Changes

  • Restore daily E2E accuracy on non-root runners using the configured sudo-enabled CI image, Python 3.12, and PostgreSQL 18 client. All branches previously failed during apt-get in run 36555891384.
  • Resolve the newest published InferenceX db-dump/YYYY-MM-DD once per pipeline. Verify its checksum file and asset metadata, retain the resolved manifest, and share it across branch campaigns. Reject incomplete latest releases instead of falling back to stale data.
  • Retry failed data parts up to three attempts, retaining verified preceding parts and reporting actual size/hash mismatches. Set the free-disk requirement from the resolved dump size.
  • Upload the sanitized output directory to accommodate container-hook path remapping. Update CI documentation and regression coverage.

Validation

  • 391 Python CI/workflow and E2E accuracy tests and 21 JavaScript workflow tests passed; Ruff, YAML/shell syntax, and diff checks passed.
  • Full dev-branch E2E run 36643620072 succeeded with db-dump/2026-09-28, evaluating source a4a59dce4fcfce1ec223008831f3328b77b1a3ce. Setup, download/extraction, campaign qualification, and artifact upload all passed. Campaign job took 59m21s; predictor evaluation took 42m23s.
  • All 4,130 selected points received outcomes: 1,137 evaluated, 2,686 unsupported, and 307 baseline failures. Evaluated replay results include 1,135 successes and 2 failures. Pipeline success is not universal predictor coverage or accuracy acceptance.
  • Downloaded summary/qualification artifacts and verified the summary checksum. Actual runner memory limit and peak usage were not measured; this run completed without a fatal OOM.
  • Removed the temporary branch-specific dispatch exception and documentation note after validation; 12 workflow tests passed again. Production main-only dispatch and publication guards remain intact. No dev-branch data was published.

📝 Summary

Risk: High. Three areas need human attention: (1) confirm the configured sudo-enabled image and PostgreSQL 18 client setup work on non-root runners; (2) assess the fail-closed latest-dump resolution and part verification, including the reported size/hash failure; (3) verify the full accuracy-public/ artifact path works with downstream consumers and container path remapping.

Changed behavior and contracts

  • The resolver selects the newest dated published dump, verifies its checksum asset and part metadata, and publishes one manifest for all branch campaigns. Incomplete latest releases fail instead of falling back to older data.
  • The fetcher retries invalid or failed part downloads up to three times, preserves earlier verified parts, and derives its free-space requirement from the resolved dump size.
  • Campaign jobs use CI_JOB_CONTAINER_IMAGE, Python 3.12, and PGDG PostgreSQL 18 client tools, plus zstd and libgomp1.
  • Campaign artifacts now upload the full accuracy-public/ directory. Documentation and regression tests cover the workflow and resolver behavior.

Evidence supplied
The PR description reports 391 Python CI/workflow and E2E accuracy tests, 21 JavaScript workflow tests, Ruff, YAML and shell syntax checks, and diff checks passed. It also reports that latest-dump resolution selected db-dump/2026-09-28 with 17 verified part checksums. These results were not independently run here.

The reported first dev-branch run passed wheel build, sudo/dependency setup, and exact-wheel installation. It then failed during download after ten verified parts when the next part failed size/hash verification, despite matching upstream metadata.

Technical quality and merge readiness
The supplied tests cover key manifest validation, release selection, download retries, and artifact-path behavior. They do not establish successful end-to-end campaign execution. Full campaign success remains unverified, and the temporary branch-specific manual-dispatch exception remains pending removal after testing. Dev-branch accuracy results are excluded from Pages publication.

No current review findings were supplied, so review severity counts are unavailable. The reported checks and implementation evidence do not establish review approval or merge readiness.

Walkthrough

The accuracy workflow resolves the latest published database dump into a validated manifest and passes it to the campaign job. Dump-part downloads retry after I/O, HTTP, and validation errors. The campaign job uses the configured CI container and uploads the full accuracy-public directory.

Changes

Accuracy campaign workflow

Layer / File(s) Summary
Resolve and validate dump manifests
scripts/fetch_accuracy_measurements.py, tests/test_e2e_accuracy_nightly.py
The script paginates release metadata and validates the latest published dump assets and checksums. Tests cover valid manifests, invalid release data, and pagination.
Retry validated dump-part downloads
scripts/fetch_accuracy_measurements.py, tests/test_e2e_accuracy_nightly.py
The script retries failed part downloads up to three times and truncates partial data between attempts. Tests cover retry success and final failure.
Wire the resolved dataset into the campaign
.github/workflows/e2e-accuracy.yml, .github/workflows/e2e-accuracy-branch.yml, docs/ci.md, tests/test_e2e_accuracy_nightly.py
The resolve job uploads the generated manifest, and the campaign job uses it to fetch measurements and run qualification. The campaign job uses the configured container and PostgreSQL 18 client tools, then uploads the full accuracy-public directory. The documentation and workflow test reflect these changes.

Explanation

The description explains the main changes and provides substantial validation evidence, but it does not follow the required template. It omits the Review map, Modeling or data provenance, and Tracking sections, and does not provide several required evidence fields such as reviewed commits, exact commands, and compatibility concerns.

Resolution

Add all required template sections. Include risk level, starting points, public contract impact, rollback concerns, exact test commands and results, reviewed commits, boundary cases, numerical assertion derivation, provenance or N/A, and issue or PR tracking.

Full details: Cross-Layer Contract

Explanation

The new --resolve-latest CLI path and the cross-job manifest handoff are not tested end to end. The PR adds unit tests for resolve_latest_manifest, release_items, and download_part, but resolve-latest appears only in scripts/fetch_accuracy_measurements.py and .github/workflows/e2e-accuracy.yml; no test invokes the CLI entry point or verifies that the resolve job uploads e2e-accuracy-dataset and that the campaign job downloads and consumes that exact artifact. The existing workflow test checks only the campaign output upload path. This leaves the changed CLI serialization/output path and the new resolve-to-campaign contract untraced by tests.

Resolution

Add a CLI-level test that runs the --resolve-latest dispatch with a temporary manifest and output file, then asserts the serialized manifest and failure behavior. Add workflow contract coverage that checks the resolve job's checkout, resolver command, artifact name/path, retention, and the campaign job's matching download and manifest paths. Keep the existing resolver and retry unit tests.

LGTM. Resolver validation (SHA256SUMS digest, per-part asset digests, extra/missing parts) and per-part retry look correct; tests pass locally. Note for follow-up awareness: nightly measurements now move with each new InferenceX dump, so day-over-day accuracy comparisons reset whenever the dump changes.
