WalkthroughAdded opt-in lifecycle tracing across Dynamo runtime requests, OpenAI chat completions, ingress handling, vLLM generation, and worker operations. Added terminal outcome tracking, timeout classification, environment configuration, and OpenTelemetry filtering. ChangesLifecycle tracing
Estimated code review effort: 4 (Complex) | ~60 minutes Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to The PR adds lifecycle telemetry across request handling and worker execution. At the current head, one test fails deterministically, aggregate serving omits a worker boundary, some timeout and cancellation outcomes are misclassified, and caller-controlled identifiers may enter telemetry without demonstrated bounds or redaction; early rejection and abnormal stream termination can also produce incomplete outcomes. The change is not merge-ready until these issues are corrected or explicitly accepted. 🚥 Pre-merge checks | ✅ 3 | ❌ 2❌ Failed checks (2 warnings)

110-111: 🚀 Performance & Scalability | 🔵 Trivial | ⚡ Quick winCache the lifecycle environment values once per process.
LifecycleIdentity::newcallslifecycle_profile()andlifecycle_mode()for every lifecycle identity, andstart_worker_operationplusstart_worker_response_streamingcallworker_disaggregation_mode()for every span. Each call performs astd::env::varlookup and allocates aStringon the per-request path. These values are process-static, likeprocess_epochandinstance_idin the same file. UseOnceLockand return&'static strto remove the per-request lookups and allocations.♻️ Proposed refactor using the existing OnceLock pattern
-fn lifecycle_profile() -> String { - std::env::var(DYN_LIFECYCLE_TRACE_PROFILE) - .ok() - .filter(|profile| !profile.trim().is_empty()) - .unwrap_or_else(|| DEFAULT_PROFILE.to_string()) +static PROFILE: OnceLock<String> = OnceLock::new(); + +fn lifecycle_profile() -> &'static str { + PROFILE + .get_or_init(|| { + std::env::var(DYN_LIFECYCLE_TRACE_PROFILE) + .ok() + .filter(|profile| !profile.trim().is_empty()) + .unwrap_or_else(|| DEFAULT_PROFILE.to_string()) + }) + .as_str() }Apply the same pattern to
lifecycle_modeandworker_disaggregation_mode, and change theLifecycleIdentityfields to&'static str.Also applies to: 399-411, 430-434

Summary
Extend Dynamo’s existing telemetry module with the first runtime-level instrumentation for tracing individual inference requests. The lifecycle is modeled as a simplified finite-state machine, providing a consistent per-request view of how work progresses across the runtime without relying on engine-specific events.
REQUEST_RECEIVED → PREFILL_ADMITTED → PREFILLING → DECODE_ADMITTED → STREAMING → COMPLETED | FAILED | CANCELLED.STREAMINGwhen the first client-visible output is delivered, distinct from decode admission or backend stream setup.Summary by CodeRabbit
