- Around line 83-95: Document the task contract on dispatch_with_deadline:
callers must provide tasks that observe parent.kill() and finish after
cancellation, and must not pass tasks that can remain blocked on non-cancellable
work. Preserve the post-deadline drain so permit ownership is retained.

Previously reported defects still present:
- Original discussion: Still present: after a deadline, dispatch_with_deadline kills the parent and then awaits the task without a bound. A task that does not observe parent.kill(), such as work blocked behind non-cancellable blocking preflight, can keep the dispatcher waiting past the deadline; the current code has neither a drain bound nor a documented caller contract.
- Original discussion: The deadline path still kills the parent and then awaits the task without any bound, so a task that does not observe cancellation, including blocking preflight work, can make
dispatch_with_deadlinereturn long after the requested deadline instead of promptly reportingDeadline. - Original discussion: The previously raised deadline-drain defect is still present:
dispatch_with_deadlinekills the parent aftertimeout_atexpires, then awaits the suppliedJoinHandlewithout any bound or documented caller contract, so a task that does not observeparent.kill()can keep the dispatcher waiting past the deadline. - Original discussion: Verified still present: on deadline expiry
dispatch_with_deadlinecallsparent.kill()and then awaits the task without any bound. If a caller passes work that is blocked in non-cancellable preflight, including the providedspawn_blocking_with_permitclosure, this helper will not return the deadline outcome until that work finishes, so the request can remain stuck past its deadline. The helper needs either an enforced bounded drain or a documented/validated contract that submitted tasks observe the parent kill and finish promptly.

Traced permit accounting (panic/Err/deadline/client disconnect), the kill tree, and the only caller in D5; no leak or ordering issue found. Approving with two design notes:
decision_lifecycle.rs:26-28:try_acquire_many_ownedis non-queuing. With 256 permits and a steady stream of 1-3 branch requests holding ~200, a 100-branch request gets 429 on every attempt while its deadline budget goes unused.acquire_many_ownedundertimeout_at(deadline)would keep the same bound with FIFO admission.decision_lifecycle.rs:94-97: the post-deadlinetask.awaitdrain is unbounded; the contract that the task observesparent.kill()is enforced only by the doc comment. A gracetimeout_ataround the drain with a warn log would make a future stray.awaitindispatchvisible instead of a silent hang with permits held.

fixed in d9fa371. Review follow-up: after the deadline signals cancellation, local task drainage is bounded to one second and logs a warning on violation. Noncooperative tasks retain their permits until they finish, preventing premature capacity reuse; lifecycle regression tests passed. Immediate non-queuing admission is intentionally retained rather than introducing FIFO waiting, and the helper contract now states this explicitly. This bounds frontend waiting, not physical GPU cancellation settlement. |

Latest review follow-up is published: #15851 at bca82d2, this PR at 44f64b5, and the dependent core train restacked through fba6215. The execution caller adaptation is 84c69a8. All nine new discussions have replies: six implemented fixes/simplifications and three explicitly deferred follow-up ideas; deferral is not an implementation claim. Validation on the freshly rebuilt integrated tip fba6215: 59 Rust decision tests, 11 lifecycle tests (including request-span capture), 57 model-selection tests, 11 WorkerSet tests, 14 OpenAPI tests, strict no-default-features all-target Clippy, 205 SGLang unit tests, 12 live CPU-mocker HTTP cases, and four external wire/official synchronous OpenAI/TypeSafe SDK cases passed. The SDK harness also validates real error responses against generated schemas. Counts overlap. Scoped pre-commit/formatting passed; Cargo manifests and lockfiles are unchanged. The migration-selection and missing-request-ID regressions were reproduced before their fixes. An independent review found no new actionable defects. These are CPU/live-HTTP integration results, not new GPU model qualification, performance measurements, or proof of physical GPU cancellation settlement. New-head CI is separate and not claimed complete. |

Summary
Telemetry
Decision cleanup overruns remain request-correlated structured warnings, not a new Prometheus metric. No dashboard, alert rule, or Dynamo component currently consumes a dedicated cleanup counter, so the unshipped counter, registration, generated names, and catalog entry are removed rather than inventing a consumer or granting a staging exception.
lib/llm/AGENTS.mdrecords the log-only diagnostic, tracing/admission requirements, and the distinction between local cleanup and physical GPU settlement.Telemetry fix
1f864a0882: confirmed the new regression fails while the counter is still exported, then passed all 11 lifecycle tests and 67 frontend metric tests after removal. Strict Clippy passed with warnings denied. At the updated integrated stack tip, all 11 lifecycle tests and 34 decision-handler tests passed. Generated Python metric names were regenerated from Rust; formatting, pre-commit, docs lint, Fern configuration and broken-link checks passed. Independent review found no correctness issues. This is CPU-side telemetry/lifecycle validation, not a fresh GPU or full JSON trace-field qualification. The existing local Python environment audit reports dependency advisories; this change adds or changes no dependency pins.Latest review follow-up
Background deadline cleanup inherits the current HTTP request span, so overrun warnings and cleanup errors retain request identifiers without changing cancellation or admission ownership. The strengthened regression failed with the original bare spawn and all 11 lifecycle tests pass with the fix. Shared-helper extraction and Drop-guard observation of an abandoned dispatch future remain separate follow-ups; deadline instrumentation does not claim to solve either or establish physical GPU settlement.
Phase 1 scope
The integrated stack supports only OpenAI
POST /v1/decisionsand Jev/TypeSafePOST /v1/systemone. Every top-levelnvextenvelope is rejected, including{}and explicit"oai". Public SGLang-native Decisions request/response types, adapters, projection and selector support are removed. SGLang/generatescoring remains an internal execution primitive, not a third public contract. Optional native-format support is deferred to DEP #15960. This scope supersedes the earlier three-contract implementation description.Stack
Dynamo review order: D1: mocker → D2: native scoring → D3: discovery → D4: admission → D5: execution → D6a: HTTP → D6b: OpenAPI → D7: qualification. Each PR targets its predecessor; merge from the base upward and update dependent bases as prerequisites land.
D4 of the Dynamo decision API stack. Base:
bis/decisions-d3-discovery; the linear review stack carries earlier foundations, while these lifecycle primitives remain a separate responsibility. The execution coordinator consumes them in D5.Related: umbrella DEP #15843 and its dependency plan.
No public routes are exposed. Tested private staged entries have exact-item lint expectations that are removed when the execution layer supplies their production callers. Local task completion is not represented as physical GPU settlement.
Validation
The core train is based on main snapshot
532616d12d, with each dependent PR restacked on its updated predecessor. Exact current fix SHAs are recorded in the review replies; historical evidence below retains its original source revision.Fresh integrated-stack validation and complete GPU pytest output ran at tip
876e2980df44ac3ec16d3079965e1c58039e5cd3: both committed native SGLang tests passed on stock 0.5.22/GB200 with pinned Qwen3-0.6B; four official OpenAI/TypeSafe client/wire cases passed separately against the live worker. The incompatible 43-choice Jev probe returned the new actionable HTTP 422 diagnostic. These are integrated-stack results, not a claim that lower slices expose public routes independently.Recorded earlier-source validation also passed 294 mocker tests, 51 System One tests, 52 frontend service tests, nine live CPU HTTP tests, focused routing/protocol/lifecycle/OpenAPI and Python regressions, strict LLM all-target Clippy without default features, formatting/pre-commit, and locked metadata. Documentation configuration and broken-link checks passed. Counts overlap; new-head remote CI is tracked separately. This does not qualify the 27B model, model quality, performance/scaling, or physical GPU cancellation settlement.
