Summary
Ship ThunderAgent in normal Dynamo frontend builds. Users enable program-aware admission and placement through
--router-policy-config; there is no ThunderAgent-specific build feature. Without that YAML configuration, routing behavior stays unchanged.Port the native implementation and its tests from router-sandbox #4 into the existing builtin plugin catalog. One registration hook installs its request classifier and worker selector. Document aggregated-serving setup with an inline YAML example, session IDs, soft affinity, and frontend-local state. Keep the guide focused on using ThunderAgent; generic request-classifier API and registration docs are deferred. Custom catalogs must remove duplicate
thunderagentregistrations. Also group pause candidates by worker/rank in one program-table pass, replacing two full scans per overloaded rank. Build the groups after resume and timeout handling; preserve candidate order, pause targets, and running-request accounting. Skip the program scan when no rank is overloaded. Waiters and queue entries keep registration identity so request-ID reuse cannot cancel a replacement or block a session. Ignore irrelevant and untracked lifecycle events before reading capacity or rebuilding usage. Log startup configuration at INFO, timeout-forced resumes at WARN (one summary per tick), and scheduler state changes at DEBUG. Unchanged ticks are silent. Log snapshots use stored counts without scanning programs or requests, and events are emitted after releasing the scheduler lock. Enable scheduler detail with
DYN_LOG=info,thunderagent=debug.Related: Pluggable Router Flow Control DEP.
Validation
--no-default-features. The two manual CPU benchmarks were exercised before the main merge; measurements below were not rerun for this merge.cargo check -p dynamo-llm --no-default-features --locked, formatting, pre-commit, and locked metadata checks for all four CI Cargo workspaces pass. Default Python binding metadata resolves the builtin crate without a ThunderAgent feature.deepseek-v4-pro-0813.mdxrecipe.No fresh Python wheel build or GPU benchmark was run. Usage targets aggregated frontend serving; standalone EPP and disaggregated validation remain follow-ups.
CPU measurement
Pause phase only, including grouping, sorting, and state updates; fixture setup is outside the timer. Compare the original scans with this implementation on the same Intel Xeon host, pinned to one CPU, using optimized Rust builds with LTO disabled and 16 codegen units. Each case has 5 warmups and 30 measured samples; values below are the median of three alternating baseline/candidate runs. Every case produced the same paused/marked program counts.
The included
benchmark_pause_by_rankignored test reproduces the workload. These numbers measure CPU time in the pause phase, not end-to-end serving throughput.Summary by CodeRabbit
