use_unique_enum_value_names.rs (2)
46-66: Optimise duplicate detection to avoid string allocations. The current approach allocates a
Stringfor every unique enum value (line 60:into_owned().into()), which defeats the purpose of usingCow. As noted in the earlier discussion, a sort-based approach would eliminate allocations entirely:
- Collect all
TokenTextvalues into aVec- Sort with case-insensitive comparison
- Check adjacent pairs using
eq_ignore_ascii_caseThis avoids allocating lowercase strings whilst still detecting case-insensitive duplicates.
Based on learnings: Avoid string allocations by comparing against
&stror usingTokenText.🔎 Example sort-based approach
fn run(ctx: &RuleContext<Self>) -> Self::Signals { let node = ctx.query(); - let mut found: HashSet<Cow<'_, str>> = HashSet::new(); let enum_values = node.enum_values()?; + let mut names = Vec::new(); + for element in enum_values.values() { if let Some(name) = element.value().ok() && let Some(value_token) = name.value_token().ok() { - let value_token = value_token.token_text(); - let lowercase_text = value_token.to_lowercase_cow(); - if found.contains(&lowercase_text) { - return Some(()); - } else { - found.insert(lowercase_text.into_owned().into()); - } + names.push(value_token.token_text()); } } + + names.sort_by(|a, b| { + a.text().cmp(b.text()) + }); + + for window in names.windows(2) { + if window[0].text().eq_ignore_ascii_case(window[1].text()) { + return Some(()); + } + } None }
68-82: Consider pointing to the specific duplicate value. The diagnostic currently highlights the entire enum definition. Changing
Stateto store the duplicate value's span would allow pointing directly to the problematic value, making it easier for users to identify and fix the issue.

51-69: Consider a zero-allocation approach using sort-and-compare.Collecting tokens, sorting them case-insensitively, and checking adjacent pairs avoids all string allocations. Since
TokenTextsupportseq_ignore_ascii_case, you can compare directly without lowercasing.🔎 Zero-allocation alternative

45-86: Consider pinpointing the duplicate value in diagnostics. The rule works correctly, but the diagnostic highlights the entire enum definition rather than the specific duplicate value. Storing the duplicate's range in

crates/biome_graphql_analyze/src/lint/nursery/use_unique_enum_value_names.rs (2)
1-10: Imports look tidy. All dependencies are used appropriately.
12-43: Rule declaration is well-formed.Documentation, examples, and metadata all follow project conventions. Using
.same()is correct since this matches the ESLint GraphQL rule's behaviour.

It seems we can't use Cow, I think it's fine to use String. Let's just leave a comment explaining why.

The diagnostics can be improved a lot:
- we should use the text range of the duplicated value
- we can add further details by highlighting the other duplicated values
