The Global Frontend now serves Prometheus metrics at /metrics, on its serving port: requests per pool by the pool's answer, requests answered without a pool, time to first byte and duration per pool, and requests in flight per pool. Without them, the only way to see where traffic goes is the debug logs.

What
requests_total
pool, region, local, status
Requests sent to each pool, by the pool's status, no_response, or cancelled (the client left before the pool's response headers arrived; a Dynamo pool frontend sends them once a worker has the request). local gives the in-region share.
rejected_requests_total
error_type
Answered without a pool: validation, not_found or unavailable.
time_to_first_byte_seconds
pool, region
To the first chunk of a 2xx response: TTFT as the client sees it, WAN included. An SSE keep-alive sent before the first token counts as the first chunk.
request_duration_seconds
pool, region
To the end of a 2xx response or the client leaving.
response_errors_total
pool, region
2xx bodies that broke off.
inflight_requests
pool, region
This process's requests at each pool, read at scrape time.
Nothing is labelled from the request body. About 38 series per pool, most of them histogram buckets: about 310 for 8 pools.
Per request it costs a few label lookups and two histogram observations; nothing per chunk beyond a branch.
Inter-token latency and token counts need the stream parsed, so they stay with the pool frontends' dynamo_frontend_* metrics.
proxy.rs: counts each request. A send is counted once: when the pool's headers arrive, when it fails, or as cancelled if the client leaves first.
pool.rs: each Pool carries a name for labels, <cluster>/<namespace>/<DGD name>.
The Global Frontend replaces its previous forwarding and model-synchronization path with an Axum proxy. The proxy selects pool frontends, forwards POST requests and streams responses, and serves model-listing and health routes.

The crate exposes the proxy app and server. The entry point binds a TCP listener and serves the app with the shutdown token. The server applies the configured body limit and enables graceful shutdown.
The proxy requires a string model, selects a pool frontend using the model and optional session ID, and forwards the request after removing hop-by-hop headers and Host. It streams the upstream response and tracks in-flight requests. Tests cover request and response pass-through, error responses, and stream cancellation. The README describes these routes and forwarding behavior.
The proxy lists models from pool snapshots and reports health based on available pool frontends. The prior model-registration and synchronization implementation is removed. Tests check model visibility and routing after pool updates.
Pool connection failures can reveal internal addresses to clients. Replace the response details with a generic message; the remaining risk is bounded.

Explanation
The title claims that the Global Frontend serves /metrics, but the provided changes remove metrics support and document that no /metrics endpoint exists. The title does not describe the primary change.

Replace the title with one that describes the passthrough proxy change, such as perf(global-frontend): forward requests and responses unchanged. Correct the title if this PR is intended to add metrics instead.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description follows the required section structure, but its content describes a metrics implementation that is not represented in the pull request changes. It conflicts with the objectives and README, which describe request and response passthrough and removal of the Global Frontend /metrics endpoint.
Resolution
Rewrite the description to cover the actual passthrough changes: the new proxy app, unchanged request and response forwarding, routing and error behavior, in-flight tracking, removed model synchronization and forwarding modules, updated tests, and the validated commands. Remove unsupported metrics claims and update the ongoing-work section accordingly.

Serve the Global Frontend's own Prometheus families,
dynamo_global_frontend_*: requests per pool by response status (with a
local label for the in-region share, and cancelled for a client that
leaves before the pool answers), requests answered without a pool, time
to first byte and duration per pool, responses that broke off, and
requests in flight per pool.
Series are labelled with the pool's name and region, never with the
request's model. Pools now carry a name for people, their
<cluster>/<namespace>/<DGD name>. Inter-token latency and token counts
need the stream parsed and stay with the pool frontends.

A Dynamo pool frontend sends its response headers once a worker has the
request, so a client that gives up while a worker queues its request counts
under the pool's status, not as cancelled. Also note that an SSE keep-alive
before the first token counts as the first byte, and list no_response in the
README.
